Does anyone have any documents from the Council's public inquiry into the stadium? Along with a number of other titbits that came out, which sparked Salford Star's obsession with Wilky, I seem to remember one of arguments for building a then ‘self-sufficient’ stadium was that Salford were spending £600,000 below the salary cap (which then would have been £1.8m). And, of course, spending up to the cap would, theoretically, make the club more prosperous. Now let's spark some wild assumptions — this is an internet forum after-all.

Unless Salford chopped their wage bill significantly after relegation and promotion in 2007/8, which is possible, £1.2m + £400k = £1.6m; £50,000 short of the cap (bar the £100,000 extension for special cases). I could have, of course, imagined all this. However, the language used regarding the so-called ‘robust’ business plan intimated that Salford would a squad on less that what they had done previously, certainly in the licence era, to help turnover a small profit. Was £1 million mentioned at some point? I also seem to recall Eddie Hemmings prattling on about Wakefield’s 2012 squad being run on a ‘shoestring’ budget of £1 million, hitherto unheard of in the licence era... apparently.

One real advantage that we have,if I'm not mistaken,is that quite a few players are coming off contract at the end of season.
I think on Saturday ,the Doctor said something like we'd have a clear roster.
I don't think that can be completely correct but I guess it's as near to starting with a clean slate as its possible to achieve.
There'll be one or two that are still under contract who'll be told they won't figure and might go if other clubs match their existing deals with us.

Yes they are but would Dr Koukash come out in public if nothing had been agreed? He'd look pretty stupid stating he's bringing in 10 to 15 new players if none of them sign.

I think we are going to find out a lot more about our existing players over the coming months. With a new experianced coach like Noble and a bigger and more qualified backroom setup don't be surprised if some excel in a more professional working environment. I believe it's possible that some players could stand up and show they are worth having in the squad for 2014. I think some people are writing so many players off prematurely just because the club has new money to invest.

It's over to the players from tomorrow because I think they will realise it could be the last chance superleague saloon if they fail to improve and impress Noble and the Doctor.

I'm expecting a few upset results before the end of the year because these boys are in the spotlight and playing for their futures and their families.

Your previous posts saying we've got contracts agreed with 10 players, 4 of whom are world class. Koukash meant we'll be bringing in 10-15 new players to improve the squad, he didn't meant we've got 10-15 specific players who have agreed contracts and are all ready to sign. They'll undoubtedly have identified some targets and spoken to others (some of whom will probably be all but signed) but I think you are jumping the gun saying our recruitment is so far advanced it is practically sorted.

I was just quoting a fan who spoke to Ed Farish an that's what he said. Like I said before Koukash wouldn't announce anything If deals hadnt been formally agreed.

Tony Smith didnt want a new squad when he came to Wires, the first thing he did was drop Lee Briers and explain to him and the team Lee Briers wasnt the be all and end all of the club .....he then took Lee Briers' game up a notch and Lee Briers is now a lance todd trophy winner.

Marwan & Brian may have identified 4 world class Players , but maybe Cronulla, Parramatta , St George , St Helens and even Bless 'em Hull may have also identified them too.
Until they're signed & sealed hopefully we should hear nothing. No more Simms-like idle speculation in the press please.

It was me that had the conversation with Ed, I merely asked 10-15 players?? (as the doc had just made the announcement), yep he confirmed with 4 of them being big names. I pressed about Dobson and he said he was high on the clubs radar. For now chaps all we have is targets - I can see 4-5 new faces this season to bolster our squad but everyone knows the main activity will be close season.
