| i thought first half we played well the effort was there and we contained them quite well. but the second half was shocking 2 many errors and gave away 2 many penalties albeit some were shocking decisions by that french prat! for me our props just arnt good enough they dont make enough yards and between cashmere and stapo i think they only ran it in about 5 times between them in the first half. overall tho happy with the effort but gutted were out wanted 2 go 2 wembely. theres always next year. red army!!

| I thought stapo was brought back to soon, he didn't look as though he had recovered from he's injury, him and cashmere didn't play that well and littler was just greedy as soon as he got the ball he just ran with it he never once passed the ball on,and when he did run with it he got all of three steps.
We had no answer to wigans fast passing of the ball, it's a good job that we have been working our defense, or the score would have been a lot worse.
I will go next week but nephew and father in law wont

| It was a bit of a reality check. We tried hard and we weren't humiliated but we were beaten by team of internationals who had too much class on the night.
Their forwards were superb and their tactical kicking was far better than ours. We helped to beat ourselves by dropping the ball far too often and making poor attacking decisions.
However, the glass is half full. If this match had been played a few weeks ago Wigan would have run up a cricket score.
We took more fans than I expected and we gave our lads great support but I have to say there were too many infiltrators from the round ball game for my liking. A rugby league ground is not the place to spit hatred at opposing players or fans.
I remember the day when it was common to applaud the opposition when they executed a particularly brilliant move and many's the time the home fans at the Willows did this for the likes of Alex Murphy or Eric Ashton.
I suppose those days are gone. More's the pity. I've been watching the Reds for over half a century but if it ever gets like football I'll be gone too.

I go to the so called round ball game as well as cricket.People have always had a go at opposition players. Please dont tell me it has not always been around in RL, because I know that is untrue

We still applaud players off, what about Hull this year and other games when we have taken a total tonking but still been gratious in defeat.
Believe it or not it still also happens in the round ball game, Barca Man United the other night a case in point.

| Quote ="Prestwich Red"Wigan stopped Myler playing and the main problem we had was that the forwards just did not make enough yards.
We were constantly stuck in our own half, in fact I can only think of three other times apart from the try when we actually were in Wigans half.
Great turnout but where will these fans be next week and also the next home game
'"
Wigan didn't stop Myler, he hid out on the wing for most of the game. All Wigans tries came down the side of the field where Myler was "defending"
The real deal, Sam Tomkins was there for you all to see last night, I'll bet Talau was sick of the site of him.

| The 1st half was very tight, a real arm-wrestle for the forwards which I thought you didn't capitalize on since we had Hansen playing prop.
The 2nd half, Salford just didn't control the ball well at all, giving us far too much ball in your half.

| for me it was a tight first half, with Wigans first trycoming from a very blatant forward paas, and I think we scored the best try of the night, we had a chance early in the second when Ratchford kicked through and after a game of ping pong behind the Wigan line the French prat made a massive error in awarding the drop out when it should have been a Red penalty for Wigan offside.
We should have kicked when we did get a pen this would have put us 2 behind, we were very flat on attack wigan were lying deep and running onto the passes on an angle with dummy runners who were just within the rules.
We were second best on the night but some very poor decisions, we can knock on facing our line wigan can't and pulled up for a forward pass which even the Wigan fans missed rank as some outstanding decs.
Our passing was laboured, but the coaching genius, might have a plan that the CC don't matter so have a practice match and then next week chance the plan and win

| We put a lot of effort in but it was all very laboured. Wigan deserved to win because they played better and their forwards were better. Our Props wilted. Stapo seemed to be back too early? Cashmere now seems not to offload or we are not backing the possibility up. I thought Jewitt played hard. Our kicking was poor and we just didn't seem to get going.
The Referee IMHO made a lot of errors and was very poor. I think the scoreline flattered Wigan but they deserved to win still.

| Quote ="Alex BP'"What are your thoughts on Alker? I've enjoyed seeing him play over his career but seems generally tired. His distribution from acting half back was very poor and there wasn't a hint of his usual running game.
Is he past it?'"
Alker is suffering from many years of injuries and from spending a career defending. He has a lot of very obvious offensive weaknesses but that's as a result of never being able to develop his skills due to defensive comments. Whilst I think it's great Adamson is putting in a big effort in defence I worry he will end up the same as Alker ... a promising player limited by having to carry a team.
This should be the last year at Salford for Alker for me, he is clearly struggling. The sooner Myler is ready to take over the captaincy the better.
Quote ="Adamjk"I thought defensively we weren't as bad as the scoreline suggested and the effort was definitely there for a most of the match. We just didn't help ourselves with kicking out on the full twice and giving away a number of penalties.'"
I'd disagree; I thought we were very poor defensively. We didn't move up anywhere near quick enough and the only time we got even remotely close to their kicker was when Jewitt cleaned out Tomkins. That said there was no lack of effort.
Quote ="NickyKiss"The same ref that ruled out a nailed on try for McIlorum with the scores at 16-6? Worst call i've literally even seen.'"
Any decision against Wigan is the worst decision ever ever ever in the history of sport, humanity, space and time blah blah blah ...
Quote ="Rogues Gallery"Wigan didn't stop Myler, he hid out on the wing for most of the game. All Wigans tries came down the side of the field where Myler was "defending"

Rubbish. Myler was quiet because his forwards didn't build any sort of a platform him. Conversely Tomkins had a real platform to work from but he was very predictable. I set my watch by the cut out ball on the right hand in the first half. He's only 18 (or whatever) though so I don't want to sound too critical.
My points:
* I've only seem about half our games this year but I remain underwhelmed by Robbie Paul's contribution on the pitch.
* Mark Henry is not a winger and is being stifled out there.
* Wilshere's effort on Hock for the first try was terrible. He needs to learn to put his body on the line once in a while.
* Both sides are very very average and last night doesn't change the fact that Saints will win the trophy this year. However given that Wigan spend half a million more than us a year we showed well.
* Halibut or whatever his name is was awful. He needs to re-read the definition of a knock-on (four occasions when he called that wrong, three for us one for Wigan), needs to remember to put his hand up to signal the fifth (!) and to make a decision and stick to it (he called a forward pass early on after having waved play-on and then his linesman signalled).

Really? So you're saying that everyone who acts in a way that, in your eyes, is unacceptable, then they're clearly football fans? You're bracketing all football fans in the same category?
Some of us watch both sports, and cricket, and other sports, and can behave ourselves. A lot of people who watch football can behave themselves. A lot of those there last night who, in your eyes, were not behaving themselves, were people who follow Salford above anything else. Do you really think any "football infiltrators" would've known to aim that abuse squarely at Coley? Give over.
RL has always had a "badly behaved" element. However, it's also got a large self-righteous element that will never accept that those elements are actual RL supporters and will always blame it on people who support other sports. Remember the trouble at the Hull derby the other year? "It was all City fans" they cried. Then the pictures came out and they were all wearing FC/KR colours. You see my point?

| The more supporters that come from local football teams; the better it is for us at Salford. As soon as we start to get more through the turnstiles the better the chance we make more revenue and can compete on a more even footing with regards the Salary Cap.

| The ref had no impact on the result of this game. Wigan out played Salford in every department.
Salford's completion rate of 55% says much about the game.
We need to do something about Jon Wilshere's confidence, otherwise we need a fullback.
Myler had a quiet game and spent too much time defending. Ratchford was my MOM, the score would have been so much worse without some of his last ditch tackling. Some of the kicks were poor, but that is the same for eveyone who kicked. Alker had one of his worst games, kicking out on the full.
Really disappointed as we have impreved greatly in recent weeks, feel this is a huge backward step.
The forwards did little, Cashmere is disappointing for a big guy, whether it is the passes he is receiving or what but he needs to be in his stride when he hits the defenders.
Last night we had no runners, no options. Wigan had plenty of dummy runners causing problems, they came on the angle, we reverted to 5 drives.

| At which point in the game did the ref miss a tackle, kick poorly, knock on!!????
Halibut was poor for both teams to be fair.
The main things have already been mentioned here we lacked defensive composure. one on one tackles were missed by the large majority of the team. Some more important than others.
Our Forwrads were lacklustre and missing that spark of aggression.
Our halfs had a poor kicking game and no platform to build any kind of attack from.
Our backs ran 5 steps then hit brick walls.
We never utilised the wings correctly.
To many big game players never turned up. They probably ted themselves when they saw the biggest away following the reds have ever taken anywhere for years.
Wigan whilst not being that great were better. Paleiwhatisname cut through us like a hot knife through butter and Hock was his usual self and scoring tries. And yet again we wound up Coley that poorly he had another great game against us
Hopefully with only the usual 3-400 following the players may have learnt from their mistakes the other night and give us something more to cheer about.

| The effort was there, we tried but we came out of the arm wrestle to early and paniced, we dropped to much ball, conceeded too many penalies and field position allowing wigan chances which they convered.
Wigan were not a million miles away from us just our bottle went 1st, why i dont know im sure the players will learn from this and it will improve them.
Clapped them off at the end to celebrate our cup run not yesterdays performance as i feel we beat ourselves.

| Myler on Pat Richards wing lost us the game, simple as. Whoever made the decision to put our smallest player outwide against their biggest wants a slap.
Alker/Paul had no impact on the game and never got the forwards going. To many times our forwards ran onto the ball standing still.
Not good enough.

Theres a fantastic hooker in the under 16's (Adam Files) I'm not sure he'll be ready for superleague next season, but he'll defo make it in 2-3 years.

Its his inability to put his body on the line at times whats the problem, so many times of a bomb or a dink of a kick when the oppositions chase has been good he'll pull out of the collision or go in half hearted causing a knock on, teams know this thats why they do this and the fact he catches the ball from these towering bomb away from his body probably increases the chances of a knock on ten fold.
Part of the fullbacks role is to be the last line of defence, the likes of Gary Broadbent or a fit Fitzpatrick never ever pulled out of collision they got the ball and took what ever came with it be it a foot, head, knee. Thats what he get paid for, they took the hits and probably spent the next day in bed unable to move but they won the collision and we got the ball back so we could move forward on the next play.
For the record i wouldnt put Fitzy back in, he's lost 2 yards he isnt quick enough for superleague level now imo, he's brave like a lion at times but no point being brave in a collision if your not quick enough to get there.
Wilshire is a good kicker and going forward he has enough of a brain to worry a defence, in an ideal world id put him on the wing as a thinking winger but the position were in he'll have to stay where he is for the time being and our defencsive line will need to slow the chance down.
I dont think they'll be taking the captancy of alker any time soon, remember what happened last time that happened...........

you should get the video of the game the ref was not great for both sides both were never taken back the 10 missed loads of high shots in the first half.
Second Half he was better at getting both back the 10 but still did not have a great game. But since the ref's have gone full time i think the standards have slipped.
