Move Mr Patels over priced corner shop into Morrisons and charge the same prices and there is no change other than the venue where your getting fleeced. Any fool can see that a new stadium with a poorly run RL team in it is only ever going to tread water or deteriorate.

It's only a wholesale change if the club are ready for the move. If we carry on the way the club is currently being run at the new stadium we are unlikely to progress.
In regards to the 'sack everyone' comment, I would prefer it if changes weren't needed. However if the new coach is miffed after only being here a month, what does that say about the way certain things are being run? As others have said, maybe we can only afford to make small changes, and need to target areas that need the most improvement, but even that would be better than nothing.

Are you seriously happy with the way the club has been run? Does it not concern you one bit that ex players, coaches and rugby people from afar criticise the way it's run?
None of us on here are saying there's an easy answer and most are fully aware that a lot of finance is needed in the club which looks unlikely to come in. This is a forum for people to vent and discuss the issues with Salford, you seem happy to criticise anyone who is unhappy with the running of the club.
All is not rosey and all is not well. You've highlighted the Stadium as a positive. Whilst I'm delighted that were moving to a new home the endless problems we've had to get here only serves to show up the many off field problems we've had.

| I'm actually a bit disappointed at MP's comments. As a Wanderers fan I thought Parrish could/would be our Owen Coyle (getting a lot more out of the same squad than his predecessor) but I now fear I was wrong.
Anyone can say "I'd do a dead good job here given a truck-load of money" but everyone knows it's just not available.
I'm glad to hear Parrish publically acknowledging some of the faults we knew/suspected existed at the club, and hope that JAW and Co support him to the best of their capabilities, but he has to learn to work within a tight budget and needs to get more out of the players we can afford to sign than McRae was able to.

I cant agree more FL.
He must have spoken to present players and coaches here in the UK and Oz to know exactly what he was coming to.
Everyone knows there has been trouble behind the scenes, lack of money and small fan base so why now sound so surprised ?
It is refreshing to hear some of the comments, but I would much rather he got on with trying to get a couple of wins in what is left of this season to give us all hope for next year.

Quote I really cannot believe some of our fans no wonder we're in the mess we are and have been for years if fans are willing to accept the dross the club has produced for years. You really do need to wake up and see the bigger picture, the whole of rugby league think we're a joke, players come to the club without having medicals, players have clauses in contracts that no professional player should have. Simms has a lot to answer for as does Mr Wilkinson and the rest of the board.
The club is badly run both on and off the field the sooner people realise that then maybe as a club we can move on.'"

Really?
I'm delighted hopefully now something will change. Its no good the fans just saying it, now someone on the inside has come out said what the problem is with Salford RLFC maybe just maybe the board will be shaken into action, because one things for sure we can't take this unprofessional approach the club currently have into the new stadium.

| Quote ="Red Willow"I am surprised this has come as news to anyone. Harrison said this on taking up post in 2002. He wanted to change everything at the club from the retail and backroom onwards.
Parish has to realise that RL is a minority sport in england and even more so in Salford. The changes he wants are a long term project and we can't honestly expect John and Howard to fund this club to the degree Parish wants. We need a real money man like Moran for that.
I wish Matt the best as he could be the cataylist we need to push on. We need to encourage young players that Salford is a club they can trust their future to, and maybe airing all this in the public domain isn't the best way.'"
Making sure the club operates in a professional way off the field and goes about player recruitment in a thorough manner costs little if anything to implement.
Surely for a club with such scant resources we need to make sure that all aspects of the club are operating at full capacity if we are to attempt to compete with the big boys and this is clearly not happening. A simple look at the Trish era can see the improvements that can be made by maximising what we have.
If anyone thinks we are getting value for money from Simms and Tarry I really do despair. They say the first step to solving a problem is admitting it but the amount of denial on here is frightening.

I agree about Trish Goldsmith but I remember lots of comments from supporters who were not happy with the way that she went about her job.
I wish that we had her around at this particular time to push the new stadium etc.

Slightly less worried after seeing this, don't think the club would give him this official platform if they didn't either respect or fully back the concerns he aired on Thursday.
Don't know what to make though of the quote about Cashmere, does it mean it's Cashmere looking to leave or that we are not actually trying to retain him??

far from it - listening to that it sounds like Ray's own decision - his contract his ended it's his call - clearly MP recognises his worth - as do the rest of us!

| I know Ray (and particularly his missus) wanted to go home at the end of last season so I was pleasantly surprised to see him return this year (I also thought it was to his credit that he was willing/committed to seeing out his contract with us).
I can't see that things will have changed much in the last 12 months so am pretty sure it'll be his choice if he goes home.
Why would anyone at the club want him to go?! He's been our best forward by a mile!

| It's a shame if Cashmere doesn't want to stay but a tragedy if it is from the club's side. I can understand anyone who feels homesick whether that's him or his wife or both. Having done his 3 years playing out of an antiquated stadium and having carried the pack for most of that time it seems only fitting that he should get at least one year playing at the quality facility he thought he might have played at when he originally signed.
I'll be sorry to see him go. It's probably been difficult to keep motivated over the period he's been here and he has done well to maintain the level he has.

| As an outsider I think a train wreck is coming with Matt Parish although I do like his attitude.
The problem is sometimes even when someone speaks the truth, depending on who they are it is not well received. Eg I'm a Warrington fan and I can tell you all that Salford are crap and have been a joke for the past decade or more. All the Salford fans know this is true and agree with me but your natural reaction would be to say "where were Warrington before 2009 then? we might be crap but we managed to beat you a few weeks back...??" because you don't think it's my place to tell you. The Salford board are going to react the same way to Parish...he's just a newcomer to head coaching and has proved nothing yet and they will think he should wind his neck in.
Unfortunately the board control what happens next. If the changes that Parish wants, do not take place, then Parish is going to have a crap squad and probably get beaten most weeks, which will just strengthen the board's position and weaken Parish's especially as some supporters will start getting disgruntled when results don't improve, so in the end when the board are fed up of him they can get rid and cite poor results, then get a yes man in as coach who will be easier to deal with.
Shades of Cas in 2004 when they were bottom of the league, brought Ellery Hanley in as Coaching Director, Hanley told them some home truths that they didn't want to hear, so they got rid, and went down anyway! Eventually Cas brought Matterson in who had some more strong views on what was wrong with the club, and the board backed him, and there was a turn around BUT even then there was another relegation and promotion to go through before Cas got themselves back in order.
I think to get real change you need one of these strong characters but you also need a board who will trust in them and do what they say needs doing, and stick with them through a long turning period, eg Matterson at Cas and also Tony Smith at Huddersfield, who were absolute garbage from 1998-2000 and then Smith came in, made major changes, and still managed to set a record for losing his first 13 straight games as a head coach....he had a supportive board and chairman (who had money as well) and so was able to turn it round, will this happen at Salford....I fear not.
