Are we saying that Hock intentionally ran at the ref on purpose?

| It was interesting to see it again on super league full time. Looked a bit dubious on Hock's part to be honest.

| Must be serious to be stating a 4-8 match ban. Didnt the linesman come on the pitch after the incident and have a word with the ref about what had happened. If it was that serious and obvious then a red card would have been issued.
8 match ban, rested and back for the play offs!

| It looks terrible but there'd been nothing in the game with the ref so I can't believe it was deliberate.
Suspect he'd switched off after not receiving the ball.

| The first time he did it there was nothing in it. He scored a perfectly good try which the ref disallowed. As the ref walked away he merely touched him on the shoulder to get his attention.
He shouldn't have have done it but it was just a hand on the shoulder.

| Doesn't look good. Not sure why you'd dip your shoulder and drive through after hitting contact. I'd expect him to miss four games minimum. No doubt our more hysterical fans will claim it's part of an anti-Salford conspiracy.
Hopefully he'll get off with it because we need all hands on deck for the run in.

| I don't understand why the referee didn't send him off then and there if it is deliberate. It's not like he missed the incident and rather than relying on one camera angle up in the gantry, he's best placed to judge whether it was potentially deliberate or not considering it happened to him!

Seems odd. Maybe he bottled it from issuing the first red card in rugby league history for a foul on the ref or couldn't be sure it was deliberate at the time?

| On Saturday we just laughed when he knocked the referee over. At the time we were sure it was a complete accident.

| I think these trumped up charges are obviously part of a concerted effort and conspiracy by the RL authorities to get at Dr Koukash in the hope of driving him out of of the game and out of their faces. Wonder what they'll think of next to irritate him with?

| It doesn't look good on SL full time, he seems to swerve into him and follow thru with the shoulder, there looked to be time to pull out. Can see it being a long one with his previous as well.

Sorry I meant he ran intentionally at the ref to knock him over?.
I don't know the rules concerned but does a player (even a senseless thug and Neanderthal like Hock) have to try and avoid a ref when moving. even if it risks him not scoring or missing a crucial tackle? Surely it should be the referees responsibility too read the game sufficiently as to avoid such a collision?

| A Widnes fan on vt said there was nothing in it when he got his last 5 match ban , even the ref as in this case laughed it off and said it was accidental , its an independent panel that has called the incident up

| I think the Doc had better get his cheque book out as I can see him going mental if Hock gets banned.
Conspiracy theory after last weeks marquee vote/non vote anyone.

| The part of this I find odd is the fact that all away fans are the first to have a go at Hock for any wrong doing yet there wasn't any booing from them when the incident happened. Let's face it they had the best view in the ground. I've read all the Hull threads on the match and not once was this mentioned by anyone.
Also as mentioned earlier in the thread why was no action taken at the time, as let's face it the referee had the birds eye view?

| That's the most bizzare thing about it all, at the time nobody seen anything in it. The ref didn't even have a word with Hock about it. I defended him straight away after seeing the charges but you can't deny on the replay it looks pretty bad. Definite ban coming up I'm afraid. A massive blow for the run up and especially KR away with Tasi also suspended.

| Crazy incident. I don't think for one minute he's deliberately thought about hitting the ref, one second he's in for a try the next he's smashing into the referee. It all happens too quickly to be premeditated. Bizarre how seems to dip the shoulder in though as if this would be better than clattering front on?
Very odd.

| Case Number ON/121/12
Name Ryan Bailey
Club Leeds
Shirt Number 16
Match Leeds v Warrington
Competition Super League
Date 09/03/12
Incident considered Deliberate physical contact with a match official in 36th minute
Decision Charge
Details of Charge / Reason for NF Rule: 15.1(i) Detail: Deliberate physical contact with a match official Grade: C MRP - Referred to tribunal
Range of Recommended Sanctions in relation to Charged Grade* 2-3 matches
Date of Disciplinary Committee 13/03/12
Evidence provided DVD and letter from match official.
Decision On Charge
Player plea Guilty
Summary of CM's submissions on the Charge / evidence The Panel reviewed an incident which occurred in approximately the 36th minute of the Match. In the Panel’s opinion you made deliberate physical contact with the referee. The Panel believed that this behaviour was serious misconduct, unnecessary and against the spirit of the game. In accordance with the RFL’s On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the Panel consider that such offence is a Grade C offence (Deliberate physical contact with a match official). If found to have committed the offence, again in accordance with the On Field Sentencing Guidelines, the normal suspension range for such offence is from 2 match suspension to a 3 match suspension. In addition the Tribunal has the power to impose such fine as it considers reasonable.
Summary of Player's submissions on the Charge / evidence Player admitts guilt.
Decision Guilty plea.
Reasons for Decision
Decision On Sanction (where found to have committed Misconduct)
Summary of CM's submissions on the appropriate sanction No further submissions.
Summary of Player's submissions on the appropriate sanction Mr McDermott believes Mr Bailey is guilty of the offence. Mr McDermott does feel that the match official’s postioning was poor, however Mr Bailey should have realised that the match official was not a decoy runner. In addition he should have taken a more appropriate course of action in attempting to move around him.
Aggravating Factors
Mitigating Factors Guilty plea.
Reasons for Decision The panel believe that Mr Bailey should have dealt with the situation in a different way. There was a deliberate push on the referee and continued petulance showed towards the referee after the try was scored. The panel will not tolerate any aggression showed towards a match official. The panel have taken into account the plea of guilt but cannot overlook the seriousness of this incident. It is therefore the opinion of the committee that a 3 match suspension and a £300 fine is in order.
Suspension 3 matches
Fine £300
Warning

| Just watched Saturdays highlights again and something that struck me on the day that I've just seen again is that there was nothing made of the tackle on Sa'u. I'm pretty sure that the Hull player was guilty of nothing more than a lazy tackle but the Ref said nothing at all, too then have Hock up before the beak for an offence in the same game is a bit of an insult to the players if you ask me.

| Let's be honest the guy has got previous, in this incident he has a lot of time to move out the way and he drops his shoulder last second. Before i seen the incident i though it was a farce, but after seeing it last night on super league full time i can't think of anything but stupidity! Cracking player but a damn liability. Let's just hope he gets away with a 4 game ban and comes back and gets us a top8 place!
