| Let's begin with the fact I have no axe to bear against Sale: in fact, tonight, if I hung back after work for a drink I would be with Sale fans as I work within spitting distance of Stockport's ground.Secondly I also have no qualm with any sport going into any school: I was a teacher for 27 years.
If you check my posts I refer to the very likely situation if Salford RLFC became either a junior partner of or subservient to Sale RUFC. Both become trading rivals in an area committed to football and both work out of the same base.
I refer you to my posts to what I expect will happen.

| Quote ="Iain":5b6vfux1In a nutshell and from limited knowledge. He bought Stockport County, including Edgeley Park, and moved Sale in. Then Stockport's fortune's plummeted (I don't know the reasons), the football club (minus the ground) was then sold to the Supporters Trust to try to run on a shoestring, and the football club became tenants at Edgeley Park. They've since had major financial issues and are now near the bottom of the conference.'"
Do you think though that it could end up being a good thing for Salford to have a rival club playing out of their own stadium? Not to be disrespectful in anyway, but they don't put themselves about much in the media round here. If Sale are directly competing with them and on their turf then it could be the swift kick up the backside that Salford needed to assert themselves as the third biggest sporting club of the Salford-Manchester area.

How would Salford be able to assert itself if its run by a business team whose main priority is Sale? it makes no financial or business sense to keep 2 sets of sales and marketing and media teams and i would expect it would be the Sale side that would be kept on. If Kennedy was to buy Salford, it might not give him any physical assets, but it would give him top priority in the stadium. The ability to priortize fixtures to suit Sale's corporate hospitality and therefore open them up to increased revenue in itself must be worth the investment. Remember we chose friday as our business plan included generating a sizable chunk of our income through hospitality. it may only affect half our season but that could still be a significant amount to our club

You'd be sharing a stadium, that's it. Your marketing and PR team would be a completely different entity to Sale's and the stadium's (assuming the stadium will even have one). Your team would promote Salford, their's would promote Sale. The two would only merge if one club bought the other out, otherwise they would remain seperate. Salford would be still be run by Salford, there wouldn't be a conflict of priorities within their organisation. This is what I'm suggesting. Salford have a reival sporting club, not only in the same area, but the same roof, which forces them to start marketing much harder than they have done in the past.

you're missing my point, which is that if Kennedy was to buy our club, which is something i fear will happen, then we'd be sharing more than the stadium and therefore we may not necessarily be given the same level of priority

| Because he could then give Sale an advantage in a stadium where we are both tenants. As it stands, they'd fit round our fixtures, training schedules and any private use of the ground for community, schools projects and 'it's a knockout'.

Sale have thier own training facilities down in Ashton On Mersey so they would'nt I suspect need the training piches. Still suspect that the two clubs will share certain aspects of backroom staff to save costs.

| kenndy not bothered about buying our place,
if they moved in on a ground share???????
salford would be out of our stadium within 3 years,
it wouldnt take much for the RFL to get rid of us, and once the union lot start playing on our pitch it wont be any gud, look at leeds look at stockport , the answer from me is no.
but who cares what the fans think, not the club thats for sure.

this has nothing to do with the club, we are tenants of the ground therefore the landlords can do what they want, I just wish people would actually read all the stuff before blaming Salford RLFC.

Funnily enough I posted on our board that Leigh needed to implement a five year plan , culminating with a SL application for 2018 to coincide ( tongue in cheek ) with you moving into Agecroft with Swinton
Them moving into Barton is probably out of your hands , the recently announced catering deal would suggest they are in , as good as the facility is , if somebody is willing to pay 26 grand a week for 520 weeks , they will want more than 15 guaranteed events a year to start clawing back that investement

| What if Swinton wanted to also play in the stadium? Would Salford fans be worried that John Kidd might want to buy the stadium and that Salford's potential players of the future are going to poached away to play under the mighty Steve McCormack?

Or even pay £25k a week for 520 weeks
i'm guessing you missed the following sentance from the catering announcement
"Azure will also be responsible for marketing and selling the stadium’s conferencing offer for non-match day use".
i'm guessing from that they see more potential in the other 350 days of the year and see losing revenue/breaking even on the 15 days we play as a small price to pay

Oops got the maths wrong , yes I did see , and in fact quoted it either on this thread or the stadium one , however I doubt they will be looking to lose or break even on match days , they will expect a return and a profit on the days they are guaranteed to have customers , at this moment to only guaranteed ' earners ' are the match days , everything else is just guess work

Whilst they may not be looking lose or break even on match days, that may be the reality for them based on our average attendances, and i'm pretty confident they will have costed this
Even so, i doubt even 30 guaranteed games a year is enough to generate a £13m, 10 year contract, and yet they were prepared to sign a deal for that price and timescale based on half the games. Unless of course they are confident in making the remaining days successful.

From Azure's perspective, its a banqueting and conference facility that for 15 days/evenings a year (so far) just happens to hold a sports event. As far as they are concerned, matchdays are just another event to cater for.
Guesswork it may be to you and i, but lets not forget they are the experts in this field and have stuck their necks out to the tune of £13m, you don't commit that kind of money in this time of austerity without something to back it up.

Why would you think that Wilkinson is going to sell up and sell up to a Union club after all these years?
