| Quote ="MikeTommo" In relation to Mauro - he shown a few decent things and I honestly believe if he'd had a good pre-season he would have gone OK. '"
Trust me he wouldn't. I understand he has a physical disability that won't allow him to do that. No amount of will power or training could overcome his condition.

According to the MEN James, along with Gleeson and Broughton are definitely out.
McPherson has a chance of playing.
There's quotes from Noble in there so they didn't just get it off here.

| I never really like criticising players too much, but Mauro wasn't one of our better overseas imports to say the least - not the calibre of player we want to get where we want to be. Maybe he could've done a job with a proper preseason, and it has left us a bit short in the forwards given injuries and suspensions - but he's gone now, onwards and upwards

Yeah he scored a couple vs Swinton at the weekend, although he is more a 2nd row than prop.

Keith Mason on loan is the only answer ! That'll liven things up and give you another 'biff' to analyse

| Could we not bring in a couple of fringe props that aren't currently figuring for other clubs, for a couple of weeks?
Maybe Nobby could ask Tony Smith if he wouldn't mind releasing Mozza early from his contract? It would be worth a phone call just to wind him up.

| Lets stick in as many of the kids as we can, stuff bringing anyone in this is the perfect time for it before we get the new guys in next year. Liked the look of Tyson in the Cup and when Ive watched the U20's. Also why not give Davidson a go and bring back Jordan Walne. I'd also bring Ford back as cover for the outside backs. Don't mind losing if the young lads are getting game time.

doubt it, will be long odds on for the win.... might double your money on the handicap if we beat what the bookies give us

I think he did,but obviously the club is slow on making announcements.
He has been the longest serving player in Super League signed from overseas but because he hasn't been at one club I think it means he is not entitled to any testimonial.
We do not seem to look after our players in this sport;even those who cause their coaches no problem,no discipline problems on or off the field, and sometimes achieve a little success while playing the game.

He may have been at Huddersfield and Bradford but he has been very very average for us.

| I believe chris Nero is back in oz. reading his twitter account he said that he has had to call it a day with his neck injury. He was tweeting Luke Patton and was meeting up with him for coffee.

| So is Sa'u now the only player we have signed for next season who counts towards the quota?
McPherson has dispensation.
Melissa & Puletua don't count due to the length of time they have played in SL.
Can't think of anyone else.
Though that said isn't there a kid in youth set up from the Soyth Sea Islands, would he count on any quota space if I've not just dreamt that?.

Someone said something about us not having special dispensation for McPherson after he signed a new contract. Not too sure on that.
Meli is exempt but Puletua does count towards it, so we have space for 2 or 3 more, depending on McPherson's status.

I'd only have kept him if he didn't count towards a space, good player when fit but the sad fact is he's a crock who you can only see getting injured more with Nobles forward based game plans.

| My understanding of the original dispensation given to the Crusaders boys was that it was only for the length of their original contract. Any further contract would then mean they have to be regarded as Quota/overseas players.
Which makes sense really as they would have been classifed as overseas players if they were still playing at Crusaders. The dispensation was only put in place so they could get signed up after Crusaders went bump.
I like McPherson but to use an overseas/quota spot on a player who's constantly injured doesn't make much sense to me.

McPherson agreed a one-year extension to his existing contract.( 2015 ) . next season ( 2014 ) is still on his original contract.
S'au is Samoan ,so qualifies under Kolpac aggreement ( classed as EU ) so doesn't count as a quoata spot , but does count as a Non Fed spot which is still limited to 5

Seem to remember he looked a decent prospect when he made his debut (against Hull KR when Mason played IIRC). He's a big old unit but not heard much about him since so I'm guessing he's not improved that much in the last couple of years?
Looks like another of our old "prospects" is in need of a new employer......
