| Winds me up this forever reds malarky, I've said it before, those who run it should promote it more, hand flyers out at games, have a stall set up at home games to encourage people to join. The spot the gym people have would be idea if they had a stand there. Forever reds is a group of people on this website in a certain clique, I'm not a member but would be willing to join, if people at home games handed out flyers explaing what they do, you'd see an higher intake of members. Rant over.

| FR is not a group of people in a "certain" cliche, we are a small group of fans who have one thing in common the love of Salford, the stuff you suggest has been done, we have stood at the willows handing out flyers put stuff in the prohgramme and got mentions in the Salford Advertiser, we advertise our meetings and which players will be there and we don't charge non-members (you would think that they would join at the meeting). we are planning some stuff this year, but it will be the same old same old who will be there, we have the AGM coming up shortly which would be a great time to meet new members.
Watch this space.

If your not a FR member and never been to a meeting how do you know that they are a certain clique?
I am a FR member and I have different views on some things than Pev and other people and we are certainly no clique.
If you haven't seen or heard or read anything about FR at the matches, especially at the Willows or in the RL press or even on Radio Manchester then you must go to matches and live with a blindfold and ear muffs on.
FR are a very dedicated group of people whose sole aim is to help the Salford City Reds in any way that it can,ask Alan Hunte if FR is a clique or not ask the Physio their opinion or better still just watch for the next meeting and come down and see what goes on.
And you never know you may even volunteer to help out one day.

| It is nothing to do with people on here running the club down,If every post on this site was saying the opposite
It would still be the same,we new we were going to the new ground two years.most people on here thought we were
going to move,with a great big fanfare,In so much that we let a coach who was probably going at the end of the season
and Mr Simms to bring in eight new players,we now know last season was a disaster,and not a spring board to a new
start at a new stadium.I was at a meeting,Mr Simms telling people we wanted more away fans to come,so what do we
do, we play on Friday night,I have been to Hull lots of time,and would sooner go on Sunday.The people running the club
always thought build a new stadium,and people would come running,they now know the reality,we have got to have a
team,and now people want a winning team,the time to judge is at the end of the season,Warrington did not get fans
over night,only when they started fetching over top Australians and started winning matches,Bradford have not got
the team they had.So they have not got the same fans they once had.

Wooooah hold ya horses baby cakes!
1. I rarely comment on here, and it's obvious their is a clique, maybe if you don't see it, it's because your one of them....
2. When was the last time at the Willows there was forever reds people giving leaflets out? As I normally came in through the turnstyle from the club shop or the far corner near the ginnel. Only people who approached me were programme sellers and golden gamble sellers. Can't remember anyone on Rugbyleague phone in mentioning the forever reds, I didn't listen last Thursday so I could be wrong. Also Why dosen't anyone post stuff on Salford facebook page as people seem to talk on there also ask salfordonline to post and put of there website? So am afraid georgous I am keeping my eyes open and ear's peeled. Also since I been to new stadium no F/R presence, although on Friday I was made aware to check my testicals
Am not saying the people involved are no dedicated, when I say this I don't mean it disrespectfully, if your going to do something do it properly and not half hearted. I'm willing to donate so spare pennies for a good cause but as I'm not "dedicated" I wouldn't know what the money goes to oppose to lining peoples trips to Catalan
So if anyone wants 10 sheets of me I'll be at the London game and show me where to sign up!

That's one hell of an insinuation is that.
The number of people now involved is very low (I've only just re-joined myself and not helped out for a while...), resources are limited and every attempt in the past at getting new people involved has been met with apathy and, in some case, contempt. This is despite the club making it known quite publicly what cash raised in previous years has been spent on. If you feel you could add more to the Trust and help raise the profile further then you could always make a positive move to get involved.

| next meeting will be announced shortly, surely a bit of libel, (I wouldn't know what the money goes to oppose to lining peoples trips to Catalan) as it states ask Alan Hunte where the money goes, this season we are also running sponsor a try again, last season if you sponsored at try home and away a £100 quid would have been raised imagine if 1000 fans had just done that simple thing we could have raised £100,000, now that sort of money can change things at the club., currently for each £1 a try the total stands at £15 owed by each fan after only 4 games.

What kind of clique spends the best part of 9 years trying to get more people involved, invites [ueverybody[/u to meetings, and holds elections every year with an invitation every year for people to stand for the board (only for nobody to come forward)?
There's plenty of people I've met through Forever Reds who I'd never met or spoken to before seeing them at meetings - that's not exactly cliquey.
And for those asking, the next meeting is going to be a Monday towards the end of March - awaiting confirmation on the venue. The plan is to hold 7 fans meetings this year and we're looking at the possibility of moving around different venues around the city.

Forever Reds is incorporated as an Industrial and Provident Society and is Regulated under the Industrial and Provident Societies Act 1965 by the Financial Services Authority. Accounts are independently examined every year and presented to members at the AGM before being sent to the FSA, and anyone can access historic ones via companies house as you can with any company. The Trust can only spend money in line with the Objects laid out in the rules (if anyone wants a copy of the rules I'm happy to share them - PM me) as below:
Quote OBJECTS
2. The Society’s objects are, either itself or through a subsidiary company or society trading for the benefit of the community and acting under its control:
i. to strengthen the bonds between the Club and the community which it serves and to represent the interests of the community in the running of the Club;
ii. to benefit present and future members of the community served by the Club by promoting encouraging and furthering the game of rugby league as a recreational facility, sporting activity and focus for community involvement;
iii. to further the development of the game of rugby league nationally and internationally and the upholding of its rules;
iv. to encourage the Club to take proper account of the interests of its supporters and of the community it serves in its decisions;
v. to encourage and promote the principle of supporter representation on the board of any company owning or controlling the Club and ultimately to be the vehicle for democratic elections to the board;
vi. to promote, develop and respect the rights of members of the community served by the Club and people dealing with the Society as set out in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, having regard in particular to the need to provide information to members and conduct the affairs of the Society in accessible and appropriate ways;
vii. to provide a means of significantly supporting Salford RLFC via fund raising;
viii. to work for the sporting and financial success of the club, and to uphold and preserve the tradition and heritage of Salford RLFC. '"
That said, I will acknowledge that Forever Reds may not have had the most prominent presence of late - but it's the off season and most members tend to join up through meetings or the website - and as we've not had any meetings during the off season there's not really been anything to promote. When leaflets have been put out on table in the Tavern and Variety club in the past the take up has been very low to nil.

| The overall intention of Forever Reds is a good one. The intentions when it was formed were solely to help the club and there are still people involved with that intention. However, if people can't see that some use it to get themselves noticed, and help themselves raise their own profile within the club then they can't see the wood for the trees. Unfortunately, FR is nothing like it used to be and never will be. It also doesn't have to be. It needs a fresh approach and somebody with balls who isn't afraid to do the job of a supporters association and be there for the supporters. It needs somebody who doesn't pussyfoot around the club and the chairman and start speaking truthfully about where the issues are in raising the profile of the club. The hard part is that many at the club won't listen. It needs somebody with a spine. Someone who isn't scared of ruining their own reputation with the people at the club in order to say how it is.

| Just away from the Forever Reds bit for a while... as I could go to town on that one...
... and back to the crowd issue.
I live in the Irlam/Cadishead area... Everybody knows there is a stadium... Everybody has seen the stadium... But ask somebody when Salford play, and nobody in Irlam and Cadishead will be able to tell you apart from those who already go. When we played Hull on Friday... I spoke to people who had no idea. So... maybe if the club concentrated on promotion in the areas closer to the stadium, they may be able to attract a few people along. I've yet to see anything promoting a game in my area... and this is one area where it should be heavily promoted as everybody who lives in the area pretty much has to pass the stadium to get out of Irlam and Cadishead unless going to Warrington.

I keep wondering why there isn't a billboard on the A57 it'self to promote games, you have the large area of wasteland between the two entrances and surely a large billboard there would be ideal to promote future games as people are likely to be looking in the direction of the stadium in the first place.

| Here's a suggestion SwintonRed, how about you volunteer to spend the time before games handing out leaflets, being ignored etc. Being accused of theft ?
Clique? maybe but only in that people who attend meetings now know each other.
I haven't been to FR meetings for the last year or so for personal reasons, but I can assure you that being involved is time consuming (did a stint as treasurer) and a thankless task.
People like Iain attend meetings, spend their time trying to understand all the rules and regulations.
Any fund raiser is hard work and often poorly attended, this is after leaflets have been handed out.
New blood is always welcome and the academy welcomes the support.

I've sponsored the tries in the last two seasons but I must have missed seeing that it was running again this season (I can't easily attend meetings because I live in Warrington and don't have my own transport except a bicycle). Can someone ensure that my name is included this year (at £1 per try, home and away) and I will pay up in full at the end of the season. I would describe myself as a sleeping member of FR - they can have my money but not my time.

Some sort of banner or sign facing the Barton bridge would also make sense. I have spoken to quite a few who drive past on the m60 everyday and have no idea who plays in the stadium. Often having no idea who SCR actually exist and what game they play.
Also if they are closing the unreserved seating in the east stand, they need to make some available in the west, I know a couple of St holders that have wanted to bring friends to game but cannot sit next to them and that kinda puts new people off coming if they are sitting on their todd.

From what I have seen of the west stand there are large blocks that don't have anyone sitting in them. I'm sure that the ST holders could just move seat to sit with their friends.

| What an interesting article by Luke Patten - a non too veiled criticism of Matt Parrish, clearly there was much more going on behind the scenes that we fans were not aware of.
FWIW I prefer Friday nights as that then leaves the rest of the weekend free, but I do understand the points made by others, Sundays would be better for many families and many travelling supporters

...but accepts he doesn't know the ins & outs of how viable it is.
We'd all like to see a surge in crowds replace the need for corporate cash (or better still, add to it) but there's little evidence to suggest the switch alone will make a jot of difference to our crowds.
The switch, coupled with an improved matchday programme of events like those banded on here and Facebook (car park BBQ, funfair etc) strikes me as the way forward but it would be a costly gamble which we can ill afford to lose.

And for those asking, the next meeting is going to be a Monday towards the end of March - awaiting confirmation on the venue. The plan is to hold 7 fans meetings this year and we're looking at the possibility of moving around different venues around the city.'"
When you say City, I assume you mean Salford rather than Manchester? In which case, may I suggest a few venues?
Lamb Hotel (Eccles) 400 yards from my new flat!
The Hope - Everyone knows where it is! Handy for most Salford residents to get to (10 min walk from my flat!)
The Grey Mare - Handy for the Weaste/Langworthy mob. (& one stop on the tram for me!)
St Michael's/Grapes/Unicorn - Our new catchment area (& on the 67 bus route for me!)
Red Lion/Wellington - Covers the Height & Salford Precinct. (Did I mention it's a 10 min walk from my sister's? )
The Cock (Worsley) - Covers Worsley/Walkden/LH. Couple of nice barmaids last time I went in as well!
Irlam - Any of the social clubs on the main road would make sense.
May also be worth trying to tap into the Sale/Urmston/Partington/Stretford area as well so somewhere like The Wetherspoons in Sale might be an option?
