| Real nail biting stuff at Rossendale tonight where the scoreline could well have been 9 all ! Another great away victory although we had to fight all the way particularly after the dismissal of our full-back Darren Hockenhull which led to a Rossy penalty equaliser for 2-2 after 49 minutes after we had raced into a two goal lead after only 11 minutes. Thereafter we led
3-2, 4-3, 5-3 and finally 5-4. Totally exhausting stuff.
Next game at Harrogate Railway Athletic on Saturday as we attempt to keep our dreams of Unibond Football alive!

| not a chance mate, too many years of bully boy tactics has made salford a rubbish footballing team! I'm a local lad and dont get me wrong i'd like them to do well but players like massey and that moses lad have not helped! i played at trafford for 3 seasons until i did my knee in 2 years ago and look how they have done this season by trying to play football!

Great result at least the lads are still giving it a go despite the futility of it.

You think? I though 2 or 3 reasons back and for a couple of seasons we were a really good footballing side, (pre and during FCUM's time in NWC1) Burke, Ronbinson x2, Baguley etc and along with Curzon I though the Ammies played some really good football and at times over played thus never really achieving the ultimate aim at that time.
Quote ="Jaymc9"but players like massey and that moses lad have not helped! '"
I'd agree on Massey, Tunj had the ability but as you point out he didn't tend to use it enough. Last season and this I would tend to agree that we havent played the prettiest of football but before that, we played some nice stuff.

| Thought Salford played some decent stuff when we played them in a friendly in the summer.
Would I be right in thinking that Massey would be the infamous Barry Massey?

| i know them players well, good friends with matty burke, doing ok for himself now, captain of vauxhall motors. John robinson is pretty quick but is a bit head down and run with the ball, not good enough for unibond level. Same with Nick robinson, how he is now getting paid to play in melbourne now is beyond me! Baggers is a good player and will always do well if he is surrounded by half decent players. That forrestor is a good player, will probably get snapped up next season. I played with martin andrews at trafford, good player and never stops running!

Yeah Lathan's Ok but he's definatly a head down runner, but when he lifts his head boy can he do the business, he's a frustrating player though, too many time he's tries to take on a man to many or when he's done the man he go's back for another go and far, far too often the final product isn't there.

| One of the best performances of the season from FC last night, should've been more goals. How it was 0-0 at half time I don't know.
Still, no doubt we'll get a bad result at Hednesford on Saturday!

Can't believe the old bugger is still playing!!! I'm 31 and played at Salford with Baz when I was 17 and he must've been in his mid/late 20's then!!! He must be 40+. As to his footballing style (or lack of) I'd liken him to John Fashanu, he's got the sharpest elbows I've ever been on the receiving end of The phrase "old-fashioned centre forward" is an apt way to describe him.

Baz aka Yum-Yum is still playing although not with the Ammies. He's currently plying his trade with Runcorn Linnets in the North West Counties Premier Division along with ex Salford players Simon Myerscough, Kenny
Tudor and Steve Cunningham. A real character and a firm favourite during his time at Moor Lane.

You've obviously based your opinion on earlier season results and performances of which some I would agree were dire but have you actually seen any games since the arrival of the new management team of
Paul Wright and Neil Hall? We've ran all the top six sides very close recently as well as gaining much praise from opposing fans for the type of football we've played. The petulant actions of Jon Robinson are hopefully a distant memory as a raft of recent quality additions to the side have more than enhanced our reputation as a side that likes to play attractive passing
football which has been very much in evidence in recent 5-3 and 5-4 wins at Lancaster City and Rossendale United respectively. Now if only we could sort out our defence!

No i've not been this season. From recent results it does look like it is turning around, and i hope it does! I'd love for salford to hae a great footballing team as i am a local lad, me and my dad have been watching them on and off for the last 15 years or so. I was just commenting on the style of play that got them promoted etc would not work at this level. I hope the experience from this season will help them bounce straight back up next season.

As you can tell, I've not been down to Moor Lane since early this season (for my sins) so not quite up to speed on squad changes etc. There's just not enough time over a weekend to fit in Utd, SRLFC, Salford City & my U12's team I run!!! Think I'll have to change my avatar if I don't get to more games as people will just think I'm a glory-hunting armchair supporter
Fair play to Baz to still be going though. I remember him breaking his leg quite badly 10 or so years ago and he played with a limp for about 6 months IIRC . I think the fact that he's always kept himself in such good shape has helped his longevity.
Salford, for the size of it's city, should have a team playing at a higher level than the Unibond 1st. Without knowing too much about how the club is run, I can only guess that the club isn't run as well behinf the scenes as some of our local rivals (Mossley/Trafford etc). Having taken 30+ years to get into the Unibond it'll be a shame to see them drop out at the first time of asking.

| Saw Massey play for Runcorn at Atherton Colls last week and he was his usual 'character' - how that bloke doesn't get 15 red cards a season, I'll never know
Was always entertaining on the odd occasions that I saw him play for Colls a couple of years back though. Certainly made his way around the local circuit, anyroad!

And glorious it was too. It silenced the local inbreds at the other end of the ground who'd spent most of the game singing a mixture of Soccer AM chants and YNWA. They looked a little gutted to say the least.

All sounds a bit nawty
No game for us this weekend so I think I'm going to Chorley-Rossendale (taking price of the half price for season ticket holders at virtually every club in the north west offer!) before Cammell Laird visit the LSV on Tuesday night.
