| Say what you like about noble but in the cold light of day we spent a shed load of money - take a look at the table 167 points conceded with a -53 difference, he isn't good enough. If we continued in this form for much longer then we would miss play offs IMO. Noble was the wrong choice all along for me, Marwan isn't short of a bob or two so if you are spending that kind of money on the squad - not to mention what he was willing to throw at Tomkins and SBW, then why not get a quality young coach with a decent record to avoid this?

| One thing has just struck me and that's Harris and Noble are apparently good friends away from the game so if working with the Doc is an issue I'm pretty certain Harris will already know about it. What I do find as odd is that I'd be willing to bet that Noble had something too do with the approach for Harris in the first place. Looks like he was first going to be assistant. Makes you wonder if the rumoured senior players who were unhappy knew Harris was going to be the assistant and approached the Doc suggesting he would make a better head coach?
Can't quite put my finger on it but I get a feeling there is something no one has mentioned in any of the threads. Would hope for the good of the club, game and if I'm honest Nobles good name that things can be settled amicably behind closed doors.

| Reading between the lines, if half your squad repeatedly goes to the owner with concerns, it puts Koukash in a no-win situation. He has a Coach that the players are complaining about, if he ignores their wishes he gets unhappy players under-performing with a helpless Coach. If he straight sacks Noble, he makes himself look even more impatient and gets the alarm bells ringing of any potential replacements. So Koukash decides to do it the most diplomatic way by offering Noble a sideways move to try and make everyone happy. He has to do this sooner rather than later for the sake of the Club and the fans as obviously it couldn't continue the way it was going. Getting a decent and quick replacement is nigh on impossible a quarter of the season in. He opts for Harris as he's coming from the Champions backroom, he's British, and he can start quickly. Understandably, Noble feels put out.
Whether Harris is the long term answer we'll have to see the kind of deal Koukash has agreed. I'm hoping it's to the end of the season then to be reviewed. It'll make Harris hungry to imprint himself as the right choice, and wont make him sit back knowing he's got an easy pay-check for a few seasons. Equally, it allows the Club to part company at the right time and circumstances if it all goes tits-up this season.
The biggest unknown will be how the players react to Harris, but presumably it can't be any worse than their supposed reaction to Noble.

| Quote ="djws61"Reading a lot of negativity towards Harris, Man mangement, coaching methods etc and Wigan seemingly happy to see him leave or "not stand in his way". Hope Harris appointment doesn’t turn out to be a disastrous decision Ok the team hasn’t been performing as expected but with eight games gone was this really the right time for a change? … will he be given till the end of the season regardless of results ?'"
So Iestyn Harris isn’t going to want his own backroom staff?? Salford finalising a deal to keep Sean Long at the club and assistant coaches Andy Hay and Stuart Donlan are still part of the Salford backroom team for how long one wonders
Still think 8 games isn’t enough time and the injuries to key players haven’t helped as I’ve stated before stability is the key to success if results haven’t improved after 16 games is it goodbye Harris. Hope it works out and this isn’t a step backwards not because lm a fan of Harris but because of the loyal supporters who turn out week after week!

That's what I thought but if you read the quotes From Martin Vickers on SKY it appears he is still there, that is the issue with believing what you read on internet forums.

| You're both right.
MK said he'd left,MV said he's not.
By the way,how do we know it was players going to see Koukash that did for Nobby.
More speculation ?

| It says there's going to be a press conference to unveil Harris on Weds, I'm wondering if any of the alleged new RU targets will be announced too, maybe too defllect slightly from what's gone on over the last few days.

Do we have any evidence that Sean Long left because he couldn't work with Brian Noble? The official reason - that he'd been offered the chance to coach one of the biggest clubs in the world, the club he grew up supporting and who train within a 40-20 of his home - sounds pretty plausible.
From what I remember, the week his move to Wigan was announced, he stayed on the coach the Salford team for one last match. If his working relationship with Brian Noble was so bad, would he have done that? And would he have come back to Salford?

No chance of new RU signings being announced. Think we need to start viewing these references to new RU signings as an aspiration as opposed to thinking we're involved in talks with top level people.

That'd be a start. Instead he's opted for Iestyn
On a serious note, I'm more than a bit puzzled why he hasn't set his sights much higher on the coaching front, given that, as you point out, he isn't short of a bob or two.

I've nothing against Harris and I will give him 100% backing as I did Noble even though it was IMO the wrong choice, but it does make you wonder why Marwan wants the best players for the club but will settle for second rate coaches. I have a feeling we will be back at this same situation in 10 games time although I hope to god I'm wrong.

| Noble was the right appointment for the initial job.
Whether replacing him so soon was a good idea, only time will tell.
But you simply can't call either of them second rate coaches, purely because they're not to your taste.

REDRUM is right - in the ranking of coaches Harris clearly isn't first rate - whether he's even second rate is debatable. Warrington went through this appointing Paul Cullen and James Lowes - you can have all the stars you want but until you've got a top class coach you will underachieve, it's the most important appointment at the club.
A lot of what happens with Harris will depend on how the players react to the change. If they use it as an excuse to become unsettled we could slip down the league and he will be lucky to still be in a job next season. If he gets us in the 8 and the cup run goes on he will probably still be in a job at the start of 2015.

| Said this before but when the Doc made the announcement on Friday someone came on here and said that Morley had gone onto Twitter? and said what a shock this was. Now if he's the club captain I'd be amazed if he wasn't aware of any dissent amongst the ranks.
I also simply can't see Noble being the type to let a player destabalise the dressing room, he proved with his management when the GB coach that anyone stepping out of line would get dealt with.
If he wasn't he isn't the club captain I thought he was going to be.
All leads me to doubt that the issues behind the scenes were entirely player driven.
