| I have to agree that Adam was the form prop in the 20s last season. He may even have been the form prop in the club. But I understand that he has signed with Workington, as has Andy Morris.
Morris had been let go, despite the fact that the club are now short handed for centres.
Walne apparently couldn't agree terms with SCR and probably thought that his chances under PV would be limited as well, so chose to move on.
I thought it was going to be a dual contract deal with Widnes, but I'm led to believe that may not be the case. Whichever, I wish the lad the best of luck and, despite the blinkered views of SCR's coaching staff, I am sure that we will all see him on the big stage in the future.

Confirmation re. Adam Walne here www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/town ... Path=sport
Adam will gain great experience at Town alongside Ewan Dowes, Jamie Thackray, Peter Lupton & Mark Calderwood as will several other good young players Town are bringing through and one or two could find their way to playing SL in the not too distant future.

| Belated attempt to lure Andy Powell to Salford by Brian Noble
Quote Powell is also thought to have turned down a late approach from new Salford chief Brian Noble.
“Brian first asked me to come across to rugby league when I was about 18,” said the back-rower.
“I was going to do it two years ago (at Celtic Crusaders, also with Noble) but I hadn’t done a [rugby union World Cup. Now the time is right.”

| Surprised this hasn't been mentioned but I like most thought the last player we were going to sign for this season was going to be Dixon, but with the turn around in Londons fortunes he has resigned for them. Wonder if we'll just leave it or look elsewhere? still think we are lacking in the backs, can't see Gleeson going all the way through the season and would like to see utility back brought in to cover across the back line.

| From a Saints point of view, whilst Meli is a good winger, he's a superb centre. its a pity he won't be getting played there.
Regard Puletua, you'll see he's a lot better in the middle of the park. Whilst you might expect his running to have more effect out wide, he struggles to get involved. When he's plying up the middle, the works forced on him a little with very positive results.
From what I've heard from you guys, it would be a shame if Andrew Dixon couldn't hold onto his spot. it would be nice to see him get a run out with the new back up.

| Just looking at the squad for next season (early I know) but do we appear to be very short of backs? )Not sure whats happening with Jon Ford or Edwin and Walton appears to be moving into the pack.)
Although on that note looking at its a very youthful back-line and if fact a young squad, I'd guess that more than 20 of the names on the list of the first page of this thread are 25 and under!

I was surprised to see this

Have seen him play a couple of times and he has pace too burn, hope there's a 1st option buy back clause.

| This is a big mistake letting this lad go, he's been stuck on the wing all year, when anybody with half a brain can see he belongs in the spine of the team.. Prediction by me, three years time he'll have been signed by a super league team. Probably as a hooker !!!
