Yep, The Willows was gutted. It needs considerable money spending on it to be presentable. Unless, of course, the fans carry out the renovation works and decoration...

I doubt the stadium management company would have agreed to a significant rent reduction if it weren't for a) the spectre of moving back to The Willows; and b) Salford City Council's interest in both grounds.

But the point is that these people tell other people...and then the 'brand/image' of salford reds is ruined as people think it is the same pants organisation that was at the willows getting spanked by 50 and 60 points.

Now ask yourselves three questions:
1: Has the club's income increased?
2: Have the club's costs decreased?
3: Have we found any new investors to help plug the financial black hole?

If, as I suspect the answer to all 3 is no, then we are in pretty deep mire!

Someone (Red1?) posted earlier on this thread making the point that the debt is primarily to JW therefore as long as he doesn't call it in then it doesn't really matter. My reading of the accounts is that that is true BUT 2 years ago the debt was increasing by £490,000 per year so required someone to stump that much up every year - if the answers to questions 1 and 2 are "no" then this is undoubtedly much worse now so where is salvation to come from?

I'm not really a genius at this sort of stuff , but the chart linked to earlier in the thread had us in the black in 2009 and now in the red by 4m for 2012.

I have received the accounts for over 15 years,the club has lost money every year of trading.This loss is under written by Mr Wilkinson and Mr Clague. The accounts linked were 2010, so it is fair to assume we could be a further £1million in arrears, under written by the above named benefactors. Who could blame them,if they have had enough?

This isn't about the build up of debt,it's more about the Directors having to keep putting more money in to ensure the club continues to exist in its present form.
So,to all those that give them stick or accuse them of mismanagement,be careful what you wish for.
If they're either unable or unwilling to keep putting money in,then that's it folks!

I tend to agree that there has been a lack of vision in where SCR should have been going, and certainly a lack of scrutiny of those tasked to deliver the vision - hindsight is a wonderful thing !

But PT do you seriously give no credit to the man who has kept SCR afloat?

I think the top and bottom of all this is that there have been a number of rumours about our state for some time... There have been a number of articles in a number of different newspapers from a number of different journalists... There have been a number of people who have heard things from the people at the club... what worries me is... surely all this hasn't come from one person saying 'Salford are skint and heading for the knackers yard'... and it's then just snowballed.

As they say... no smoke without fire and there certainly seems to be a lot of smoke at the minute.

As for Chris Bird, he's a lovely chap - and very good at what he does. Personally I would love him to be involved with us, sadly what he does has nothing to do with Salford and had nothing to do with the Leeds Rhinos promotion - that was run by the club and the RFL. Was reading this over the course of the day and it gave me a chuckle.

Firstly if anyone did/does know someone on the board and their feelings became known here I'd guess they wouldn't have a seat on the board for much longer so it would be folly to allow it to happen..
Second I fail to see why Sir JW and HC would let the club go into administration thus putting at risk any potential return they would make if the club as a whole was sold.

Third as someone else has stated the Willows is a waste ground and would need massive investment to redevelop to get it to even NL standards, the Variey will never be reopened as a going concern meaning that if Salford did look to go semi pro into a lower division they would either stay at Barton or look for a ground share until they simply expired.

I was chatting with someone at work a few days ago who came up with some wild gossip about a missing £4,000,000 from the clubs coffers but wouldn't give it any trhift as anything other malicious gossip.
I look at as Wilkys toy and he can play with as he sees fit, sure were not breaking any records but our benefactor continually shows he has deep pockets to keep out heads above water, in super league and currently playing an entertaining and exciting brand of rugby. Until we find a buyer we should keep our faith in a man who without doubt has Salford Reds running through his veins.

Some people need to look around! rugby league is not in a good position, it is not confined to the Salford City reds.
Businesses are going under a rate of knots, the world economy is in free fall yet Salford City failure is down to one man.
As I have said before I am not a fan of JW but it is his security keeping the club a float & as for many years now, look at the numbers, do the maths we are nowhere near breaking even, someone must pick up the tab. Some of you fans who continue to condemn him please step forward with your vision.

If Salford city reds was such a good investment, investors would be lining up to invest, not only in Salford but in the rest of rugby league.
Most super league clubs are supported up by dedicated sugar daddy's to survive unfortunately our sugar daddy as ran out of money.

has funded it. Without that funding, you would be supporting nothing. Now those funds are running out, you call him. Maybe now (e.g the Quays, the high cost of following a football team etc.) but not in the 90's or mosy of the 00's. I dispute the term "great" and suggest it be changed to "some".

I know personally, my concerns with the way in which the club is run have nothing to do with Wilky and the other directors. I'm more concerned about the damage done by Tarry and others underneath him over the years that have led to said directors having to put in much more than they should have. That is the problem and I'm sure most people are aware of that and grateful to Wilky and the rest for keeping the club afloat.

We need to realise that our directors also have other full-time businesses/jobs that provide the income they decide to invest in Salford. If they take their attention away from those primary incomes, their families suffer and we suffer.
Therefore they need put priority on those and rely on paid officials to run the Rugby Club. What have these persons done?

Who hired Mr Tarry in the first place,not them working under him.
