| I recall Platt doing well for us breaking through with Fitzpatrick into the 1st team under Harrison as a winger, Quite liked him and was surprised when they let him go , Went to Rochdale, to Cas then to Bradford and has developed into a pretty good attacking fullback , however is known for his trips to the disciplinary committee and for some classic howlers , can't see why we had pinpointed him to recruit when we have Patten written in obvious Fullback and possibly Ratchford who could understudy .
He is by rights an ex Salford Player , but I would not class him in the Judas mold as we let him go.

According to the Bulls thread he's still contracted to them next season. As they have already lost nero, I don't see them losing another centre.
I'm quickly losing interest and Smithy is starting to remind me of Mel Gibson in Conspiracy Theory!!!! You know he made loads of random statements and then BANG he actually got something right.

| Judas and the massive signing are two seperate people if you follow smithys criptic clues, following simmses tactics in this years transfer market both are still involved in the playoffs because we only announce signings when they are out of the playoffs, not being retained by their club OR the new signings are not vital cogs in the running of their team.
To my knowlege we havt been linked to anyone officallly or unofficially could mean 1 of 2 things
1) salfords offer to eather or both is astronical and if anything gets leaked the it gets pulled and the deal is off so its in the best interest for the player and their management team to keep quet about it, because the only way we the fans get the rumours in the 1st place is though the players agent hawking his client round the clubs and people talk.
2) The judas and the star still are under contract @ their current club but feel the strain of traveling to their current club and want to move back nearer to their home, years on contracts can be easily bought out when you have a unhappy player perhaps a deal between the clubs for a preseason friendly with the club selling taking all the gate rather than the usual 50/50 split plus a sweetener in the deal can be a deal maker.
So with that in mind, my guess judas will be under contract, he'll be a vital cog in his team, he'll play for somebody who he has to travel a distance too his usual "lift" will be leaving the club also (possibly retiring) so he'd have to find his own way there he wont want to unsettle anyone by announcing he wishes to leave, that will happen when his team leaves the playoff, when he does leave he'll probably say the traveling did my head in and thank his old club for the release.
The star will probably be a leader figure recon slightly older, he wont want to talk about his future in the press just about what his team will do / has done or he'll be currently injured and not doing any talking, everyone will just presume he'll just sign a rolling contract after the playoffs but he'll sign for us instead he'll be seen a statement of intent by us and may turn a few heads in the rugby league world.
With that in mind with my guesses for the two signings are Judas = Robinson star = Morley.
Smithy strikes me as somebody who will refer to morley as a local boy done good who is coming home to lead us to the new stadium rather than somebody who went away won stuff and is now wants to play for his hometown club before his body packs in.

| I like both of those suggestions. I'd not thought about Mozza to be honest, but he's now won the challenge cup twice and could possibly be tempted across to lead the team in the new stadium as a local lad.
Would probably only get a 1 year deal with Wolves - but I'm sure we'd offer him a 2 year, with an option to move into coaching.
If this did happen - I think I'd have to return home from Singapore permanently as we'd have a very competitive team indeed.

| Do you honestly think Warrington will allow their best forward, possibly the best forward in the league leave? I think not! He is contracted for next season anyway!!

Salary cap? They've brought in Brett Hodgson and he won't have come cheap.

Of course our coach's days are numbered: could be 30 or could be 3653!

That doesn't stack. Why would the club make 8 new signings influenced by the existing coach and then replace him before the start of the new season? If the coach was to be replaced then surely the club would have held off making any new signing announcements until the coach had gone.
I think with Smithy it's a case of make enough guesses and eventually you'll get one or two right!

Isnt it Simms who makes the signings though? I agree though, I think Mcrae will be our coach next season, I cant understand why Smithy has said that

No it's Simms role only to negotiate terms with the players and their agents, leaving McRae to concentrate on his coaching duties. The coach will always have to give his agreement to who the club approaches/signs.
I'd imagine Simms & McRae had a meeting with the directors weeks ago with a list of out of contract players. From this they would have selected their targets with a few back up targets should any of their main targets fall through.

How else he going to know whats what?
Strainge one with mcrae in the metro yesterday went with the head line "Happy ending for mcrae" and in the match report Mcrae "felt it was mission accomplished" that we finished 12
why would it be mission accomplished if you had 12 months left on your contract? for what its worth for the 1st time in his rein he has a complete team full of "his players" it looks like he's got his assistant coaches in place to coach and he can now sit in his ivory tower with all the stats and fact and make decitons rather than try and coach them.
