| Quote ="Michigan red"Just read the following quote from Noble on the club site
"But technically they kicked far better than we did. We got a lesson on how to kick the ball tonight. The way we are finishing our sets is killing us".
If kicking is all important why leave out Snyed our best kicker from hand, OK he may be the best of a bad bunch but at least he is the best kicker.
I had to listen to the first half and get on a plane and it was even more pain for me, we seemed to ushering Wakefield through all the time. One thing that was constantly mentioned was the sheer size of the Wakefield pack in comparison to ours so think Noble will shortly have to revert to type and get some big units on board (I'd go for Ewan Dowes until the end of the season as he's a pack leader).
One plus was that Adam Neal was co commentator on BBC and was pretty decent at it, let's hope that SKY take note of these things for future reference.'"
Wakefield have a very big pack with only Washbrook and Kirmond on the smaller size. Wilkes, Amor, Poore and Ali and perhaps Mariano are all over 17 stone - didn't see a Salford player who looked that size.
Size isn't everything but it still hurts and when a big pack wants to beat a small pack the result is usually waht happened last night. You certainly need some grunt up front.

Only 9 more games left of watching crap! Then hopefully the new Red Devils will give the super league "hell" sorry couldn't resist.

Nothing personal but Mauro, Foran and McGoldrick have all proved to be shocking signings. Vievers should be acknowledged for making the worse signings in superleague history. I think his sacking was justified on making these signings alone regardless of poor results.
The former Manly reserves arrived unfit and have been given plenty time now but they are simply not good enough for this level and certainly not the kind of players we need if we want to progress.
I am at a total loss at how Mauro figured in an NRL Grand Final. I can only think he has suffered some kind of permanent injury since then. Just what was Vievers thinking offering these boys 3 year contracts and McGoldrick 2 years? To compound matters Iām told all three players are on big money.
So what can the club do going forward because we canāt afford to be carrying a couple of passengers that are taking up quota spots? One solution could be to try and move them on to championship clubs and offer to make a sizeable contribution towards their contracts.

I've got to agree with that assessment.
All three are offering us nothing and have had ample opportunity to show otherwise.

| I didn't hear of or see anyone having a pop at Noble, I did see the players getting some stick, but thats understandable after the dross they served up. However whilst we're on the subject of Noble surely it's time to bring Gareth Owen back in? I can't for the life of me understand why Noble has dropped him other that he likes to play experienced players (and always has) for some reason. Get Sneyd back in at fullback, give Gaskell a go at 6 with Theo at 7 and Owen back at 9. And bring anyone in for Mauro I don't care who, someone from the disabled section will do (no offence meant to anyone apart from Mauro of course).

I guess if Noble doesn't want them he will get the Doc to pay them up and let them go at the end of the season. Surfice to say I doubt any of them would have been offered more than a 1 year deal if Noble had been in situ from the start of the season.
I'm not that sure that Foran won't turn into a decent player myself as there are signs but with Mauro I agree he doesn't look like he is SL class never mind NRL grand final material.

| I don't really want to pick on individuals, but enough is enough. The three Aussies who are regularly picked look extremely unfit. This is half way through the season, so no excuses please. If they aren't unfit, they simply aren't good enough. Even for us. Either that, or they just aren't interested.
One is no better than Sneyd. Another is no better than Owen. And the last is no better than James. Hopefully the more enthusiastic, British talent we have won't be made expendable for their sakes

I don't like singling out individuals either but they have to go it's as simple as that. I just can't see anything to suggest they will come good.

They may be alright at championship level where the speed of the game and intensity is much lower. If Salford offered to pay say 65% of the contract then teams in the championship could be tempted. A championship club could use some imagination like giving them day jobs such as working in the club shop, washing the kit and cutting the grass to justify the extra wages.

I don't think anyone should lose sight of the fact that the signings were made against a backdrop of the club being hugely in debt and 2 players NOT signed by Veivers being part of a winding-up order for non-payment of wages.
I would guess the recruitment of Mauro and Foran was made last November when Veivers was in Australia.

It doesn't excuse just signing any overseas players willing to jump on a plane. The fact is Vievers made a terrible error of judgement on the quality, cost and contract duration of these signings and now Noble has inherited a major problem that needs sorting out.

Appearing in GF's (Tim Jonkers ) is no guarantee you are making a good signing.
Paul Carige appeared in a Grand Final for the Eels , and regularly comes top in worst overseas signing ever ,
the above 3 ' Stooges ' are pushing him close

Didn't Paul Carige single-handedly lose the Grand Final for Parramatta?

There are always risks with every signing-particularly those from overseas.
Peter Gentle at Hull FC signed a regular from the NRL in Seymour and he has suffered from depression with the much reported end to his career at that club.I would suspect more money was spent on him.
We have also had one 'supporter' having a go at Foran on Twitter.Hardly helpful.
I don't have the best links but I have one touching on Matt King having a difficult first year at Warrington and Morley in
Australia [url=http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2009/aug/25/adrian-morley-warrington-challenge-cup-finalHERE[/url
and there is the famous soccer one where the manager who signred him was sacked and then the player went on to great things;and he only flew in from Europe [url=http://www.givemesport.com/336346-nal-legend-the-story-of-dennis-bergkampStory[/url
There is also the 'other brother' syndrome which appears to be a very difficult task to overcome.
I have just watched the Sky coverage of the Etihad victory and it was Foran who got under Pickersgill to save a certain try. That determination has not been repeated by anyone in the 2 subsequent 80 minute appearances.
Be a good test to see how Noble gets an improvement from Foran knowing the upheaval at the club over the past months/year.
There is a quote I quite like from Ella Wilcox -[i A pat on the back is only a few vertebrae removed from a kick in the pants, but is miles ahead in results. [/i

| I think Foran has done ok but is he worth the contract and the build up he got, I would say no. Mauro is shocking. You could ask anyone to go and do what he does (or doesn't) on the pitch.
I am baffled by Noble's playing of McGoldrick. He is clearly past it and has done little since being in the team other than almost bring us a defeat against Castleford in the last minutes with some rank indiscipline.
I do think Noble should throw the youngsters in. If there has been one success this season it is the emergence of young players.
Fages shows promise but is not yet a first choice Super League scrum half but his experience this year has put him on the way to being one.
Sneyd has made errors for sure but has been one of better players this season. I am mystified why Owen is not getting in the side. He brings pace and creativity around the play the ball. Him and Godwin worked perfectly well together.
Walne has gone well since he came in the side and Evalds too has never let himself down.
Surely, they must all get extended runs between now and the end of the season. They may just save us some money that can be invested elsewhere.

Interesting to see the emergence of youngsters this year at other clubs in Super League and the quality of those from Championship clubs.
I would prefer the youngsters to start away from home but after Monday night they may just be the way to keep the supporters onside.
With young Files getting rave reports at Oldham in Championship 1 another Walne is well thought of at [url=http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/town/workington-town-extend-salford-star-s-loan-1.1062453?referrerPath=sport/townWorky[/url
