| Am I still asleep?
Is what I've just watched the most brilliant dream?
I said the other day I was waiting to get properly excited but I think that wait is over.
Such a positive vibe given off by the whole press conference and think it's pretty obvious that he isn't there to keep Salford ticking over or going to allow us not to progress. You can also tell he has a very acute notion of what he wants from his investment and that he sees the investment as a long term one that will put the club on the map.
The fact the he will keep JW on as President might not sit right with some on here but I think that is a wonderful gesture and thoroughly deserved.
His comments about on site facilities such as a gym and the housing for the academy players are very encouraging as you see with the great sides a mixture of imports and a thriving youth system seems to be the winning formula.
I hope this does all get sorted over the weekend and that the issue with season tickets and the playing shirt gets sorted and that we can sit back and see who these players we have spoken to really are.

| Just seen Vauxhall quoted as saying he can spend up to the full salary cap.
Hope he gets Nectar card points as that's one hell of a shopping spree.
I'd hope for a marque fanfare signing and possibly buying a couple of older wise heads as on field leaders
Exciting times ahead

| Radio Manchester has been running clips of an interview with him on their sports bulletins this morning. Some extra bits:
* He's not in it for the money. In fact, it will cost him money. He wants trophies.
* The immediate priority is to assemble as good a squad as they can for this season. To that effect, PV has a list of [ifourteen[/i players he's interested in.
* A major aim is to assemble a competitive squad for 2014.
They also played a clip from an interview with PV. He said he'll now be able to assemble a decent squad.

| I dont want to dampen anyone's flames here but how many "marquee" signings are there in RL these days?
SL - Sam Tomkins, Kevin Sinfield
NRL - Billy Slater, Ben Barba, any other of the kangaroo backs to be fair, Benji Marshall
Union - that NZ fella I can't remember the name of, number 10 I think.
And how many of them are a) available and b) willing to come to Salford within 2 weeks of the start of a season.?
I'm not hugely bothered about big name signings, just some big forwards would start the job, if any are available that is at such short notice.

| Marquee signing is not necessary the same thing as top five elite in the game. Solid and better quality than we're used to would be marquee for me. Big mobile pack would be a start.

I would think [iany[/i 'elite' player and, particularly, any current international could be considered a marquee signing. Would you not consider (and these are just names plucked out of thin air) James Roby or James Graham marquee signings?
As regards whether they would want to come to Salford, it's all about what you can offer them and how you advertise the club to them. Do you think that when Andrew Johns started out, uppermost in his mind was the prospect of one day playing a couple of games for Warrington?

What he said. Caught the first 2 minutes of the interview before Wi-Fi cut out at work and was almost in tears. A competitive team is what I want to see, playing in "our" ground. It seems like the Dr doesn't want to just throw millions building a squad of superstars but wants to build a team that contains a blend of local grown players with a few big names thrown in. The likes of Theo, Evalds & Ford would benefit greatly from a decent pack to work behind (as would Broughton etc) and this needs to be a priority.
I'm really pleased about the way he speaks about Wilky too. I don't deny he's made his mistakes but he's Salford through and through and deserves some recognition for his commitment in keeping the club afloat for all these years. I just hope the new premier+ season tickets contains a day out at Haydock/Chester to watch his horses as part of the package!
Please god let this be the one!

| There's also the option for you guys to try to grab some fringe NRL islanders that have massive potential. With the World Cup coming up, you'd think it would be a decent incentive to crack first grade over here and maybe make the World Cup squads and showcase themselves that way? Some of these guys have the potential to be absolutely sensational, though obviously they'd be more risky that signing tested players over here - plus the NRL clubs will probably be reluctant to lose them without thinking they could get them back.
There are some excellent prospects from Fiji sitting in the fringes of the NRL, Semi Radradra and Erevonu Kamikamica (400m sprinter who plays in the forwards!) at Parra, Etonia Nabuli at Penrith who was spotted randomly by Johns iirc as a physical freak (they love that word over there ).
Then of course PNG is always an underestimated hotbed, look at the way they held some of the top Aussies in the PMXIII game this year.

| My expectations for the team this year are fairly conservative. I expect positive changes and a restructure with an emphasis on raising people's perceptions of the club and trying to develop a positive mental attitude within it. It’s going to take some time and I feel it’s important that the club progress in these areas before they bring in higher calibre signings. Salford need players coming to the club because they believe they can develop and win trophey's, not just for the money.
I say this because I think we have all witnessed first hand how the likes of Patten found the transition difficult after being with big NRL club and then coming to Salford. Personally I think the job starts with investment in better foundations such as better training facilities/equipment and a bigger more specialised team of backroom staff.

| Terrific interview.Particularly impressed with the '....stuck with us..'
part of it.
Hope he gets the stadium. Was hugely aggravated by the illegal use of metal road signs manufactured for the Stadium Company to obstruct the highway with the ridiculous slogan - Residents Parking Only - in what appears to be an exclusion area a great distance from the stadium and a deliberate attempt to persuade spectators from attending the game.
I'll see what happens over the next few games before taking the trouble to report the matter to police and follow on from there.
Great to witness switched-on guys grasp the nettle and have some vision.
Note to self : While Mr Koukash rates Mr Wood NEVER criticise the RFL again !

Erm, residents parking only signs are not illegal and parking restrictions are often part of planning terms and conditions. Especially in areas where resident parking is limited. FC United will have similar restrictions in place in the streets surrounding their new ground in Moston (if and when it gets the final nod).

| In fact, just to further the point (and as we like links so much) a look at the planning document will show you that parking exclusion zones are part of said application. I've not found the Travel Plan yet, but then again I've not searched too far. The last page of this doc does show the exclusion zone marked for the planning app. [url=http://www.docstoc.com/docs/47145894/Planning-Application-Salford-Reds--FaceliftsLINK[/url

Many thanks for taking the time to reply and to show me of the link and the other information.
I no longer drive,as of a few months ago,but if I paid tax and had my car insured the restriction on me of parking my vehicle on a publicly maintained highway at certain times would and does infuriate me.( I am aware of the parking permits obtained by affluent people in certain parts of London [url=http://www.rbkc.gov.uk/environmentandtransport/parking/residentparking/typesofpermit.aspxHere[/url but don't think the same applies in Eccles/Peel Green/Barton
I 'll check with the law enforcement agency and leave myself in no doubt.
Thanks again.( This may have been the something new I putatively learn every day )

There were also parking restrictions on certain streets around the Willows. Gore Avenue and Gore Crescent certainly had restrictions.
As for the parking permits, they are not exclusive to London. I know many streets around me in Preston are permit parking only due to the lack of available space.

Bovrick - Work permit dependent, the positive side of the stripping of our squad last season / close season, is we have a clean slate to get some Quota or Non Federation players.
I would surmise given the NZ involvement in Chalmers & Graham Lowe, their links to players would be to Pacific Islanders / NZ. rather than the Sydney NRL Comp.
I would anticipate mix of
3 overseas - 1 year option ( to keep options open for RLWC- 2014 deals )
3-4 or season loan deals
3-4 GB based UK Resident experienced signings to beef out the squad 1-2 year deals
emphasis on the beef up front and in the backline .

| It's hard for us Salford fans to get carried away - too little to cheer, too many hopeless false dawns.
But when we come good - and after what I've witnessed over the last 24 hours, we will - we couple of thousand who remained faithful to the club, will be able to hold our heads high and say 'we were there all along'.
How sweet that success will taste...

| I'd hope that a great many of constant doom and gloomers don't come to games.
These sort of thickle fans are not what the club needs, I see one of them in a very short space of time turning on the coaches when were not top of the league and battering everyone in site.
