We Leythers are not daft but we were the better side and I counted at leat 9 of your first choice players.

You have some big names who did not play today but Leigh are well coached have a very good pack and if you want to make a few quid put some money on Leigh to win the Championship.

FWIW Leigh beat Wigan at this point last year and they went on to have a reasonable season

Yesterday's result does not matter - though I would rather have won - but I was concerned that we were out-enthused and some of our forwards who are likely to be in the starting seventeen were driven back regularly in the tackle.

Wayne Godwin showed a lot of promise during his time on the pitch and Chris Nero showed a couple of nice touches.

The younger players showed a good deal of effort , particularly on defence, but in truth we were second best on the day.

If Leo-Latu isn't coming, and we are to sign anyone, then I would love to see another big prop to give us that go-forward, or a quality scrum half to work with Daniel Holdsworth.

I think we can be forgiven for celebrating yesterday's win as regardless of you being without all of your foreigners bar Nero (shouldn't rely so much on overseas players, I say

), the majority of your side have got squad numbers this season which, in my book at least, makes them first team players. And that's not to mention we were missing Paul and Govin, had a trialist in Mills and two kids who have only just come from our reserves in Pownall and Nicholson. You can even take it as a back-handed compliment that Salford are considered one of the 'big boys' who we rarely get a shot at.

Pressure is on already... yes it was a friendly with first team players missing granted however you look at the teamsheet and alot those players will be in or around the 17 next season. Remember it is also Leighs first game and they were rotating their side too. By comparison, I think a fellow SL side with 8 or 9 starting players in their side would still have beat Leigh today.

Get a bit of a belting off Wigan and lose the opening 2/3 games in SL and there will be some discontent thats for sure. The main issue will be the strength in depth people have already eluded to. Matt Smith should be nowhere near the No.7 shirt, he should be a rotating 9 with Godwin, he is not good enough to be a SL No.7 and having two good games a season does not change that (one wasn't even for us)

Really disappointed with the props yesterday. This was a chance for one or two to really make a mark and earn a regular place alongside Cashmere and Feka within the rotation.
