Jools, I don't want to get into a massive debate here but any sort of sexual assault is wrong and cannot be condoned. I don't know the in's and out's of the Johnson case but I believe he was punished and has a right to move on with his life. I have no idea about the rape allegation but I understand on occasion the victim does not wish to undergo the court process - I don't think that equates with a 'nonsense allegation'.

I think he has a moral backbone but in drink had a nanosecond of madness.

I think he should be left alone.

I don't suppose anyone has compiled any figures,but it does seem disproportionate that over the years whenever rugby league players appear in court they are sentenced to terms of imprisonment when that is definitely not the case for others throughout society generally.

You do realise that you are doing the same thing for Murphy in this thread. The only thing anyone wants to debate was whether a RL player deliberately harmed another RL player. Most have said that it looked deliberate, others have said they didn't see. Only you are saying that he couldn't possibly have done it. Dragging in either players personality or history does nothing for the argument. It literally makes no difference in this case.

Did player A get his jaw broken by player B? Was it deliberate? That's all there is to debate on the subject.

The judgement on the breaking of the jaw will be tough as Johnson had 2 lots of treatment prior to leaving the pitch. Should have left the field the 2nd time and been checked thoroughly.
Instead 2 Salford 'medics' kept the player kneeling on the touch line deliberately holding the game up. refusing the leave the field.

When Chase smashed Ropati's jaw he got 3 matches. Even if Murphy did something it doesn't come close to the Ropati hit.

As most people know I'm no fan of the player concerned but his past has no relevance to this topic.

I'd personally not be happy to see any player on a rugby field get injured regardless of his history.
