| Quote ="Diavolo Rosso"I'd definitely check that slogan with someone at the club, as there are plenty of sensitive souls about (apparently) who might find something like that offensive.
I always fancied doing a banner that said "LES DIABLES ROUGES S'ELEVANT" (The Red Devils are rising ... may be slightly off, anyone with better French is welcome to correct it).'"
This why the entire world should speak England like what we does.
Here's the reply and it just opens a can of worms.
Quote You want to say that they are gaining force, that they are getting better and stronger?'"
Is there an answer to that?

| Just had another reply.
Quote Have been thinking about it and for me the best slogan - in case you do want to express what I wrote in the previous message - would be : "Les Diables Rouges gagnent du terrain" which means that they have gained strength (force) and became (a) more important (team that deserves respect and consideration now). They are climbing the ladder of success... What do you think'"
Sounds good to me.

| Banner sounds a good idea but I'd be more inclined to go with something basic like Les Diables Rouges/Dirty Old Town/Salford RLFC.
I'd leave all the 'welcome to hell' stuff to the club as it's more of a branding thing, it's really got very little to do with Salford RLFC or the fans. On a practical level, it'd be embarrassing if we're getting slammed by someone or if the ground has got 15 people in for a cup tie versus Hunslet. All the Latin/French stuff is a bit poncified for me.
Either way, good luck with getting it started and past the politburo at the stadium. As someone else mentioned banners can be a nightmare to put up every week as well.

| While it has been mentioned, can we lose the links to "Dirty old Town" when dealing with visiting fans...
the last verse doesn't do Salford proud:
"I'm going to make,
Me a good sharp axe;
Shining steel,
Tempered in,
the Fire.
I'll chop you down,
Like an old dead tree.
Dirty old town, ..."
And there's nobody more a fan of James/McColl than me.

| I don't have a problem printing a banner at my job and I'm more than happy to fund this myself; I just need someone to design it for me as my attempt is a bit rubbish.
Personally I think we need as many banners as possible for the start of the new season. If it gets picked-up on Sky's Super League coverage it could potentially entice more people to the ground to watch us.

Sorry fella, that's just merde. It also means "the red devils are making ground" which sounds like we're celebrating finally getting out of our own half!
Personally I'd go with "Les Diables Rouges se réveillent", meaning "the red devils awaken". Or stick with something in English.

| I am so old that my Latin lessons were in the middle of the last century, but some of the Welcome to Hell translations feel wrong. There was no Latin word for "Welcome" as it comes fro the German and the Romans had other phrases. Bene venitus seems too welcoming and circumspice (Look around at) may annoy the City of Salford.
If you want a real Latin phrase, why not "Oderint dum metuant".
MR could use it for his friends in Swinton.
When we play Wigan, Leeds, Saints and Warrington, we could use "Praeteritum tuum, sed futurum meum".
Duabus selus sedeo.

| For something the South Stand [imassif[/i could really identify with, how about "Wankius Wankius Warringtonum"?
Or maybe just "Les Diables Rouges".

| Whats with all the latin/french suggestions? I suggest we keep it as basic as possible, what has worked previously and can we not just improve upon on that.
I like the 'Welcome To Hell' suggestions but we need to make sure the South Stand actually create some form of atmosphere, rather than a couple of hundred people in there making no noise at all. Any chance on the stadium company allowing us to use flares?

| Aside from all the hell ideas. Thinking about music bands round the area the line 'the past was yours but the futures mine' could fit Koukash perfectly. I could give a go at trying to get a few designs up on photoshop..

I can't see it being a problem the Stadium Management Company has no right to stop people wearing whatever trousers they want.
Is this flares thing a tribute to the 70's Salford team?

| I do think there needs to be a decision made on one song to come out too and stick to it for the season, drop the viking thing as that ship (pun intended) has sailed.
I'd go for Cochise by Audioslave, builds up to a very loud high tempo song and would kind of fit the new image, also if Real XS are still involved they would I'm sure love that angle.

Just curious about the Salford Reds Arising song. With the new shirt being Red and Black are the lyrics changing to Red and Black or staying Red and White?
I've had a go at making up a new song based on Charlie Daniel's - The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
Chorus:
Fire up the Salford, sing boys, sing.
There’s devil's in the ground of the Barton' sun.
Kick it in the ingoal, go go go.
"Marwan, does your team lose?"
"No, child, no."

| What about "Nil Illigitimus Desperandum"
I think the club should do the welcome to hell stuff rather than us.
People asking what's with the french stuff need to look into our history. The Red Devils tag was given to us by the french in 1934. Marwan has reinvented that and we as fans should embrace both the past and the future. KOTS banner says it all for me.
As for the putting up and taking down, don't Wigan have to do the same thing along the top of their stand for the Warriors and Latics?
