So I'll sum up the previous 198 replies to save you all the trouble :-
No. we haven't built our stadium yet!
If/when *( delete as required ) we do get it built it may look sod all like the fancy Architects impression , in fact it may look as bad as Wigans'.
We may not be able to look out from the Jacuzzi in the plush main stand Hotel because that isn't going to exist either..
Sale, Man U Youth, Irlam Hornets ,Harlem Globetrotters may / may not be ground sharing with us, depending on your point of view or what your mate down the pub told you.
It's generally agreed all the Grass has grown back on site and we've dug up all the cavemen.
Lots of fans from other clubs posting ( mainly from NL1 Franchise clubs unsuccessful in their application for SL ) are 'suspicious ' .. and have expressed that suspicion in prosaic / predictable fashion . and some of our fans have taken the bait ..
Peel / Trafford Centre are a big concern and it's evident we are now ' even more' dancing to their tune.

Erm...which means it's a SuperLeague team. In the event that Salford are relegated, in 3 years time, then you can give it the big one about their team not being SuperLeague and do this a lot. In the interim you're going to have to accept that Salford are a SuperLeague club, with a SuperLeague team and Leigh are not and that the LSV is a National League stadium. You should probably also remember that Leigh played one season in the top flight in the last couple of decade or so and were a complete, and utter, joke and frankly an embarrassment to the competition.
I should also say at this point that I'm a Warrington fan. We are also a SuperLeague team and have not played a single second of Rugby (either code) outside the top flight since our inception. In case you were wondering, I do remember our friendly with Leigh last year and I did laugh at your fans reaction to the victory.

Yes we were happy , I remember all your fans telling us how when your new australian imports started to play how you were going to beat saints and Leeds to the title and the Challenge Cup
I remember King being knocked all over the pitch at Hilton Park by a player that started the season at Blackpool
Yes Warrington and Salford will be playing in SL this season
But SUPER league clubs
, Yeah Right
I asked a question of the Salford fans claiming that they didn't affiliate themselves with Manchester if they thought thier SL application had included Manchesters population as potential new fans , simple question not trolling or abusive , just an observation
Some took it the wrong way

What a ridiculous generalisation. I don't know many Warrington fans who were anything other than pessimistic about our season.
Are you suggesting that Warrington and Salford are not SuperLeague clubs? On what basis?
As for not being trolling and abusive - you certainly were trolling by suggesting that Salford was not a SuperLeague team and now you're claiming that there not a SuperLeague club. I was just pointing out what utter bol[il[/iocks that is, that was all.

Serious point - about getting the public interested, especially without a relegation decider against HKR to attract interest.
And before you say it - yes, we suffer from exactly the same problem, in getting the public interested.

Was looking on the TIF Manchester Congestion Charge website and it mentions at the bottom of the second page that they are planning to expand the Metrolink through the proposed new Salford Reds stadium site to Port Salford!

It appears to be yet another sweetener to help soften the blow on the Trafford Centre's potential loss of future footFall and subsequent rate reductions to it's tenants?

I think "can't possibly" may be going a bit far (unless you've got figures). To put £3B in context - the original "Big Bang" proposal to expand Metrolink to Oldham, Rochdale, Ashton, Trafford Park, Chorlton, Didsbury, Wythenshawe and the Airport was costed at about £900M. £3B leaves a lot left over for extra buses and trains that don't need associated construction work.
In terms of stadium specifics, if the public transport to the site isn't vasly improved it will me a negative for getting people there and, for me, a negative in terms of enjoyment because I'll end up having to drive and not have a drink. I'm liking the proposal for a much more direct bus service between Prestwich and Eccles than the current 484.

I don’t have complete faith that in a few years time, the estimated budget won't be blown. Wembley Stadium and the 2012 Olympics comes to mind. Granted, they are a London thing.
I've just skimmed the updated proposal and there’s nothing in there about the GPS tracking for buses at every stop which was muted in the press. If that was definitely a part of the propsal, it’d be a definite Yes for me.

Would it not be better idea to have GPS transmitters on the buses/trams so people can see where they are on a GPS mobile phone? Key the bus number in and it tells you exactly where the bus is located?

Well that’d be great, but it’s reliant on the end user either having a GPS enabled device, or if they can send a text message for the info — paying money.
There are some bus stops around Swinton and Broughton that trialed an electronic board system, similar to what the Metrolink uses. That would suit everybody, providing the your nearest bus stop isn’t vandalised.

But more buses might mean that timetables effectively don't matter. I've no idea what time the 135 bus is due near me, but I know that there's that many of them running I probably wouldn't have to wait more than 10 minutes and when it turned up I wouldn't know if it was late or early.

Whilst I agree with you when it comes to watching our beloved Reds what about daily life ? this tax on the motorist (you me and most people) just trying to go about our lives is simply not acceptable.

| The whole congestion charge idea is flawed.
If it does its job, and clears the majority of cars from the roads during the rush hour, and everyone reverts to public transport, then how is the £3 billion (+ interest) paid back? The whole concept relies on people still using their cars to pay back the loan.
If they cant raise the revenue to repay the loan, then the only options left will be to increase the congestion chrage area, increase the charge, increase the hours of operation or stick it onto the council tax.
As stated above VOTE NO!

| so the greater manchester concil is calling for more public transport, to link all areas,?????
please tell me where they were in 1983 when the goverment privatisied the public transport system and made it the mess it is today,
in Salford we had 2 bus garages one at weaste and one at fredrick rd, all serving the CITY OF SALFORD, plus the Lancashire utd garage in Switon just of the east lancs road, near Swine town town hall,
at the time i worked at fredrick road, we were told that both depots in salford , although running at a profit and meeting the local needs we were to close and everything moved to queens rd or disbury or bolton, and there started the decline in the transport system in manchester, they shud of kept it with local councils local garages local drivers local routes ,
i woundnt trust manchester city council to book my holiday, let alone run a transport system.
all talk no action and when they do its all foooked up.

| Can we try to keep any discussion, including congestion charge and public transport, on topic with relation to the stadium - I know I've been somewhat guilty myself here but I've tried to give some relvance to public transport to our stadium. If people want to start a discussion purely on congestion charging please start another OT thread.

| i think what most people are trying to say on here is, that if the council are saying they will invest in transport to our new stadium, when it is up and running, that they dont believe a word of it,
when has GMC ever done any thing for SALFORD and i mean the CITY not the team, they have riped the heart out of the CITY AND THE PEOPLE who were born n brought up there, taken lots out put nothing back,
im one of the lucky ones and moved away,
BUT im still sad to see what GMC and our own so called CITY council has done to a once proud CITY.
and a congestion charge is not going to change anything apart from the pockets of GMC .
