Terrific player to watch, when he plays!, but that doesn't seem too often on this season's evidence - have we just got another injury prone Aussie or has he genuinely had a run of bad luck?

That may be the case and hopefully it is. Yet the wording of the article insinuates that without new investment, there's no budget.

I don't know. I would expect it means he can't wriggle out of his contract with Salford, who will keep his registration. So perhaps the situation is similar to James Jiminez's in 2008, in that if he wants to go home, he can't play for anyone during the remainder of his contract.

still Plying his trade in the Illawarra League's for Steelharbour Workers RLFC 1st grade .. where he feels at home
Notice He was playing against a team with a half-back pairing of Nathan & Blake Dureau , who play for Wests Illawarra nicknamed the Red Devils ... presumably related to Catalans' Scott.

not that I've heard , but he's a goal kicking stand off or centre and he's pretty much back in Saint's 20's at present , he's young and not Australian, 2 + points.
only others mentioned :-
Full back Matty Russell on season loan from Wigan
linked with the Warrington's Irlam born 2nd Row/Centre Matty Blythe.

| Was stopped by a Fax fan at the GF last night and asked what I thought about Salford signing Sam Barlow. Asked the lad if it was a done deal and he says he knows Barlow, who confirmed it's true. My knowledge of the championship and championship 1 is pretty poot tbh, has anyone seen the lad play? Looks a big lad so would add a bit of size to the pack.

| Know it doesn't fit in with the winding up/not winding up news but.
With the lack of half decent front rowers sure Craig Kopczak would be a decent buy now he is a free agent. Always thought he was a decent no thrills prop who will run the ball in hard all day and not to shabby in defense.

| According to the MEN Martin Gleeson meant to be lined up for next year so obviously a Long influenced signing I'd say. With no baggage I'd say yes but keeping him clear of anything controversial seems a little tricky, I'd rather play Moon and Ford in the centres.

| Considering the club's current financial plight, we should be grateful if the club are still in SL next year. On the other hand, why is there no talk of signing another prop or a big second row. We can't continue to hope our backs get us out of a hole!

Yet not one prop forward after we were bullied for half the season Jewitt is out only front rower who I'd rate. Sidlow has a good off load but no aggression, Boyle and James and not SL standard. Gledhill started off ok, didn't not show the promise after his injury. Hopefully Wane will get a few games against lesser side but no expecting much as he is still raw. Oh forgot McPherson, easily our best prop, has good impact, just hope for an injury free season.
PS. How are the young 2 forwards to started against KR a couple seasons progressing? They been released with this new system or kept on (Davidson and Marriott?)

| Callum Marriott was finished by Salford, together with a number of other U20s, 3 days before their big play-off match against Wigan. As mentioned on another thread, he has now signed for Oldham and I wish him the best of luck.
Alex Davidson is contracted for another year and, together with the Adam (prop) and Jordan (second row) Walne, Adam Files (hooker) and Dan Bretherton (wing) haven't got a clue where they will play next season.
PV's policy, as demonstrated last season, is to ignore the club's younger players, to the extent that he does not include them in full training until he wants to use them as cannon fodder. As he did the night before the 20s were due to play Leeds in the play- offs, stating that the first team's match against Wakefield (at Leigh) was more important!
Other SL clubs have paired up with Championship clubs to allow their youngsters to gain experience and game time. Coming to such an arrangement doesn't actually incur a cost, but guess which club hasn't got such an arrangement yet?
And because there won't be anybody else left, we'll be sending our boys two and a half hours away to Workington because every other club here, in the heart of rugby league land, will already be paired up elsewhere!
It's not just money SCR are short of!!

| Totally agree!! This is the best bunch of yougsters we have probably ever had at the cluba nd we are letting the majority of them go. Its ridiculous. Agree about Vievers, he has had numerous opportunities to blood some of the young lads and baulked. Maybe this is something to do withthe fact he Is on a 1 year contract and therefore for his own safety has to go for the short term look and go for the strongest team as opposed to the long term view. Marriott, both Walnes, Theo, Evalds, Bortherton, whitehead and holmes are all young lads who should have or be promoted this year. Why oh why we haven’t forged a link with Oldham or someone is beyond me and instead have fired a few lads off to Cumbria for a few weeks loan is stupid. Please Salford don’t mess this up for the club and let all these talent youngsters go!! I think the Marriott thing will come back to haunt us as if he continues to develop he will be one hell of a front rower. From a fans point of view I would much rather watch young lads come through our academy and play for the shirt than pay to watch some aussie who is here for a pay day and has no affiliation to the club. Guaranteed we sign some aussies who when they get interviewed in the preseason and state how “happy they are to be at Salford and excited about what a great historic club they are” still can’t pronounce Salford correctly (Sal- Ford) Come on Reds lets put some pride back in the shirt and make us fans proud of watching a team full of home grown youngsters!! One last gripe!!icon_smile.gif I cannot stand how our ground is now always refered to as a “great facility”!! not a HOME!!!

Are these still under contract at Salford for the upcoming season? At least we have kept hold of some of the better u20s players if so.
Agree about Vievers. It would be good to see us plan any new signings around the positions which we could put a couple of the 20s in, however once again the 20s players will no doubt be ignored when it comes to the recruitment policy and we will fill any positions where we already have a decent player coming through with either a loan signing or average squad/utility player released from another club.

| Well Adam Walne is on his way to Cumbria but not on loan. He has signed for Workington Town. Also Workington are paired up with Widnes so I can't see any Salford lads going on loan up there.
