Not for me Higham will be 34 next year. We need more hungry young players, not players past their best to simply do a job for 12 months. We need players at the club with their best years in front of them that will grow with the team.

Anyone else brimming with excitement for the trip over to Cas next week? I cant wait to hear/see what the locals think of the whole Chase, Koukash, Sneyd, Clarke and Hauraki situation.

It's crossed my mind also how both Cas and Widnes will perform in 2015. Both teams have been fantastic this year showing real commitment but there is no guarantee it will continue into next year.

I remember 2006 when we finished 5th place, the team spirit was something else and our try line was almost impregnable at times. Players giving the high fives, back slapping and firing up the fans in the shed. We were the surprize package of the season but what happened a year later? Despite signing what seemed some good players we were relagated finishing last and a shadow of the team the year before. Let this be a warning to any Cas or Widnes supporter with a chip on their shoulders.

As regards Chase, I have no animosity whatsoever for him as he was total class for us and i'm sure he felt that he had gone to further his career with a better team, Ok that hasn't happened this year but no doubt will over the next few seasons.

Koukash will no doubt be the pantomime villan as he has been very outspoken about his love

for cas on social media. I fear that if he does get too much grief that this will further hinder our chances of getting Sneyd.

As i've said with Sneyd & Clark what will be will be.

Weller has really stood up for us this year but hasn't been outstanding as he comes up with quite a few un forced errors. That said I would have loved him to stay.

I have aling we will have to much strength in the forwards and with us being at home I expect us to win by 18. We have to make hay whilst the sun is still shining.

Clark is younger than Sneyd so presumably will be even cheaper when using the magic RFL formula.

I'd be tempted too see if Hull KR would part with Josh Hodgson, doubt a swap for Sneyd would be on the cards but a cash offer for a very good young British player couldn't hurt.

You're missing the point completely.

You're saying he's a has-been but he's playing well. Has-been's are players that were good but are now past it. Higham isn't past it yet.

Regardless of Higham playing well in your opinion this year, he is past his best so theoretically he is a has-been. As in, 'has been' better in the past. It's not a criticism, time catches up with every player.

There's nothing to be ashamed about having 'has been' players in your squad, we have several and all teams in Superleague have them. They all contribute, just not to the same level they could at their peak.

Theredshed's post just up there sums up what I mean. Remember, we're talking about Mickey in the context of a potential Salford signing, so that's not going to be until 2015 at the earliest. No matter what standard he's playing to, he's 33 now, 34 by the start of 2015 and age catches up with us all. He's never likely to see the inside of an international shirt again (although, to be fair, he's not seen the inside of many in the past either), and, I suspect, he won't be as effective next year or the year after. Ergo, if we were to sign him, we'd be signing a has-been.

Broadening it a bit, a signing like that is what you'd see (perhaps unfairly) as a typical Nobby signing. In fact, to some extent, a typical Salford signing. We've had probably more than our fair share of GB internationals playing for us over the years, but they all, pretty much to a man, played for us after their international careers were over. It's something we moved away from under Karl Harrison, but seemed to be creeping back towards under Nobby. It's one of the reasons why I disagree with the view that seems to pop up on the Warrington forum that Marwan was wrong to remove him.
