| Quote ="Ordsall Quays Red"Do you honestly think he would just sell up to anyone and walk away without it being financially beneficial to himself? That's incredibly naive. And given the outlay he's made during his time in charge then he is probably entitled to ask for some form of return on his investment, though as almost everyone knows you don't take on a sporting venture to make money.
As other's have said, someone took on Wakefield despite their troubles so why wouldn't anyone be interested in buying us? You can't just say that "nobody is ever coming forward" without knowing exactly what he's asking for to relinquish control. There may have been plenty of people interested until they hear what he wants.'"
I think - at the moment - he would do a BIG deal with anybody interested in taking over. It wasnt `incredibly naive` but with Businesses everywhere in parlous states there are many `clever` arrangements available. Step forward Wardley, Lance & Yourself if you like. Wakefield by the way were bought without the long standing debt.

| I thought that Matt Parish was a good choice of coach when we signed him, that was however until his first Forever Reds meeting when in my opinion he singled out certain players " As ones that he would not of signed" this immediately set alarm bells ringing as far as I was concerned to have said this to a group of people he had never seen before.
Will we ever get to know why he left, some people have read Neil Barker and take it for granted that what he says must be true, even though in two different editions of the MEN this week he had him staying in one and he had resigning in the other.
Some people have gone back to the status quo IE Simms out, Tarry out, sack the board will these people still shake the Chairman's hand whenever they meet?or will the repeat what they publish on here? I doubt it.
Better still will they put up some big money into the club to rectify the shortcomings that they continually highlight, I think not.
Perhaps Matt Parish viewed the Turkey and couldn't understand how so much hatred and at some times rubbish is published about the club by some of it's so called supporters he decided that he didn't want any part of it,we will never know.
Perhaps he saw items such as the one saying loot the club shop, some may think it was funny, I don't.
Perhaps he has some personal problems as Barker intimates that he may have but why believe this story?
Perhaps he couldn't stand the thought of blue seats, now that was serious wasn't it.

| Honestly can't believe people are STILL sticking up for the club!!! We've just lost a coach that told us how unprofessional an outfit we are on the pitch (which we've known for years) also in the admin department! The club backed a has been in SM which totally undone all the hard work done by KR. MP came in said he wanted change and people to embrace the change and work with him! Ultimately this didn't happen; he felt very aggrieved and upped sticks! Now I'm not saying he was the best coach we've had but what I will say he took pride in his work and genuinely wanted the help the Salford cause. I for one am deeply upset he has gone and await the next coach to bows to Simms greatness. Every slogging Parish saying he hasn't got the dog's danglers for the job, should look at the real issues, love is definitely blind in some case on this website

| Of course Parrish didn't have the cojones for the job.
Easiest thing in the world is to come in,slam certain players and the management.
His heart wasn't in it.
One post from someone who says he knows him said he was an accident waiting to happen and that's how it felt from the start.
Do we really think that because he said the place wasn't up to standard that it gives him an out.
He was an unemployed Aussie with no previous record of achievement just spouting off

I would have said the easiest thing in the world would be to come in and see how badly the club is being run (in his eyes) but then just sit back and take the money and keep quiet about it all.
At least he's had the balls to raise issues that he saw fit as needing to be acted upon, not all of them needing money too apparently. Appears he has trodden on a few toes and they don't like that at all. Can't upset the cosy boys club in the boardroom though can we? How dare the outspoken aussie that they chose to hire actually be outspoken.

No GT there is a big difference between `criticising the Board` & `demanding they go`. I was referring to the latter. If they are to go then they have to be replaced. Criticism just needs correcting/opposing.

| Quote ="Lyrad Red"Might I add knowing Matt personaly, that Matt and the board could not agree on the idea's Matt had, or the radical changes he had in mind, changes that the club didnt agree on, nor could possibly back financially.
If you look at it this way: If Michael Meguire had come to Salford instead of going to Wigan, he too would probably have left at the same time if not earlier. Although he was pretty much unheard of and not established, had he wanted to do what he's been able to do at Wigan, then it's obvious he would have been head butting a brick wall.'"
So do we assume then that Salford do not have the financial capability to adhere to NRL standards? And if so, does that mean the next coach appointment will either be British or a long-time British-based Aussie?

| Whether you believe the board or parish are in the right or wrong. In the end it was the boards decision to hire him so if he was not fit. Then there is a partial level of responsibility for the board.

OK without criticism would Wilko be prepared to step down without a cash incentive for the benefit of the club?

| The honest truth might never be made 100% public but for certain I know that Parish didn't want to leave, he felt he had No choice after he asked the club for assurances on some fundamental issues that he felt were vital and the club refused to provide them.
One thing for sure is we'll never know what kind of job he would have job done.
I have personally found what has happened over the past day draining and my love for my club has never been lower, how fans as loyal as ourselves can be expected to remain loyal through this type of upheaval is beyond me, but you know what despite our better judgements most of us will do just that.

I think he would leave his loan in the Company as long as the next man had enough money to sustain projected losses for 3 years.

| All i need is Wilky to come out and say exactly what is going on,whats is plans for the future of our is,where he sees us in 3yrs time,of course we are struggling in every department its the only thing everybody seems to agree on.The pain the fans are going through is unfair, just tell us as it is ,maybe then all us fans can come together as 1 instead of the constant bickering we get on here,we all want the same thing, a thriving club that each and everyone of us are proud to say thats my team, thats my club, thats my Salford. When i read MM`s comments it really hit home how desperate things are becoming,i very very rarely agree with his comments, but when a guy like him posts a heart felt post like that then i am very very worried about the future of my club.

| Two things-------1st point, if Parish was such a good friend of Millward. How come he didnt give Parish the full s.p. on Salford before he accepted the job .Millward knows the British game well enough to have put his mate in the picture about SRLFC.
2nd point------- If it emerges within the next week or so that Parish gets a job in OZ, he will lose credibility over here. It will be so obviouse he has been tapped up and he was just looking for an excuse to jump ship....

Don't you think you are missing the point! Regardless of whether he was or was not tapped up, whether he knew about Salford or not, the board yet again got the appointment so badly wrong, unfortunately for the board Parish did not care too much about reputations & lifted the lid on the amateurish way our club is run! Parish lifted the lid on what most supporters have accepted for a long time.
I not sure if Parish would have made a difference, I not here to judge that but the board on its return made the statement we have got our man, how bloody wrong was that statement, yet again

| I can't be bothered looking up quotes, but John Wilkinson listed one of Matt Parish's qualities as, having done his homework on the club and our players. So, I don't buy this business that he was lied to. Not to say the board didn't bow smoke up his @rse. He, clearly, knew what the club was about and the strength of playing talent. Additionally, one of Parish's main tasks was to improve the supply line, of young players!
This smacks of, he didn't get his own way, and decided to take off.
I view the biggest worry of all as, what if Peel and the council have decided the club is becoming to big a risk and have decided to secure the safest possible method of protecting their investment.

The council still see Salford as lead user of ground.
