| he's available next week.... not worried are ya
I've never been a fan of Noble since he packed in with GB - his methods seem a little outdated these days. I think it's early days still and success doesn't just happen, you might need to wait 2/3 years before you see any real progression.
Hearing things from Clarke like "Salford will win the league" just doesn't help IMO. It delludes any casual fans and puts the team under pressure from the get-go.
I'm sure you Saflord fans realise that top 8 is the aim this year, and it's about gradually improving from then on

It ain't the fault of the coach and it ain't the fault of the players.
Its the fault of not having a youth structure like the big established clubs have.
This youth depth didn't come over night. ..its took years of scouting and nurturing.
Salford haven't a chance of reaching heights like that until a youth structure matures and that will take 3 seasons at the minimum and realistically 5 seasons or more.
Salford are already playing loaners....that's all the evidence you need to see that the depth of youth structure isn't there.
Warrington was always going to beat Salford, all that was needed was to look at the injury casualties and then look at the strength of the bench.
To keep the scores under 20 point spread was a good result IMO.
Warrington to 40 years to get back up to the heights of supremacy.
I have real surprise the expectations of Salford doing it in 4 games!?'"
I don't buy that, our academy have been right up there in recent years with several youth internationals. Furthermore in the past when the decent youngsters break through the vultures have just come along and taken them.
To say recent results has nothing to do the coaches or players and to pin all the blame on the youth policy is absolutely ridiculous. And what about Marc Sneyd? We bring through a great young player and we loan him to Cas!! And let's not forget Jon Ford our England International academy centre on loan at Sheffield. And what about Evalds? Played 2 games last year and scored tries and we haven't played him since.

Hasn't been around the club long enough to get on the end of our signature move (half back crabs along the field and then pops the ball back inside to a fairly stationary forward who then trundles straight into a gang tackle), but on the limited opportunities he had, he did really well. Two tries from, what, five? carries and a couple of useful tackles.

As history proves a good bunch of kids often come in waves. Two years ago we were beating most bigger clubs comfortably.

| It looked, for all the world, as if Shaun McRae was back in charge last night. Five drives and a kick - usually a poor one.
Things can only get better - can't they?

I think you have missed a rather major event where we went into financial meltdown with the academy side broken up and then demoted by the RFL to the 2nd tier. The ones that remain either rarely feature or have inexplicably been loaned out because now we've got money it seems we must be seen to go after any big name that becomes available, regardless of how many players we already have in their position.

| If we have spent the salary cap on this lot, someone wants sacking. It must be costing a fortune on bandages. Tasi is no better than Lee Jewitt, and sau is no better than Gibson. And the two we got from Saints are past it, we will be lucky to finish in the top eight at this rate.

| Tasi haha did you ever see him play for the Roosters or Brisbane, its difficult to make yards when no one else wants the ball.
I agree with Sau though.

So much for sane comment...
Why do these types always appear when the team is at a low ebb? They never appear to congratulate or compliment when things are going right.
I'm not adverse to discussing the negatives at the moment, but it has to be done with some rationality and not come across as a ranting lunatic.

| Noble was awful at Wigan. Couldn't believe he landed the job at Salford. I remember Wigan sneaking a win over Barrow in the cup. The played expansive rugby while Wigan looked clueless...and it took an injury to Smith before Tomkins got the chance he deserved. He has a mouth full of metaphors, but Noble is not the man to take SALFORD to glory.

| Have to disagree about S'au, in the second half yesterday when lots of the players were hiding he looked eager to take the ball in. Think anyone with a modicum of sense knows he's a bit underdone mainly because of the disrupted pre season with his partner so heavily pregnant but also the couple of injuries he's had in the game thus far.
Still think he will become a bit of a Salford legend as he seems like a genuine no nonsense player of the type we've been missing.

Can I sign you up for the full VIP I love MR package? you get a spiffing badge and my likeness on a t shirt
I think if the entire team showed the eagerness of S'au and Tasi we would be much more competitive, I wonder if some are coasting? Can say if the Doc thinks they are then he'll have them up the road quicker than you can get out of the car park after the game.

| rubber duckie is trolling you all with that argument about youth system, the same way that we got trolled when we first started to look like we had money. Fans from Saints, Wigan and so on told us we would never win trophies till we started bringing through youth.
Fortunately we brought through guys like Ratchford, Atkins, Myler, Hodgson and the Monaghans through from our Academy and three Challenge Cups followed.

Mullaney is kicking at around 68/69%, which is average to below average. Sneyd is at 95/96%, which is excellent — very high for Union standards. Compare that with the likes of say El Masri, Sinfield etc. (85%+), and Watkins (75%ish in his record breaking year), that's some going albeit early days.

Chris Hill is also another cracking product of the Warrington youth system.

That's the spirit JGR, I can't believe that Sally caught The Duck but then again...
Regarding the game, I was generally disappointed with both teams. We were no great shakes but could have been four scores up in the first 15 minutes despite our attacking options and patterns being so predictable.
I know that you are missing Chase and Hock amongst others, so your Plan A would obviously be disrupted, but, we are a team also looking for form and didn't have our first 17 out so thought you might have had a real go. It took Morley 'messing about' around the 70 minute mark to stir things up way too late by then.
All in all a bit of a non event although I'm happy for the coldest 2 points
Good Luck
