| Quote ="crowngreenbowler"Re. the question about real ale pub(s) - the nearest is the Grapes. Its on the A57 (439 Liverpool Road, Peel Green, M30 7HD). It's listed in CAMRA's current Good Beer Guide, and I suspect has been for many a year.
Unspoilt interior, four or five rooms, on the 10 & 67 bus routes. I'd reckon if you're walking to/from here, then allow a good 5 min. walk to the new stadium, certainly 10 mins max. Holts ales, by the way!
The Unicorn is nearer, but I'd be absolutely amazed if that place had any real ale. If you want a decent variety, (and some ballast), then Wetherspoons (at Eccles bus interchange / tram terminus / Morrisons), is your best bet. It's called the Eccles Cross. There's also the bonus of another Holts pub - the Lamb - being only 40 yards away. These again are both GBG entries.'"
Make that a 15-25 minute walk. All depends on how fit you are...

| To my knowledge the bridge will be finished when the stadium is, as for distance you need to travel to get to a bus / taxi how far is the DW stadium from the train station? 2 miles from our stand consider u have to walk all the way round ? eccles isn't too far to walk if you walk down barton lane maybe 2 mile past at least 3 pubs I'm not sure something to consider I'm sure when plotting our new pre post match drinking habits
I surpose it will be a case of trial and error at the begining where to drink/how to travel there will be teething problems its just about embracing change and not getting frustrated.

| If there's anyone on here from Eccles RL maybe they can answer but does the clubhouse have a bar?, notice that there is a path under the motorway from the training area that would maybe make it a 10 minute walk?
Would be a brilliant way for Eccles to raise revenue if they opened up to allow pre match drinkers.
For after match drinks on a Friday the Grapes on Church Street opens again this weekend and you quite often get a few fans in the Oddies after Friday night games.
What about the talk of a Harvester being built on the stadium site?

| Looking good. What are the plans with regards to parking at the new ground? From the pictures it doesn't seem like there are even access roads at the moment and it's hard to see where you will be able to park?

I'm not from Eccles but i can confirm they do have a bar, beer garden with a built BBQ and so forth and yes there is a path under the motorway on to brookhouse which comes out right between the clubhouse and the pitches.
If they (and i am sure they will) put the effort in, they could benefit massively from this. They have a big Car Park which they could promote for use, a bar for pre-match and post-match drinks and a nice easy walk over to the new ground. Eccles rugby club could see a nice tidy increase in revenue.

Where have you got that from? I can't even find any evidence of the project going to tender. The Greater Manchester Local Travel plan from March this year lists it as a "longer term" scheme very much linked in with the progress of the Port Salford development (according to tenders, the contracts for the [idesign[/i work for the port were due to commence this month) and has no budgeted spend on it this year.
From www.tfgm.com/ltp3/documents/LAIP ... 100511.pdf
Quote Longer Term Major Schemes
Western Gateway Infrastructure Scheme, (WIGIS)
4.6 WGIS is a major highway scheme which will provide the additional
highway capacity required to allow major development proposals in this
area to proceed, not just Port Salford but other proposals around this
section of the motorway. However, the size of the Port Salford
development alone, and the impact this would have on the local
highway network, is significant enough for the need to implement
WGIS. The main aims of WGIS are to allow a free flow of traffic on the
M60 between junctions 9 through to 12 (with actual alterations to
Junctions 10 and 11) and provide alternative vehicle access directly to
Trafford Park, Irlam and Cadishead.
4.7 The WGIS scheme is likely to be implemented in two phases, part WGIS and
full WGIS. Conditions imposed by the Highways Agency require that the
rail link is provided prior to any of Port Salford being occupied, part
WGIS be provided prior to the first 50% of the warehousing facility
being brought into use and full WGIS be provided prior to that 50%
being exceeded. The delivery of WGIS is dependent on the delivery of
the warehousing at Port Salford. =#FF0000There are no precise dates available
to determine when WGIS would be delivered. Planning permission for
WGIS will expire in 2019.'"

The bridge that is under construction and will be ready is the one linking the stadium to the A57, I think it's what can be seen to the left of the site offices on this pic taken by billybradshawsmum:
Barton Swing Bridge, or traversing Barton Locks are the only methods for the foreseeable future. From the Port Salford planning condition, the road system won't [uhave[/u to be in place until the freight rail line is built, the port warehousing is built, and half of that space is being used. Though it could be sooner.

If you can find the planning application on the Salford council website the detailed plans of every level are on there - they take some finding though as there are a lot of pdfs attached to the application.

| Looking good. Have you gne for the 15000 option?
What is the capacity of each stand? Which do you think will be the new shed and which will be the away end/side?
Can't wait for our first meeting there. Almost a home match for east-side warringtonians.

| Can't help but feel they should have gone for the 15,000 option first time. That would mean possible semi-finals at the venue, internationals, maybe championship final. At 12k it has nothing over LSV for those events. A little more put in would have meant a lot more out of it..

| Passed the new stadium site on Tuesday and the entrance from the A57 is in the process of being widened, plus the whole of the original lay-by appears to have been dug up and new pipes etc being laid looking from the Makro end coming into Peel Green.

Fair point, but it would have been guaranteed big games had it been 15k.
Any chance of getting another team to use the stadium? FC United or Man United reserves would be daft to turn it down surely?
