| I agree with jalfrezi I noticed early doors everything has to go through holdsworth so if that goes wrong we r screwed.that daft move where holds worth takes it first man then gives it to patten on inside is a laugh if doesn't work 1 or twice don't keep doing it.broughton scored 4 tries last week but we persisted in going down the right for most of the night.very disappointed

| What makes it worse is how average Crusaders were tonight, as well as us. Usually we make them look like world beaters but we should have been ahead in the first half and only have ourselves to blame for not taking 2 points.

| We were poor tonight against an equally poor Crusaders team. If the performance wasn't bad enough we then had to endure that from Wire with his drum!!! I'm just gutted that we seemed to have turned the corner then just took two massive backward steps.
The first half was dire but we got ourselves into a winning position after the break but still managed to fook it up. So deflated that only the Strongbow can ease the pain!

You're not the first team to have a hangup with a particular opposition. Warrington's with us lasted 10 years!
I'm sure you'll bounce back next week.

| Got what we deserved...bugger all. Are we some kind of charity project for Welsh RL. Crusaders again deserved to win. Perhaps we have fell for the hype of the last two weeks and turned up expecting to win. Wake up call guys..you have to respect every team you play. Lazy defence, poor use of posession and a lack of leadership proved costly tonight. Thought Wild had a good game tonight though.

| How is it we just turn up to some games & don't bother tackling - time & again we seemed to have two tacklers, both going high, not stopping the man and then letting them offload?
I have great admiration for Dan Holdsworth's skills as a player, but he's no captain - for me, the organiser on the field who should be captain is Matty Smith.
Can't agree with earlier post re Cashmere, I thought his first spell in the first half was pedestrian
No imigaination, no cutting edge tonight - soething like 30 tackles oin their half with one player sin binned and we still can't score - POOR
All in all - what a disappointment tonight

| Not exactly a big draw for the paying spectators either .
Watched most of it on Sky , and the Crusaders were the better of the two teams.

Can't see Salford paying out the rest of Basil's contract and as a result having to pay off McRae, can you?
As for the game tonight, I thought Salford had more than enough ball to win it, despite the below-par performance. The amount of times that you had an overlap down your left wing but instead insisted on going right from dummy half was criminal. After some of Ratchford's performances in recent weeks I felt sorry for the lad being marooned at centre, and his inexperience in that situation was shown when he threw an early ball to Broughton when attacking two-on-one instead of drawing the man and putting Broughton in at the corner.
Cashmere had a decent game but Sammut had a touch of class that you couldn't see coming from Salford, and Crusaders' number 11 (Hep Cahill?) worked his nads off all night.

| Well you might be wrong on two counts there - think Basil would have the good sense to have a clause put in his contract `that if a Super league club etc ...........` & the other thing is that Mr McRae may become the highest paid gardener since Charlie Dimmock. Dont forget also that Wilkie is now a Doctor as well so he may be able to sign Shaun off for another couple of months.

| The whisper is that Basil is more likely to be heading for Widnes anyway. Theoretically a bigger chequebook thanks to O'Connor. If he was going to go to Salford then I'd have thought it would have happened when McRae was on the ropes last season.

| No urgency. No enthusiasm and no inventiveness in attack. I couldn't agree more. The hard work was there in defense and but when something isn't working as always we persit on doing it time after time. We lack good "decision" makers, with regards to applying pressure, offloads, wing play and kicking. DJ is relied upon too much. Adamson put in a MOM performance. And was has turned a corner going forward. Better yardage. Freaky fitness level and kept Thomas under wraps all night. A few try saving tackles and was unlucky not to get over in the second half.
Any good backroom staff would have built on our last 2 performances. No wonder we've not put 3 wins together for 5 years.
Boyle is a breath of fresh air too and is miles ahead of Jewitt in terms of tackle busts. Boyle always seems to hit a good line. The efforts there from Jewitt but compared when he's trying to hit the line like Cashmere he's getting pushed back and turned over.
Im not giving up by anymeans. If Harlequins beat Bradford and Warrington beat Catalans tommorrow we'll still sit in 9th. And we bring Cas back down to earth were still contenders for a mid season spot in 8th.
I think the lads will be more determined than disheartend from tonights performance and it will G them up for next week. It wasn't a thrashing and we've seen a definate improvement since round 1. Onwards and upwards I Say.

I think people expected us to get on a roll. And we didn't get battered tonight. We got ground down by a team who had lost there last 6 and determined to win. We've played them at the wrong time again. Round 1 they had a point to prove. And now tonight they were determined not to lose there 7th on the bounce.

| Beaten by basic rugby. Forwards couldn't get on top and our 'flair' players failed to make a break all night. The kicking game was awful.
The Crusaders were there for the taking and we simply couldn't come up with another quality performance. We could win at Cas next week or concede 50. The joy of being a Reds supporter!

| Doubt Chan will have a better game again this season than he did last night.
I doubt very much that Sammut will stay for long as he does look a classy player even if he does look a tool with his Sean Longesque hair.
Think Anderson showed a couple of glimpses of what awaits and think Adamson has been told it's time he started making yards going forward rather than just tackling.
One very pleaseing aspect for me was the depth of the passing, the shallow flat ball we have been used to over the past few seasons has made most balls hospital passes but last night we seemed to make more room for ourselves.
All in all not the best performance but on another night a couple would have stuck early on and we'd have battered a team that seemed to feed on the fact that we didn't breach them.

| A definite off day, from both sides which makes it worse - had they played well I wouldn't have minded so much?!
I did predict we'd lose and wasn't surprised that we did, just the manner of the defeat that worried me.
However we don't have a good/big/old enough squad to ensure any kind of consistency just yet so, as long as we look better next week, we should just put it down to experience and move on.
The coaches/players shouldn't let last night change their plans for the improved style of football which we've played over recent weeks.

| Crusaders were terrible and somehow we were worse. The worst game I think I've ever seen.
The more I think about it the worse it becomes. They weren't just there for the taking, they were there to get demolished but we played the whole game a such a pedestrian pace it was untrue. No offloads, no support, no spreading the ball, no line speed, no depth, no creativity, just nothing. If we played like we have been doing then that could have been a 30+ win.
I really really really hope its just a glitch, but no matter what, its going to take some turn around to even start to compete with Castleford on that showing.
Holdsworth has got the potential to be a very good player, but he needs to start doing something different and run with the ball. Its one of three things every time- inside ball, behind to Patten or short to somebody like Adamson (who I thought actually played pretty well). I'm not for one second blaming Holdsworth for us losing, but he is our captain and we insist on virtually everything coming through him and its just not good enough atm.
I thought Godwin, Adamson played well as did Gleeson (although according to the website he is being assessed on an ankle injury), Cashmere and Ratchford in patches. Anderson tried hard but made two stupid errors, but hopefully he can pick it up next week, we need him to. Ganson didn't exactly help the game and how Gareth Thomas' try was given I will never know.
Hopefully it is just a case of Crusaders being our bogey team and next week we will be playing to our potential. Time will tell.

See, now if the club had reduced the cost of entry to £10 like you've been harping on about you'd have been about £60 light of pocket.
The club not doing so has saved you a big wad of money
