| Let me take people back, when a new ground was first proposed back in 1998 we were going to finance it with a massive casino. Then before we could get planning permission a lot of other sports clubs jumped on this bandwagon and them the Gov held a bidding process and we were other looked, not the clubs fault. Next we decided to fund it with retail space, the Gov then decides that you can not build out of city shopping centres, so that goes west, then came the Hotel, but the recession then kicks in so that idea disappears again not Salfords fault, then finally we get a new partner the college which needs to amalgamate and is told the LSC funding is in place, then out of the blue the LSC over stretches itself and the rug is pulled again. How unlucky can a club get, hopefully this luck will change shortly.
Wakefield are also in partnership with a college which has not got LSC funding yet.

Nail on the head. Still, I think some people are looking for an excuse to pack in going.

| It’s Sod’s law that we seem to be in coin flipping territory now. It’s pretty dark stuff over the hill; but what worries me more than anything here is that if the truly worse case scenario happened — Salford needing to be run entirely by a supporters trust — there wouldn’t be the support nor enough people with the cojones to step forward and lay them on the line.

| yes we all want this stadium to be built and we all see it as the way the club will be moved forward i am just as ed as the next man
if your attitude is if we dont get this stadium/franchise i will not go to a salford game again, I WOULD RATHER YOU PACK IN NOW, i would rather have fans Loyal, Faithful Fans following us home and away than some one who can just pack it in if something doesnt quite go our way
SALFORD RLFC IS IN MY BLOOD AND IT WILL NEVER BE DIFFERENT
i couldnt pack it in just like that!
=redI'LL SUPPORT YOU EVERMORE

| The thing I find amazing (if true) is a bunch of residents over the other side of the city get told what will or won't be, and are only interested in the traffic lights etc , whilst this is breaking news to the SRLFC fan who are treated like mushrooms by the club. (I do however apologise if this is common knowledge, but I somehow doubt it)..
Very Upsetting..

Fair point. Swinton's supporters trust has more members than ours

| Heres an idea.
What about the money spent on bringing the philharmonic orchestra to Salford, or the money wasted on tin pot schemes to re-generate Chapel street, the money wasted on turning everything Magenta...
The list goes on and on.
I know the money comes from a different source for the College, but surely Salford City Council should be helping out here.
We are the Citys only sporting Club and as such they should be directing money to help out.
BTW You never give upon your club.

| If i remember rightly the club were supposed to have had everything inplace and the stadium no matter what was happening. firstly now we are all wait for a college to get funding where is peel holdings. Also the date gets put back every week and i heard the other day they were trying to lease the willows gorund after 2011. I have supported this club for years and just getting fed up with the club saying this will happen then it aint. I have said that this stadium would not happen if they were as confident that it was going ahead why no announcement on start date. we need it for 2011 so work needs to start soon. Again the fans dont get to find out yet they expect us to poor are money into a club going nowhere loosing players and no stadium so someone tell me where you see stadium being built then prove it is happening because there is no proof. even john wilkinson does not sound convinceing at the residents meeting.

| It seems we are in the lap of the gods again, everytime somthing good is about to happen to Salford city reds a major disaster happens be it war or Ecernomic melt down. It is quiet literally us against the world imo.
Think the club didnt make an announcement because it would cause mass panic if it was made official, come the 27th July and we get the final result then im sure they'll say somthing.
Eather way ill still go, but if this dream dies a bit of me inside will too

| Dangerous times for the Club.
We need a new stadium, be it all singing and dancing or something scaled down. Having no plan B makes me slightly worried. I really fear for our beloved Club as it stands and don't even want to contemplate what will happen if the Stadium doesn't happen in some form or another.
Nervy days...

| Has anyone mentioned we're in the longest Recession since WWII?
If it gets built Hey Ho!
If it doesn't and we become the next Bramley - Swinton, I'll carry on supporting whoever runs out wearing the Famous Red Shirt be it new stadium, the Willows or Oakwood Park Playing Fields.
The Home Office are looking for ways to spend all their assett recovery. Maybe a City of Salford Stadium & College partly funded by the proceeds of crime
the 1/2 Million handed back by Westminster MP's would also help

Wish the Home Office would look our way, what better way than to put some ill gotten gains into sport that could be used to put youngsters on the straight road & keep them there.

| Can't believe we are still discussing this as Salford should have it's own community stadium end of, other local large cities have already got theirs, why the hell are we the last and still trying to get funding !!!!!
The city has a proud sporting history and the young people of Salford need something to aspire to !!!!!
I know it's not an easy process but hopefully you see where I am coming from ?
Why and how have other cities like Widnes, Warrington, Wigan, Leigh etc.. got theirs, have we not learnt anything from the processes they went through or is it purly a funding issue and if so WHY is Salford struggling maybe we haven't marketed the stadium as a community stadium enough I dont know ???????
I'm not having a go at anyone the club, the council etc etc.. I just can't help thinking WHY is our great city still waiting ?????

Do you remember rightly - I'm not so sure - a business plan was put forward, planning permission was granted, but clearly full funding was never in place at that moment - how could it have been ? You wouldn't go out and raise the cash then risk not getting the planning through - no-one would do that.
Then the world changed - you might have spotted that in the press - the banks had no funds any more to lend, the building industry ran out of working capital many many businesses started to suffer - clearly Salford City Reds being just one of them.
The fatal flaw in the plans [iMAY[/i have been the link to Peel Holdings - way way back at the start of all this I do remember posting my doubts about the motives of that organisation - and I speak as a long time member of Lancashire Aero Club and know just how any organisation can be screwed by such a "friend" - If you supp with the devil use a long spoon"
