| Quote ="Fatboys Limb"Rubbish! Wanderers spent a fortune on new players in an attempt to fill the gap that Anelka left. Unfortunately, most of them proved to be gash and spent the majority of last year playing reserve team football (or at least deserving to).
Still, don't let that get in the way of your rant?!
'"
Woah, woah, woah, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?? Cahill, Steinnson, Mark Davies and Taylor were bought with the Anelka money and have been smashing for little old Bolton thanks.
However, if you were referring to Elmander and Rasiak then your point stands.

| and another thing i never said it was the clubs fault for charging £17, just said it is too expensive, like every other club. And i bet it's not just me who know people who come every now and again but wont come all the time because of the price/ us usually getting beat!

I'll give you Matty Taylor, Cahill, Davies and Taylor.
However, I'll see your Rasiak and Elmander ... and raise you Riga and Smolarek?!
Go back to my original point, think we can firmly say that the Anelka money has definitely been spent ... whether wisely is another matter?!

Forget about Riga.. utterly useless. Point taken. Its always hit and miss when Garty gets a fax.
Back to the O/P. Think it would be virtually impossible to prove that any tapping up has gone on (if indeed it has). When any player at a club of our stature has a youngster performing well there are always going to be rumours about said player moving on. Bear in mind his agent is constantly in the press generating interest from other clubs and/or trying to get Salford to spend daft money on keeping Myler, so proving tapping up would be nigh on impossible should he sign for Wolves. Not sure his media messages are working, todays Myler article in the Mirror featured a picture of that talented youngster Karl Fitzpatrick.
Out of interest, could anyone suggest a sensible amount to offer Myler and his minder? I'd love him to stay but don't think making a lad in only his second season of top flight rugby is sensible.

Not one of you answered any of the questions i ask, Do you think all the money raised from the sale of myler will go on players or just some of it? Did the club do enough the season after we made the playoffs to take us up a level?
And as for me finding another 7000 fans, i'm sure someone is getting paid quite a bit of money at salford trying to do that job! Is it working? £17 to get in for starters is wrong! Thats not just us but every other ground as well! £10 for concession i think, thats too much! I Know of a lot of people who dont go because it cost too much to get in to watch us usually get beat! That takes me back to my first post, we made the play offs, our attendances were slighty better that season, if we'd had spent a bit of extra cash for decent players, won more games probably, not been in a relegation battle all season, maybe crowds would of increased again!'"
ok, scrub the finding 7,000 fans yourself, find us an investor?
nope? know no-one? move on then...

| Dear Jaymc9 and ex-SalfordUni,
Mr Wilkinson has offered to sell his share of the club to someone who has the best interests of Salford RLFC as a priority.
Here us your chance. Like Mr Wilkinson, you will need some collateral but, from the evidence of your posts, you obviously live in a world of unlimited credit and boundless possibilities. Like Mr Wilkinson, you may expose your homes and savings to being taken from you but, again from your posts, I know you have the drive to see Salford in a fine stadium attracting 20 000 fans and making both of you huge profits.
However I feel that you may not want the criticism you direct to Mr Wilkinson. I'm sure that this can be overcome. As you have in public used your "right" to request Mr Wilkinson spend his own money, I feel that my request will lead to you spending your own.
Please now put up ....
Yours
HBR

Not enough for you to come in as Chairman and put nought in to pay wages. 5 weeks for Salford come the Huddersfield match without ANY hom,e income.

| of course i wont come in as chairman, i wish i had the money too and i would. The club can't of been running at much of a loss for the past 20+ years or JW would of been long gone and so would the club! I dont know how wealthy the guy is but he cant be that loaded for us not being able to spend the cap, which is why i persume the club cant be making much of a loss as others make out!

| A Conservative average loss pa for a RL club like Salford over the 27 years JAW has been Chairman would be £100k. So the Directors in that time would have footed nigh on £3 million of debts from their own after Income Tax on their Savings and Capital Gains Tax on any second properties.
Look at St Helens - all their silverware etc and still they have a huge imbalance met by Directors.
My advice to anybody who aspires to join a Board of a RL club is ...........don`t.

| Quote ="Prestwich Red"How do Wakefield and Harlequins manage to keep their young players and in fact in Wakefields case bring in Britishor foreign quality replacements if a player does leave.
All we seem to do is get second rate Ozzies .Then when we have the best crop of youngsters I have seen at the club for years we are about to possibly lose them .
Something does not add up here and I for one would like answers.
BTW I mention the two other clubs as they get similar crowds to ourselves (Harlequins even less)'"
In Wakefield case, that’s not always the way. With a year left on his contract Gaz Ellis was offered pots of money to stay, he went to Leeds for less money, in order to win stuff, and fair play to the lad. There is constant talk of Atkins & Brough been lured away. In fact this board is similar to Wakeys, what with player retention problems, poor attendances & lack of stadium development.

I wouldn't know how to run a club, i'm just a supporter who questions our clubs ambition or lack of it. How have other clubs progressed over the years, like wakefield, cas and quins? We've just stayed at the same rubbish level apart from one season.

Two of the aforementioned have been or (if you believe the rumours) are very close to going bust.
Cas have consistently managed to attract bigger crowds than us (even when they were being beaten regularly and paying a fair ticket price) thus improving revenue.
But in all cases, surely these are examples of clubs that have spent wisely and built solid squads rather than throwing big sums at players (a la Warrington).
You talk about ambition etc but you need to realise we're already punching well above our weight, playing competative rugby in the top tier. Frankly, the 3500 of us are f*cking spoilt!

its not a coincidence that JW owns a welding importing business and we were sponsored for years by a random italian firm called cebora...
maybe your news agent will oblige?
its our directors who secure (or actually own in some cases) our sponsors!
and they work very hard doing it and deserve our thanks.
