| We have all been there. The problem with Salford is the way everyone has been mouthing off since day one under the doctor how you're going to run away with everything just because he can buy who he wants. Maybe you should try a few of your juniors..........oh hang on you can't.
Stick with it. Quiten down . It's bound to happen. Get a proper coach. Crack on see you soon at the KC

| A big part of why Saints/Wigan/Leeds do well is they have a team full of lads who grew up supporting the club they play for, that alone gives them more drive and pride.
Morley unfortunately has little to offer now (i felt bad writting that), Harrison is the captain, he needs to convey/transfer his pride into a band of mercenaries and people who are living off past reputation, neigh on impossible.
Quick fix never seems to work in this game, he needs to heavily invest(if he hasn't already) in the local youth.

| Truely awful display after the promises of last week, to have 50 put past you at home (even if it was the champions) with that team is just simply not acceptable.
The defence was woeful, some of the one on one tackling was embarrassing, I cannot believe that no ones mentioned Grifthen at right centre he was blowing after 10 mins and his poor positional play leaked 3 try's down the right.
Locke being selected the mind boggles, when Evalds is equally as good.
As for the crowd for a Thursday night on Sky I thought it wasn't toooooo bad, but certainly will not have done us any favours with the casual attenders watching from the armchair.
Certainly has to be a 200% committed team improvement against Hull or we could be starting 0/4, morale wise that would be a difficult hole to pull overselves from for a top 8 finish.

| Had the same conversation about local youth in Eccles RL last night, only just getting set on that front but I think it's years too late. Feel sorry for the Doc what has he got himself in to, not felt this low about a game for years still hard to comprehend.
It'll be hard to convince others let alone myself to go again for the foreseeable future, such a let down as always really thought after all these years we were turning a corner...gutted.

Looks like a player that doesn't want to be here to me. I'll be shocked if still playing in super league by the end of the season.

I agree on that, there looks to be a lingering injury that he's brought over with him, let's face it he's young and brilliant on his day so why did no NRL team offer him more than we did?
Evalds is undoubtedly the future at full back for Salford.

| Devastating is not a word I like to use very often but after that performance last night, I think it merits it!
Salford needed to win against saints to send out a message to those fans who are sitting on the fence about whether to come back and start watching them, unfortunately that message was sent out loud and clear and has probably pushed Salford back another 6 months in trying to persuade them to return.
I got the feeling last night that the players believed in their own hype and thought all they need to do is turn up. They lacked composure, fitness, energy and most of all passion! Salford need big fast mobile forwards like Greenwood, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Amor etc. These type of players will give you energy, drive and size and will lay down the platform for the backs to do their stuff. Salford also need to pay attention to the detail on and off the pitch and I don’t mean just detail on how they play but detail on how they look, perception is very important for example I personally hate it when I see players wearing socks pulled down, they look unprofessional and scruffy. I think every single Saints player last night had their socks pulled up and looked smart and professional throughout the whole game. I know it sounds daft saying stuff like that but it is just an example of the marginal gains on and off the pitch that make the difference, ask Dave Brailsford he will tell you. We need a complete overhaul on stuff like the player’s diet, the players sleeping regime even down to what type of car they drive, all these things will have a bearing on what type of condition they will be in mentally and physically when playing a game.
Sorry for the moan but I am just gutted and I don’t think things could really get any worse. We need to reset ourselves work even harder and quietly go about our business and stop bigging ourselves up until we earn the right!
One last thing and a few fans have touched on this already but we definitely need players who are fans of the club, they will give you more passion and desire. Just look across the ship canal to our neighbours United and the class of 92. The reason why they were and are so successful was because they had Scholes, Beckham, Neville, Butt and Giggs all fans and all willing to die for the club!

There's a brilliant young player over in Leigh who lives and breathes Salford he'd do for a start, Evalds to the best of my knowledge is a Salford fan too.

| I wouldn't read too much into that, surely you didn't go into that game thinking you might feasibly win? There is a long season ahead, I still think Salford have enough quality to avoid the million pound game. From there hopefully you invest in youth, that's the way forward

Exactly I personnally was extremely happy and enthused by last weeks performance looking like we'd picked up on the form at the back end of last season, this just puts us back 6 months both mentally and from a fan base point of view.

| I can't put my finer on last night's performance, Looks like we took Saints for granted not just the players but the coaching staff as well. Trust me this is the lowest we've been since the arrival of Koukash!

| The problem is if you look at Saints starting props and rotation compared to yours you are nowhere near. Plus Roby V Lee no chance. How Lee keeps getting contracts I have no idea. Blowing big cap money on a full back when you have Lee at 9 in very badly advised. As said need to win the battle in the middle. Sims who Warrington signed or someone of his power and attitude is required.

The real test will be how they get on against Huddersfield, Widnes and the two Hulls. If they can pick up a decent number of points against them and consistently turn over their fellow bottom 4 candidates then it won't matter if they keep getting stuffed by the big boys. Get to 8th place by the time of the split and it will mean no threat of relegation and more cash for the club

I'm afraid I agree with this point of view.
Salford have picked up a few misfits and they're not doing what they hoped.
Hock, great potential, but puts his team in the red because he can't keep his cool.
Chase, great individual, but can't play well in a structure. Cas did better once he'd left.
Players like Griffin the Hairpuller and Scott Taylor have arrived at Salford under clouds after being released by their clubs.
Tasi seems useful, but you're lacking workhorses. Huby would have been a good target for you.
They've obviously got some solid pros in Morley, Dobson, Harrison and they have some promising youngsters, but the general infantry of the squad is riddled with flaky characters. Makes me feel sorry for young Dixon getting shipped out when he'd have tackled all night.
Salford started okay last night, many Saints fans were expecting us to lose, but once the initial exchanges hadn't gone the Red's way, they gave up. Real shame for everyone concerned.

| In over sixty years of supporting Salford, last night has to be one of the most disappointing games we've had. We've had false dawns before, but I struggle to remember games when we've been so comprehensively outplayed in any game - and that includes Bradford away in 2000.
I try hard not to believe all the hype but did genuinely think that the days when we suffered humiliations like last night were gone for good. Everyone involved needs to take a good, hard look at themselves in the mirror. Saints were good, defended excellently, played with structure and moved the ball wider - but in truth, they didn't need to be that good to beat the team that faced them last night.
What Salford have to prove now is that last night was an uncharacteristic blip, never to be repeated.
It's difficult enough getting new people to come to games; performances like last night's don't encourage die-hard fans to come back, let alone newcomers.
I am trying to believe that things can only get better, but this morning I'm finding it difficult.

| I forgot to mention Lee. Hooker's such an important role in the team and there's plenty of decent ones about.
With all due respect, this is a position that needs sorting ASAP for the Reds.
Letting Syned go with all the promise he'd shown and replacing him with an expensive show pony in Chase - Cas picked up Liam Finn for presumably less money and started to excel.
They should have been going for players like Huby, Milner, Kirmond and building a good solid, no frills pack that could reliably grind it out against 2/3 of the league. Then get a half back who can kick and you'll turn over any team who turns up off form or not respecting possession.
What's the lad playing in the halves for Leigh called (not Breierly)? Nice little general who would relish a last go at SL at a club that could be creating something special.
BJB was a good move, as was Caton-Brown, but its no good being able to play the piano if you've got no one to carry it to the theatre.

No. We usually played Rangi as the only half back and just played an extra forward.
However, I don't think Rangi and Sneyd every actually played together! Having seen both, I think this could work well.

For his best two years rangi played alongside Danny Orr who took care of the more conventional stuff like organising the team and kicking.
Looking from the outside in Salford have no balance to the team at all,for every good player there is a poor one at the side of him.
Look at all the good teams and they all have a good balance between class, workhorses and a sprinkling of young lads who have come through the youth system that have hunger and a desire to succeed, look at saints last night and the young players in their team were nothing short of superb.
I don't know who's advising Marwa koukash but the biggest investment made when taking over should of been into the youth development.
I'm pretty sure jumping from player to player and from coach to coach won't work it needs a long term plan and tiny steps forward if it's ever going to be successful unfortunately time and patience doesn't look like its something marwan has.

Agree with everything you say.
In the past four seasons we have spent heavily on wages. Weve built up major interest in the club and on every occassion its fallen flat.
Look at the positive attendances at these 3 for example
- Catalans last game at The Willows
- Cas first game at City of Salford Stadium
- Wakefield first game of 2014
Everytime we have failed to deliver and the crowds have dropped off alarmingly.
Last Saturday we took one of the biggest away followings I can recall and everything was v positive. Last night has deflated everyone. We will be lucky to attract 2k home fans for the Hull game.
I fear that if the Dr's approach is not rewarded soon then there will be no one able to pick up the pieces.

| Something is obviously not working at our club for one reason or another.
If I had any advice for Marwan this is what it would be...
-Stop making huge statements and putting unnecessary pressure on the players
-Have patience (Wire lost their first 5 games in 2009 and won the Challenge Cup)
-Put heaps of money in the youth system and bring through hungry young players
-Make sure we have some decent trial games before the season starts
-Focus on making Salford a success first before you try and take the NRL by storm too, you can't run before you can walk
-Stay positive and believe, it's a long season and we WILL improve!
Manchester City are a fantastic example of this, they are throwing multi-millions at their academies to make the club self sustainable for the future.
