| After seeing where the proposed new ground is just can't sign the petition, work in that neck of the woods and it's already bedlam.
And definately if there is even the smallest hint of us playing there I'm not going to go for it. Don't see any need for two stadiums within the city limits.

what a ridiculous excuse not to sign it. The times and days when games would be taking place would have little to no impact on current day to day population in that area. If anything it would give the area a kick up the rear.
As for us playing there, more chance of us getting a stadium at ladywell built than there. For starters there is not a chance that any new stadium will have a capacity over 6,000k. Why would we move to it if we are one of the leading clubs in the game over the next 20 years. Salford and Swinton use to have two fairly big grounds within a few miles of each other, certainly closer than what will be if this did happen.

What a selfish view.
You work in that neck of the woods, so? I dont envisage the Doctor will want Swinton playing their home games between the hours of 7-9am or 4-6pm Monday to Friday. Traffic on a Sunday afternoon in Swinton is virtually non existant, it also has excellet public transport links with all major bus routes going through the town centre.
There is also no hint whatsoever of us playing from there, the rumoured capacity is only 5,000 and if all goes to plan that would be far to small for us.
This is exactly the sort of development needed to kick start some new lease of life into Swinton town centre, which over the last 15 years has fell into a continual downward spiral.

| By definition the job I do I work non core hours so any increased traffic in the area would impact on me.
There is also if I'm honest the fact I don't care if Swinton survive, when morons like Marshy continually came on here this is the outcome as far as I'm concerned.

I don't like Swinton mainly due to playing for Folly and enduring the abuse I get off the Swinton fans there but I've signed as it would be shame to let them die. They are a traditional Rugby League club with great history and believe it or not they have some very loyal and knowlegable fans.
Championship (6 times): 1926–27, 1927–28, 1930–31, 1934–35, 1962–63, 1963–64
Second Division: 1984–85
Championship 1: 2011
Any club with a record like that deserves to survive.
Plus what they did for us in our hour of need was very generous of them, we need to thank them for this and the least we can do is sign the petition.

| I agree but when you get idiots from other teams coming on here for me this type of feeling is the net result, hence why I hope Castleford finish bottom.
The comment on the area is a valid one for me, anyone who works on Wardley will tell you the area gets log jammed and increasingly it is getting worse during the day and later on into the evening.
Just out of interest I asked a girl I work with who lives near Partington Lane what she thinks and the community aspect was of interest but the disruption during construction and then on match days was a big no no.

Must admit, traffic logjams in Swinton on a Sunday afternoon is a new one to me.

| On the same premise that the Doc would invest in the playing personnel you'd think that crowds would increase.
And I've seen a build up off traffic on Priestly Rd and Moorside Road on a Saturday at certain times when coming into or out of work.

Crowds would hopefully increase from the hundreds in to the low thousands. Are you honestly against Swinton being given a life line because of some misguided idea that you will be slightly inconvenienced getting to and from work on a handful of times a year?
Good job no one raised such ludicrous arguments against our ground being built. Oh wait, they did.

Misguided?
I'm speaking from experience and I was honest enough to admit that it's partly due to Marshy. I said at the time when he was on here continually sniping and generally being a tool this would be my reaction. Sorry to all the other Swinton fans and I've no doubt that other teams feel the same when some of our mob go on other clubs forums antagonising them.
For what it's worth there must be a better a site in Swinton than where we are talking about.

Hopefully you don't get a new job anytime soon because it would be disappointing if we lost a rugby league club with 147 years of history because it interfered with your commute and then you moved on.

Don't worry flower I have no intentions of changing jobs. I mean if I didn't do what I do I know of at least two of your away days last season where you wouldn't have had a beer at away grounds.
I notice you ignored the salient point that there are better locations in Swinton, though it's a trait you share with others on here.
I think the original idea near the prison would be ideal and the community aspect could maybe include educational facilities that could be utilised by the correctional staff and inmates. Maybe there is an option for government grants if this is posdoble.

| What are these better other sites in Swinton then? Agecroft is a non starter for various reasons, the site is too small, the land is owned by the prison and above all it's a sh*t location. The proposed site is the best available within the M27 postcode.
Embarrassing input to what was a great topic.

| There is plenty of land going towards Clifton and then Kearsley and the other area I always wonder about is the land next to the Henry Bods.
Sorry but still don't see why Swinton aren't playing at Barton and where possible as a curtsin raiser game before we play especially when the Doc has taken them over.

I ignored it because it's nonsense as pointed out by JGR. You've suggested scrapping the Ambrose Barlow idea to go back to Agecroft which as JGR has pointed out is now a non-starter. You've also now pulled from total thin air a 'community aspect' to the Agecroft project that 'could include educational facilities that could be used by the inmates.' You've also managed to unearth some previously unknown government grants to fund the project.
This all seems like a fairly watertight, well researched and fully funded plan, certainly better than the back of a fag packet scheme that clueless joker Koukash has probably put together. And should your scheme fail for some unforeseen reason then don't panic there is always some spare land near the Henry Bods.
Dearie me.

You really must read posts better, I suggested that if education facilities could be added to any project then surely grants would be available, I don't profess to know if this is the case or not but it would stand too reason that building something of that nature would be in line for a grant as educational facilities would benefit the community as a whole rather than just the rugby team who played there..
I would suggest you ignore things more because your ignorant and because I don't blindly agree with everything you say (the annoying things most of what you say has more than a little merit too it). This is a public forum and because I chose on this occasion to not follow the party line you don't like it, well that's democracy for you like it or lump it.
Again you in your increasingly more common way ignore a point in that surely Swinton would be best served playing at Barton, it's a ready made facility and don't forget that if the Doc does go ahead with his plan to buy Swinton if would surely benefit them to be able to use the facilities he has just invested in at the stadium. I'm pretty sure the Swinton would also benefit from shared coaching as from what I see Salford train during the day and Swinton being part time tend to train in the evenings.

So just to make sure I've read your post properly you think Swinton would be better moving to Agecroft because of the availability of grants, although you [i'don't profess to know' [/iif these grants exist at all? Just want to make sure we're on the same page there.

I think you mean [i'you're ignorant[/i.'
The classic fall back of someone who knows his argument holds no water - start quoting 'democracy' and 'freedom of speech'. A policy adopted by OFFTHECUFF earlier today. I have no problem with anyone saying anything but if they post on a public forum then people have the right to tell them they are talking crap, which in this instance you are.

I'm not ignoring anything. It's just that most of your posts contain so many wild ideas you have pulled from thin air it's difficult to find the time to respond to them all. Swinton want to play in M27, and not at Barton, and rightly so. As was posted by someone the other day Sale supposedly have a restriction on the amount of days the pitch can be used throughout the year which means Swinton cannot play at Barton. Are you honestly saying, long term it is better for Swinton RLFC to be based out of Barton as opposed to their own ground in Swinton? There are also logistical problems to having a semi-pro/pro team playing back to back games. On coaching, we are still two separate clubs, this is not a merger, so I'm not sure where this shared coaching would come in. Nobby working 15 hour days perhaps? Just a selection of reasons why Swinton should not play at Barton in case you thought I was ignoring you.
