| I don't mind not spending the full cap as long as we are stronger, improve on last year and are competitive against all teams.

Long term yes,but I cannot see this lot furthering season tickets.Yes we are going on about how good Sheens is,but if Noble was old hat, surely that is the same for Sheens.Yes Sheens has got a good record, but with the some of the best players in the game.I hope I am wrong but I cannot see this group of names bringing in much needed extra support

| So if a team in the Super8's got to say the semi finals and made a wedge of prize money that counts where we play in the middle 8's and probably get 10 bob for coming 3rd?
Shows the stupidity of not only the whole Super/Middle 8's idea but the RFL in general.

Noble had been away from the game before coming in. Sheens has never been away, and the coach of Australia.
As for the team. Getting the extra revenue into the club will be down to results rather than personalities. If we win and play competitively in matches we lose, then more people will come back and more income flows in. Big names didn't stop us getting a pummeling this season on occasions so I'd hazard a guess that what the coaching staff are looking at is making us more of a 'team' than a bunch of big names. A bit like what Cas has done. Sure, bringing in a massive name would bring in a few, but repeated drubbings will keep them away. I'm more in favour of the team approach rather than the name approach, so I'm watching with keen interest at how pre-season and the start of the season go.

| It sounds a lot like the RFL have tried to implement something similar to UEFA's financial fair play, which has turned out to be flawed. Ultimately, the more successful teams will always bring in more revenue. How many times are Leeds, Wigan & Saints on Sky than the likes of Salford for example. Because of their success their attendances will be higher, earning more match day revenue and give a company the opportunity to sponsor a team, are they going to go for a success club or one fighting for survival?
In order for teams to catch up, they need heavy investment and if you cannot do that, you've got no chance! Its a system that ensures the top teams stay at the top.

| Yes Butcher you are right about Noble,I am also right about Sheens. That he has worked with some of the best players in the game.I was reading an article in an Australian mag about the guru Wayne Bennett has to why he as been so successful,it stated it is because he as evolved with the game.I just wonder
as Tim,I hope so fall all are sakes.Butcher even you have to admit, that we have wasted three seasons, with the antics of the clown who owns the club.We have had that many last chance saloons,I think this time we are in the back room of the saloon. Finally I hope I am wrong and you are right, but these players do not fill me with any positives what so ever. They have been discarded from clubs who want better,if Wilkinson had announced the same, people would have been livid

Sure, the players are not Thurston or Cronk but we simply are not in the position to get world-class players. The ones we have had haven't set the SL alight. I think we need to give the Club the benefit of the doubt over this, at least until we've seen them in action. We're too quick to pass judgement sometimes. Let's give the players a chance eh?

I think this is just a bit too negative for me. Weere not in last chance salon and we seem to have made a conscious effot to sign players who the coaches have worked with previously. I am more excited by the 2016 TEAM than I am by the last 2 seasons individuals. How you can doubt Sheens is beyond me as this the the perfect man in the perfect role. We have a young new head coach who can use Sheens to bounce ideas off and can use his knowledge to put together a really strong team. The fact Sheens has worked with the best players means he knows what the best is about and his job now is implementing that into Salford!
Of the new signings:
Koshak (SIC): A real work horse who does the hard hards
O'Brien: A bright young half back with a great kicking game who has big game experience
Joseph: A fitter Feka with better hands
Flanaghen: Anothernot thrills, long minutes player with lots of experience at the top of the game
BMM: Looks a serious unit who can shift, really excited by this guy
Lui: Looks like the perfect half back foil for Dobson, from what I understand he is a NRL half back who could play in at least half the NRL teams so a real coup for me
I think if we can add a big time Hooker and a centre and another 2nd row, then we look really strong for next year. People forget that we already have a few serious stars in our team who will shine next year given the additional ball and focus on them: ie BJB, Evalds, Josh Griffin, Dobbo.
Am excited to see the next few signings but am really looking forward to the new season!!

| Robert Lui had several offers to leave but both he and his partner are from Townsville and all their family live in the area.He really wanted to make a go of it at NQC and has been playing for their feeder club the Townsville Blackhawks, who managed to get to the state final. Also earlier in the year he was struggling with a bad hamstring injury which held him back from reclaiming a spot on the Cowboys roster.Still stood in for Thurston during Origin when the Cowboys are always seriously understrength and managed to lead them to victory over St George. The guy is a serious talent and should not be underestimated as long as he gets his confidence and settles into life at Salford.

Lui has played 4 times this season due to injury and only once was off the bench.Last year he played 25 games and only 3 of them were off the bench. In total in the last 18 months he has played approx 25 times for the Cowboys with only 4 of those games starting on the bench so i think you need to check your stats a little better.

Some interesting signings there. Looks more balanced including some squad payers'"
Not quite.
For a start, it wasn’t dismissed, a settlement was reached which the Puletua’s were more than happy with. An RFL representative also sat in on the whole thing and as a result now have enough evidence to investigate the club for offering and paying side payments. If they’re found guilty, we’ll be hit with a hefty points deduction.
With regards to the new signings, I am more than happy. Some people will moan that we have let quality like Chase, Hansen and Paterson go and replaced them with average players but I trust Sheens vision. In true style, he will turn us into a solid, workmanlike, no frills team that will be difficult to beat but also score plenty of tries. Robert Lui is the pick of the bunch, he really is a very good signing.

Presumably if there's a hefty points deduction on the way then there's no point in spending any more on the squad than we need to see us through the middle 8s again?

To be fair to Liu he may be a decent player.
However his lengthy ban for beating the c**p out of his girlfriend got in the way.

| Watched Lui on Premier sports a few times last year, he did okay but was basically fulfilling the role Gareth Widdop did for Cooper Cronk at Melbourne so he was never going to stand out.
He seems okay and while he will never look a worldie maybe having structure isn't such a bad thing. Maybe he will be able to show his true potential when out of JT's shadow.
