Of course. But what about the layman who is more exposed to football, as we all are whether we like it or not; how do they justify £20 to watch a sport that has no public notoriety nor any famous players apart from Robbie Paul? I'm looking at this from the angle that some people do not attend sporting events for the sporting event, if you know what I'm saying.
But I digress...

Your right Chico!
I have no doubt it's much easier said than done but Salford need to really target families that enjoy watching sport in the flesh but can't afford to take the whole family on a regular basis to watch United/City. The difficulty is obviously attracting these people without star players, a top quality winning team, an impressive stadium and a big crowd atmosphere.

think you will all find that you will be better off with the deal that is on offer.
As quoted, it is aimed at getting more families into the fan base, but singles will no worse off. if you pay per game it is, 13 home games at £18 per game = £234 + shirt £40=£274 add "magic w/end" cost will be over ££300, so massive saving there.'"
Not a massive saving as you could just get a membership for £50 then pay £12 per game which is £206, compared to the ST price of £180. So you are saving a whopping £26.
The offer actually suits me though as I'll get the membership for me and my brother. I'll get a ST and he will use his membership to get the cheap £12 tickets as he can't make every game.
Quote ="Iain"but I'm concerned at the effect that the £18 match day admission will have. My girlfriend hardly went to a game last season because she thought £17 was steep, the same with workmates who'd been the season before. With a matchday price of £18 the club will surely have to run a load of offers to attract casual or first time punters along, and these offers will no doubt end up putting noses out of season ticket holders again and if it's like last season, the offers will be sent to season ticket holders anyway.
'"
Get your girlfriend on your membership. She gets £12 tickets so might be tempted to go to more games, and you get the season ticket for £155 instead of £180.
The £18 price is once again a joke however if people can pair up on the membership they will only pay £25 each and then save £6 per game so will have made their money back after just 4 games.
For those comapring to football. Blackburn charge £199 for adults and this is for a 19 game season. Bolton charge £249 and £49 for kids, again for 19 games.

| Quote ="Chico"I wonder how many season ticket holders wear their shirts? And go to the Magic weekend? (N.B. I got my Magic ticket for £2 — filthy student rates.)'"
I didn't go to the magic weekend last year as it would have cost too much for the whole family to go. Only I would have got the discount and my husband and the two under 5's would've had to pay full price. With this offer that the club is footing the bill for (the RFL are not going to subsidise this are they?) we will probably all go.
And I wore my shirt and a kind Auntie got hers in my lads size so he could have one (too young to have a season ticket last year).
The problem the club have is that there is no way of pleasing everybody all the time. Inevitably there are always times when offers are not going to benefit everyone. The club have been criticised for not doing enough for families and kids. Now it appears they have listened and the single blokes aren't happy. The crux of the matter is that £180 is an excellent price for what you get and I do believe they are making a concerted effort to increase numbers by encouraging family members to come along with the die hards. Only time will tell.

| The main problem with this offer is the fact that the club have called it a family membership. There should be individual prices for adults/kids rather than grouping everyone under the family banner. How many cars do you see driving down Weaste Lane with the 'perfect' family of 2 adults/2 kids all wearing their free away shirt? Not many. Individual pricing for the membership would give people more flexibility. If for example 3 adults who attend games together want to take up this membership they have to take out 2 family memberships at £50 each. Why?

It is true that they aren't the target audience anymore but they really still should be, they are the core people who are gonna commit to following something through thick and thin. Look at Manchester Storm, they focused solely on the family audience and while experiencing some high crowds at the start once the novelty wore off they went tits up. Obviously do as much as you can to attract families but the hardcore will always fall into that 16-40+ age bracket.

looks like the Stalinists have arrived. The clunking fists of the shed.
My point is that it makes no difference if the club has offered to pay supporters to attend and if they gave away butties and beer, someone would find fault. So far we have had every reason not to attend from selling our best player (sic) to young single persons being discriminated against "including grannies being subsidised
).
Compare Sale Sharks - season tickets range from "value" at £199 to "Platinum" at £700. I will compare to the round ball game as they charge fantastic prices with little promise of as much excitement as at any Rugby game. OK Rochdale FC charges less - but the club is teetering on the edge of ruin as they cannot attract the fans. Hardly SUPER League.
We also have the sponsors reducing their financial support. Yet we expect improvement - players and games cost money. Like any business, prices go up.
Whatever the club do, too many see it in negative ways; that's not criticism but whingeing.'"
You really don't grasp the argument being put forward, do you? Do me a favour, read, re-read and re-read again what many of us have put. It's not whingeing, not at all. Why do you have to accuse anyone who doesn't toe the party line of this?
It's good to see the club making an effort and I applaud them for that, I truly do, but it could have been implemented a hell of a lot better than it has been.

Now that you've seen the point I was making originally you're bob on. That's the main issue people have with this. Although, with needing a kid on the membership, you'd have to find one from somewhere to get on. Looks like you'll have to put your mum on the form as well!

| I appreciate that year-on-year comparisons may make loyal fans that attend on their own feel hard done to but, even at £180, the season ticket is equivalent to the cost of 10 games.
If you are a die-hard, week-in week-out fan then you're getting 4 matches free plus the Magic Weekend, plus a shirt.
It's not a bad deal at all IMHO and certainly offers good value for money to anyone that attends regularly when compared to 'on the day' prices (which is the whole point of season tickets as far as I'm concerned).

| Here's a radical idea. Why don't the club say there aren't any season tickets just come down and pay on the day! The price is £18 for everyone including kids, OAP's and students. No early bird offers, no free shirts, no free cup games and no free trip to chilly Jocko Land.
"STUFF THE LOT OF YOU!"
There everyone treated equally and the death of the club is nigh. People weren't happy last year they try something new, surprise surprise... people aren't happy. give it a Fooking rest!
Some of you want the club to give you your tickets for nowt and then complain when they don't sign anyone or take 200K for a jumped up little 5h*te who might turn out to be a flop after his first season. FFS where's the money going to come from?
Bored of this thread now as you are all going round in circles. That's the offer, take it or leave it! As someone once said you can only please some of the people some of the time!!!!!!

Point. Missed. Spectacularly. Well done.
Chrismum, cheers for that. It's just a shame that the club didn't make that clear in the original fanfare. It would've saved ten pages of debate!

| On the contrary GT I think I've hit it bang on. All those on here saying it is a bad deal are those who can only see a £20 increase and the fact that families are appearing to get a better deal than them as an individual. They seem to have ignored the things that the club has given them and focussed in on the why are they getting more than me aspect of it. So I don't think I have missed the point at all.

No offence mate but season tickets aren't really aimed at occasional supporters who pick and choose their games so, regardless of the package offered, it probably wasn't going to be a great deal for you anyway.

School boy error introducing your better half this season?!
My missus' first game was the 100-12 defeat of Gateshead. She then began to watch regularly when we were in NL1 and blowing teams away week-in, week-out.
By the time we were back in SL, playing badly and getting battered she was hooked!

To be honest, the match ticket at about £6 last year was probably the cheapest part of the whole weekend - less than a pint and a half in most of Edinburgh.

She'd been earlier, but found last year boring and who can argue? It wasn't the defeats, it was the manner of many of them and our style of play. She received free/cheap offer email for most games later in the season but having paid £17 for stuff like the Quins game and the Wigan game just didn't want to watch more of it.

| Wow only just caught up with the latest offerings via this forum. I had decided during the season that I wasn't going to renew this year after the well documented goings on at the club, but any last minute change of heart is no more.
I have two brand new shirts in the wardrobe.
I have no desire to go to millenium tragic, and last year I offered via this forum my carnegie ticket to Hull (I had no takers).
The thing that really pi**ed me off was the continual offers to the floating fan of £10/£5 entrance fees, after the likes of most of us pay up front year on year. (I used to applaud this but I didn't think that offering reduced prices for WIGAN was what it was all about.) Not to mention the Cas fan who came on here after buying his ticket up front who said he was offered vouchers outside the ground from people who had been emailed with offers.
No doubt I will still attend all thirteen games but maybe I'll be the lucky receipient of such attractive offers.
Maybe the signing of Jonathan Thurston could change my mind..
