Wrong forum ! I think the bloke with that title has been involved with Wigan,the World club championship,Halifax,Featherstone and our newest friends Castleford.For a more parochial porky teller try Tricky Dicky Wright at Cas or the Kidds at Swinton.
Dunno why a Warrington follower should be interested in Whitehead at a time when there are so many Warrington players going off in all directions of the compass.
Anyway,Whitehead owed the Provident and did a midnight flit a speed reminiscent of that seen in the Castleford area.
Not best pleased with him as it caused a temporary delay in the recruitment of players promised and to be delivered by our club for our supporters.

It was a testical drop again from the club to announce an agreement that was not set in stone. We are at present a bottom 4 club and not a top 4 club that Elliot stated he wanted to play for. End of. Looking forward to August to see who we have signed though.

Let's get this in perspective and with some timing.
It was on the 6th June that the transfer request was made public [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/22795367HERE[/url and it would seem the request had been put in slightly earlier.
It was also,earlier,evening of Monday 3rd June,that Dr Koukash had informed supporters that progress was being made with regard to recruiting players for 2014 and some heavy hints were given out.
Nothing more was heard,but the usual experts were on the forums suggesting Salford would/could/should sign him if they had genuine 'top4' aspirations (and some money !)
Nearly a fortnight elapses and then [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-league/22973218This[/url which brought more allegations from our all-knowing followers from around the M62.
I think we should have learned our lesson after the 'binding contracts' of players prepared to participate in winding-up orders when it comes to someone reneging on a 5 yrs contract.
We only need a strong squad of so many players.The richest sports clubs in the world don't sign every available player.
We can see how good he is at the next home game;Whitehead and Bousquet should be sufficient to have a song created to a nice French tune.

With Catalan losing at home to Hull KR,and looking at their remaining fixtures,it is far from certain that Catalan will make the 8 this year.May have been stretching it slightly to suggest he has gone to a 'top 4' club.

Why are we making such a fuss over this - 15 pages!!!

The guy was playing for a side that had been a financial disaster that got rescued then in his opinion, some of the promise of that rescue wasn't materializing. He then hears that his current club have agreed a deal with another club who also were a financial basket case and have just been rescued but currently are shipping 50 odd points a game!

Does that sound an attractive proposition?

What worries me about this is surely if koucash has signed these 6-8 new players he would have told whitehead who they were,and either whitehead isn't interested or the players haven't signed or are not that good.

Apparently Whitehead wasnt interested in playing for Salford. He was banking on an offer from Catalans from the start.

Yes and Catalans DIDNT match the offer we put in transfer fees or wages, he's accepted to join Catalans for considerably less salary than he was offered by Salford. I admit I assumed he would sign because as everybody else thought nobody accepts less money to do the same job, and to everyones surprise even the guys on the sky panel he did.

Strikes me he's been true to his word - he said that he wished to go to a club that would be in with a good chance of being top 4, and presumably he meant in the very near future i.e. next season - he's made the assessment that Les Cats are more likely to do that next year than we are and gone with his instinct rather than just following the money (if what you say is right of course) - good luck to him, I hope he's wrong and our plans prove successful.

A lesson there for the Dr and Nobby - you have to do more than just talk the talk when selling the dream - roll on 9th August and let's hear just ho far we have actually come.

I'm not predicting anything I just get informed on a daily basis by someone who's involved in RL circles, but think its best to just stay quiet from now on.

Only my opinion but I think it could be a blessing in disguise Whitehead not coming to Salford...few Bulls fans reckon his tackling isn't the best and some guy I was speaking to reckons his stats back this up...Salford can't afford to carry anymore bad defenders ..got enough already ...especially with a fee involved too....lets see what transpires close season and put the money to better use
