| The man who never made a mistake never made anything.
Since when can a person not do wrong but then make up for it?
None of us know whether Malc will make a good coach - all I know is what I've seen on the pitch over the last few years and that's a guy who has consistently given 100% for Salford Reds - I don't think he's a saint, but I don't think he deserves the ridicule that some seem to be aiming his way.
And just to round it off (and suprise Hillbilly Red) "There will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance" - St Luke

| Didn't know you went to the Heights as well!
As an aside - why can't a great defender not be a great attacking coach - seems a good idea to me on the lines of using goalies to teach penalty shooting.

| Great services are not canceled by one act or by one single error.
The past is a source of knowledge, and the future is a source of hope. Love of the past implies faith in the future.
Pretty apt quotes for Malc and more so certain Salford fans on this forum!

| I just hope his coaching off the field will add a bit of steel to our defence and being off the field he wont be near the ruck so our attacking play will be quicker.
I cant see a loser there, win win for me

| Someone correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't Malcontent coaching Wigan st. Pats a few years back and they were top of the national conference? I think people need to get over the past as if he's the only person to have ever done wrong.
The guy is Salford through and through, probably more so than some so called fans on here. He's given this club everything and don't we all make mistakes in life. Makes me laugh to some are so blinkered to think Rugby players are goody two shoes and all got to bed and behave. Anyone who has been around a group of grown men in any form know its about the banter, the messing and sometimes t goes to far.
Good luck Malc. I'm sure you'll give 110% in coaching to the Reds as you do/have into playing

| Lert me just start by saying I have nothing about malc joining the coaching staff!!
Forget alll the Florida talk/hype. Been and gone.
My beef is that our club has now been in the same rut for the last 10 or so. We always seem (to me anyway) to recuite our secondery coaches from within the club, i.e ex players.
The club as we all know has been in the yoyo situation for a number of years. My point being is that the players we have and then bring into to coaching are all in the same mind frame. Which doe's not bring in new ideas, new paterns and new coaching styles. Therefore we will not progress forward onto the next level. We need to bring into the club a new face, with a different perspective that can move the club forward. Who that is, I dont know, but i'm sorry it aint mal alker, have him on the coaching staff, yes. But as second to McRea no..
We need fresh blood, to bring in new ideas for both attack and defence..

| If we are looking for a new assistant what about John Pendlebury at Wigan? With Brian Noble rumoured to be leaving he may not figure if Wigan bring in a new head coach.
In his playing days Pendlebury was a clever ball playing loose-forward that could read a game well. John Pendlebury may be the type of person to offer the team some good coaching to improve our attacking play?
Why not make Malc the Defence and Motivational Coach? and leave the attacking coaching to someone else?
