A definite off day, from both sides which makes it worse - had they played well I wouldn't have minded so much?!
I did predict we'd lose and wasn't surprised that we did, just the manner of the defeat that worried me.
However we don't have a good/big/old enough squad to ensure any kind of consistency just yet so, as long as we look better next week, we should just put it down to experience and move on.
The coaches/players shouldn't let last night change their plans for the improved style of football which we've played over recent weeks.
Crusaders were terrible and somehow we were worse. The worst game I think I've ever seen.
The more I think about it the worse it becomes. They weren't just there for the taking, they were there to get demolished but we played the whole game a such a pedestrian pace it was untrue. No offloads, no support, no spreading the ball, no line speed, no depth, no creativity, just nothing. If we played like we have been doing then that could have been a 30+ win.
I really really really hope its just a glitch, but no matter what, its going to take some turn around to even start to compete with Castleford on that showing.
Holdsworth has got the potential to be a very good player, but he needs to start doing something different and run with the ball. Its one of three things every time- inside ball, behind to Patten or short to somebody like Adamson (who I thought actually played pretty well). I'm not for one second blaming Holdsworth for us losing, but he is our captain and we insist on virtually everything coming through him and its just not good enough atm.
I thought Godwin, Adamson played well as did Gleeson (although according to the website he is being assessed on an ankle injury), Cashmere and Ratchford in patches. Anderson tried hard but made two stupid errors, but hopefully he can pick it up next week, we need him to. Ganson didn't exactly help the game and how Gareth Thomas' try was given I will never know.
Hopefully it is just a case of Crusaders being our bogey team and next week we will be playing to our potential. Time will tell.
