SRD needs to be living within it's means, and the club is not....also, has the DR physically put millions into the club?

If the club was living within it's means I'd guess the club would only be spending about half the salary cap. For years we've had a Superleague team with a Championship fanbase.

What are the choices? Take a huge gamble on a more expensive squad in the hope numbers will eventually increase with better results or live within your means and hope to maintain the status quo? A combination of extra speculative spending and the added costs of playing at the new stadium is where things went wrong previously. It's not easy when the small success starved fanbase we have grows more disillusioned year on year. I think it's a great pity we had so many injuries and suspensions after the Wigan game because we were just starting to gain some momentum.

You've got to speculate to accumulate, better, if has the money, to buy world class players and winning every, or most games . That would bring the crowds in

Folks are saying that there is no way that SRD can be in a financial mess just because the Doc is reputed to be worth $900m+
The Docs worth and the finances at the club are 2 different things. The clubs finances are a mess, however, we do have the benefit of the Doc being able to plug a few gaps.
As for speculating to accumulate, I'm all for it but we have to remember that the club cannot afford it with our current position etc and that's just a fact, but saying that, we do need to be overspending correctly in recruitment to get the winning formula and it's not going to be easy.

Just watched the Tigers Rabbitohs game and Taupau was unstoppable (best hand off for years), I would be very surprised if we were in with even the most remote of sniffs of signing him.

He has the air of a Gallen in that he could play just about the full 80 in the front row.

Marty is a quality player. He'd surely want a high profile big club rather than a Salford should he choose to move to England.

Wrong he'd want to earn more coin just like any other decent Aussie or Kiwi that comes to Superleague. Let's face it for any top NRL players to join Wigan, Saints or any SL club must be considered a backward step in their playing careers.

Correct and your more Likely to pick up a decent Kiwi as they will still be picked for the Test team if they come over here, whereas Aussies will lose out on Test and Origin selection if they come over.
