| As long as it has a standing area and they swap the green for Red it'll do for me.
Looking at it, if there's still a future option to upgrade further to 20,000 I would presume that the quads would get filled in, I can't see this being needed - but you never know!
Mr Wilky and the board should be thanked for getting this project to where it is, especially with all the past problems and in the current economic climate....

| Yes it looks 'fine', That word sums up the whole thing not 'ICONIC' as the club said it would be.
And as i work in the industry i do know prices have gone up but believe me, not that much! I hope thats the cost of the training facilities too!
And now as i'm ever the diplomat,
On the plus side:
This stadium design has room for expansion which the 'iconic' design didnt really have.
It is in an very easily accessible area.
It can be seen from the Barton overpass increasing the clubs profile.
It will have training facilities right next door.
It should be a rather easy build as its straight out of the ATL brochure.
Also, as it is a new stadium the club should be able to attract better players and provide A grade training for the academy/youth sides.

| Thats more like it
I would have also liked the iconic (what the hell does that really mean) design, but come on do you really everthink that was going to happen ?
This is Salford we are talking about here
It does look like the Stoop but If it ends up with facilities like theirs, especially the long bar then I will be more than happy.

| Quote ="lukicj"I have a few issues with it apart from it being a bit of a let down on the design downgrade:
It is stated that it will be a £26m stadium yet its clearly a £12m-£15m design.
Looking at other stadia such as City of Manchester (also a AFL project) which is a £20m 48'000 capacity developement, ours is a rip-off! or how about Preston North End having a £7.1m 22,250 capacity very similar looking yet bigger stadium than us.
Also, the retail area will be used to pay off the loan? Who would want to visit our stadium to shop when just over the road there is The Traffold Centre!!?
And yes the choice is between 'New Stadium' or 'No Stadium' but come on, it seems like Peel have bent us over on this one!
'"
I would suggest that the grounds you are talking about were built sometime ago as costs have rocketed over the past few years - you only have to look at the National Wendyball arena in London village to see that, think also the design on the clubs website is representation rrather than a blueprint as I think they would have made more of it if it were, can you honestly see us having green seats??. no more I think it is just an image of a stadium that will looking something like rather than a replica of.

| Yes, my main point is that it isnt the 'iconic' stadium promised, its a bit of a let down after seeing the original rendering. The chances are that it will be a more than adequate stadium and have great on site facilities for both players, management and fans. But many fans will be a little dissapointed in the stadium design itself. Also, that stadium shown on the website will only be a representation of the final build but it will not change that much. Red seats and the facade of the main stand might change slightly, but i cant see it drastically changing.

| Ok, this is really roughly rendered and took 2mins to do as i'm supposed to be working, but seeing as the stadium wont be iconic in itself how about there is an iconic element to it such as having a really fancy main facade:
Goal post inspired sculture with our badge
It would be seen from the motorway and it clearly shows who plays there and which sport.
i await your abuse

| LEGO , springs to mind
Seriously though , new stadia are great , if , IF you can fill them , I dont know the ins and outs , but if you dont get income from sales apart from turnstiles , they are not good
Can you get another 5,000 to turn up ?

| Alright so it's not the fancy futuristic amazing looking stadium that was originally presented to us all that time ago. But its a new stadium which will be a better place to hold RL than the willows. Which as much as I love the place and will sad to see it go is starting to look a little tired especially when compared to the better stadia we go to in SL.
The club face a challenging time now to at least fulfill their promise to increase gates. Every other promise bar the stadium being built as gone for a burton. Lets hope they have a good strategy in place to bring in the new supporters.
Things are starting to look good again

Surely any retail developments would not be competing directly against the Trafford Ctr but be classed as part of the retail sector in the area. Since the Trafford Ctr opened we have seen the surrounding spaces developed into hotels, soccerdome, ski slope, pubs and the Neary Way retail park. I have no idea about whether there is demand for more retail space in the area but I presume we would sell the opportunity as being part of the Trafford Ctr area where thousands upon thousands of customers visit the area on a daily basis for leisure purposes.

Many of us were guilty of having our head in the cloud after the original plans were drawn up. We would have had the best stadium in the comp bar none. After the trials and tribulations of the last 5 or so years we have to be realistic about the future. Like you say, things are beginning to look up after years of frustration

| Whilst my opinions of the design are irrelevant, this worries me [iThe joint venture company would manage the stadium, with the Reds having a licence to use it.[/i
Thanks for that I thought the reason for its exsistence was because of Salford ?
Kinda sounds like we will be squatters, and from one of the very few clubs who owned thier own ground.
Also as a couple of others have said I fail to see where the finance streams will come from to compete in this league.

| In responce to a couple of earlier posts about filling in the quads (Corners) in the future. My understanding of the design is the stadium corners on the opposite side to the new main stand will be wrapped around with seating.(filled in)
I thought I should just mention it because it seems many people are really disappointed and under the impression it will be a box job like Warrington's, Leigh's and Widnes's stadiums with all open corners.
I suppose it would be fantastic to have all corners developed from day one but two corners are better than none!

Rumours are rife that Cas and Wakey will merge and play at the new Castleford stadium under the name 'Castleford Wildtigers' - Guaranteed to take off! lol

| Getting back on topic, drove past yesterday lunchtime and there was some serious work going on with what looked like new earth being moved. Think the more you see being done the less and less the detractors will be.
Think we all have to settle for a more run of the mill stadium than was planned but times have changed even in the past 2 or 3 years since the final decision was made, I know what I would prefer an old outdated ground like the Willows or some place warm and welcoming that befits the more family friendly image we are looking for.

Going off the drawings that I have seen you are correct in that the corners opposite to the main stand do appear to be wrapped around (filled in)
