Match killer for me, Holdsworth and his comlete lack of attacking ability. No clue with ball in hand or with the boot! '"
Also, Holdsworth missed the conversion to the first try, by a lot actually, but incredibly the touch judges raised their flags!!

The penalty count was 13-10 to us. The order of penalties was ("L" being penalties Leeds conceded, "S" being penalties Salford conceded):
L, S, S, S, L, S, S, L, L, L, L, S, L, L, S, L, L, L, L, L, S, S, S.

| i agree, we ( salford ) lost that game due to our poor first half performance conceeding 18 points after us bombing oppurtunity after oppurtunity, we had a lot of possession but couldnt convert it to points unfortunately, yes i agree there should of maybe been a yellow card but there wasn't.
Our attack in the firest half looked absolutely clueless it improved in the second half but we blew it in the first half thats all i have got to say!!!

| Yes, ref was rotten. I thought the way silverwood called back every quick penalty, and generally slowing the game down was dreadful.
However, poor as the ref was, you can't blame him. Lack of cutting edge probably cost us the match. We had a few repeat sets on the Leeds line early on, and didn't convert that into points. We need to be more clinical turning possession on the opposition line into points. That way horrendous decisions from the ref won't matter too much.
Good thing is that we got ourselves into that position in the first place. Good performance from the forwards, and we did rally a bit in the second half, on another night, who knows. Coach has 2 weeks to instill a bit of finesse into the squad, get us finishing off our opportunities, and for once I think we have a man who might just be able to do it.

| For me i would change the team slightly id have the same backs as started tonight have smith in at 7 ratchford at 6 holdsworth to loose moving wild into second row and godwin to come back in at hooker with sneyd on the bench, the attack seems clueless under holdsworth of recent so give this a go but hey what do i know !!!

| That was one of the most innept refereeing performances I've ever seen, I though the ref was there to encourage a flowing open game and not to try to be centre stage and slow play down at every oppertunity.
I think he was as poor for both teams.
I don't however blame him for losing, missing touch and two pieces of absoloute magic from the Rhinos saw to that.

Got to love Yorkshire folk. If you read the post properly I actually blame the defeat on a lack of concentration, lack of attacking ideas and lack tackling technique from someone who should do much better. I was never actually blaming the ref!
Better side on the night?
Leeds were definitely more clinical and took their chances well, but we scored some good tries in the second half. The class of Buderus did show for that first try, excellent support and a fine pass. The try we let Bailey in for was just an embarrassment.
If our new coach give us a little more cutting edge, in attack, and get the players not to lose concentration, in defence, then Salford will be a top eight team.

| You can't blame the ref for last night. He was poor, but come on! We were like the big bad wolf after the 3 little pigs. All huff and puff, but couldn't blow the house down. Our attack was one dimensional as always and we gifted them tries from individual errors and poor defending. Leeds despite a poor season by their standards still have class in abundance and a couple of their tries were just absolutely awesome.
The thing that pee'd me off more than anything was how with 5 mins left to go the game was lost and we suddenly started playing inventive rugby. Holdsworths chip over to Broughton was class. Yet we should be doing stuff like that 20 mins earlier not when the game is dead.
The guys worked hard. They all put the effort in, but I came away so disappointed at the lack of skill or "spark" displayed by teh "playmakers" in the team

| Andersons tackle for for the first try was woeful and I'm sorry to say it although he is a vast improvement on Myler, Holdsworth just blows far too hot and cold for me you can see why he was 3rd choice at the Bulldogs just no consistency what so eva.

| Holdsworths attempt at being 2nd man in the tackle for the Bailey try defied believe. As stated quite a lot before he seems to be controlled by his emotional well being. When he's up he's great. When he's down he's pish poor.
I like Dan holdsworth alot, but unless he gets a grip of his game, I'll not cry should he not have his contract renewed.

| I felt a bit flat after last nights game, to many errors to have won, We are going to miss Ray Cashmere, he was certainly our stand out player last night. I agree with the general comments with reference to Dan Holdsworth, he is not a half back & in my opinion should be playing at loose forward, does not take the line on enough, this does not make him a bad player but as the half back position is so pivotal to the way the team plays we cannot surely do wrong in trying other option until the end of the season.
It also struck me against HKR the other week we lacked leadership when they put pressure on us & I felt the same again last night, at this level it plays a big part in my opinion between winning & loosing. Anyway back to the drawing board.

| Agreed Redgunner - we had Leeds on the back foot for the first twenty minutes or so - forcing errors, drop outs etc. but when we didn't score you could see all ideas just disappearing - just like at HKR - when we couldn't press home the advantage we seemed to become clueless.
However on the plus side at least our coach has the guts to see and say what is wrong:
Salford coach Matt Parish:
"I didn't think our options in attack were great, particularly in the first half.
"We butchered a number of opportunities and got caught three or four times.
"We matched them most of the match but they took most of their chances. We didn't take the opportunities we should have and were probably a bit disjointed."
Mr Mcrae would just be saying what positives he could take out of it!

| Am amazed by some of the drivel posted on here. The ref was to picky but he was bad for both teams. Anderson had by far his best game for the club and was my man of match. Did a shed load of work and scored a great try. Do we watch different games as this is happening to often!wise up and use your brain

So there was a phase where Leeds got a 4 and 5 run of penaltys this is shocking imo that might be a maximum of 54 more tackles we have to make in the mid section of the game and that's without talking territory
our last 3 might have been given to even up the count when u look at the way it ran you really have to question if some results are manufactured at times..

| The fact Leeds got so many on the run means our players didn't learn. This has been the case in too many games. we need to be more disciplined. Blaming the ref is what poor teams do, however there are occasions where non televised games are at a disadvantage, our 3 man break was a prime example, if the game was on Sky the play would have containued then reviewed for the crossing/obstruction.
We had plenty of possession in the last 20 metres but thought we could bash our way through Leeds. we needed someone to take control and use some guile but failed to do so.
As Loyal fan pointed out at the game, watching Parish's reactions was fair more entertaining than the game.

| Silverwood spolied the game by giving too many penalties meaning the game never really got going. Didn't really favour either side, in fact the spell when we got back to 16-22 was on the back of us getting 5 consecutive penalties, so can't really say he gave us nothing.
Why do will still make the same errors every week though? Take your pick from:
Kicking out on the full.
Interceptions.
Not finding touch from penalties.
Knocking on kick returns in our own 10/20m zone.
Getting a penalty then dropping the ball on the first/second tackle of the next set.
Get within 6 points then start doing the opposite to what has got us back into the game.
Another game where we had a good chance of winning but weren't smart enough to get the 2 points. Been quite a few of them this season.

Spot on ,
1st 10 -15 mins looked promising , quicker on the play, putting pressure on Leeds line but we made dumb choices on attack which Leeds easily dealt with , then Leeds broke from Ratchfords chip to the corner , went 90 yards through 3 sets of hands with one of the tries of the season . we then boot the ball out on the full and gift them another try . dispite the gifts that we were still in the game mid way through the 2nd half was pleasing , I thought the Anderson penalty for crossing when we looked like going over for a try that would have brought us within 2 points was the killer .
We are going to miss Cashmere more than Ratchford as he put in a awesome couple of spells. thought Smith played well from hooker early doors. Ratchford tried too hard going for the big play rather than the obvious moves , Rather see Snyed.
Going to take more than a couple of weeks to get our team playing as a team again.
Shineyplank was bad and missed plenty, especially the huge forward pass from Burrows break , but we'd lost the game with out his help.

| I think it was smith best game he has had in a red shirt by a country mile, all the players put the required effort in just lacked a bit of composure and creativity @ crucial times to get the win.
We made too many errors and Leeds took full advantage that is why they are a champion team.

We were watching parish as . He did a fair bit of storming to the back of the stand to them come back and start gesticulating towards the pitch. You definitely can't accuse him of not being an emotional coach from his display. And the way he strode across the pitch. I wonder if he's read the Alex Ferguson book of coaching with tea cups

You're suggesting a sensible reaction and that people read these things properly. Careful mate, that's a dangerous precedent to set.
The apparent obstruction, that one which no one else seemed to see, was the only one that stuck out as being a truly shocking, biased decision to me. Other than that, we got as bad a time as Leeds did.
