I read this thread and didn't really know what to make of it.... However... I back any group of fans attending a game and trying to make an atmosphere... be it Salford, Wigan... or any other supporters.

The game of rugby league deserves every ground to be bouncing.

One thing that does make me laugh though is a Saints fan coming on here.... 100-200 Salford fans have been outsinging 8-10,000 Saints fans at Knowsley Road for years...probably won't be any different in round 2.

Yes i agree,but how come a town like Sts produce such fantastic teams like they do year upon year,yeah we know about how great there youth programme is,i lost players,when i was coaching3 of my lads turned pro,not one to Salford,these were Salford lads,and believe me or not another 3 at least could have made the grade.Salford did not once send any scouts to any of our games.Wigan,Warrington even Leeds sent scouts,one of my lads ending up signing for LEEDS.four lads we had at training at the start of the year,by the end we had 30.It needs people like you to give there time up to help,if teams like ours are going to succeed we need you.

I really hope we can get something going for wigan, just to see what the acoustics are like in the south stand.

Glad this topic has risen up, I can't remember who suggested it but do we think trying to get a bit of stand interaction between the main stand and the standing section like FC united do at gigg lane, it would be ace if we get the balance right what is everyones thoughts?

It's good to see a group of lads trying to improve the atmosphere at games even if a lot of what they're doing is cringeworthy.

We'll never see a return to decent atmospheres at Salford - too many people are too apathetic towards the club now.

Not forgetting that, sometimes, people are just too nervous to sing...

This is a huge bugbear of mine... Salford's scouting system is awful. I have been involved at an amateur team in Salford (Cadishead Rhinos) for over 10 years... and have yet to see a Salford scout down there. The club now have a number of teams competing at different age groups and the potential at the club is huge... yet nothing. We do have players trialling for the town teams... but it's up to the club to send who they see fit and hope that they meet the grade. I'd sooner see a scout looking at a real game and picking out players. I've seen a number of players at the club who I would love to see given a chance to prove themselves... but they have no chance if the Salford club aren't interested.

Danny, I don't know how Salford's (or rugby league in general, to be fair) scouting works, but I know that a lot of football clubs send scouts down incognito to have a look at players. There may well have been someone down there to have a look, you're just not aware of them being there.

I'm not saying that's a definite, by the way, just that it could be a possibility.

Yes your spot on,i know of 3 lads who actually played their rugby away from Salford,warrington and leigh to be precise,two off these lads turned pro,the third was just unfortunate yet played on and was voted the second best ever player to wear their badge,the other two lads ended up playing for Salford,what i`m trying to get at L.F is that our amateur clubs do their best,other than Eccles,most of the clubs don`t have a club house or are run from pubs,its not attractive enough for our kids to get involved,and as you know,we have the lads out there.Please don`t get me wrong,you yourself and the people who give up their time to coach or help out in anyway at these amateur clubs have my utmost respect,i myself gave 3yrs coaching the under 15s and playing second fiddle to the open age lads,i loved every minute,this i feel is where Salford go wrong,yeah i know they are in schools but its these amateur clubs they should be helping.
