| That display again shows were up there with the top teams and once we gain that experience as a team we'll come on top of these games.
just hope Ian and Tim keep the lads heads up and momentum going after two very close defeats on the bounce.
I disagree about the discipline, Tompkins penalty for swearing at the ref when we have the ball is inexcusable.
Then in the driving seat at 30-12 Murdoch Masila getting involved and Carneys brain fart was the turning point.
We cannot keep giving such leads away and letting teams back into, we got away with it against Widnes but should've had the win sown up last night with 10minutes to go.
Another point there's no one more than me who wants to see Niall in the starting 17, as we know what he's capable of.
But in these games playing against big mobile packs can we afford to keep shoe horning him and Tompkins into the side.
The forwards looked dead on their feet in the last twenty and having that extra interchange would've helped that.
Unfortunately with Jones playing in the pack we don't have the luxury of bringing Niall on and moving someone from the back line, just my thoughts.

| I thought as much as the ill discipline our right edge defence looked pretty poor at times, there was certain times last night it was like we were watching Salford circa 2013, standing off and waiting for the attacker to build up a head of steam at the line.
I'm amazed that it's not been mentioned before but it's pretty clear to me we are playing GOB at the back as an extra pivot as our hookers are just tacklers, if we had one who was more creative we would have that extra pivot in a position where a pivot can create mayhem.

| I agree with all the comments made, discipline let us down but lets put the game into perspective, this is the best looking entertaining Salford side I have watched in years, one I am happy to pay to watch. We have structure, options & pace, lets concentrate on the good instead of focusing on the negatives, Warrington are my tip & we ran them close, robbed in the Wigan game all could have been so different.
I was gutted last night & could not sleep but I was proud of everyone of our players who were dead on their feet at the end having given there all.

Yeah I'm with you on this one. It's very easy to just look at the negatives after losing a match. This is the best Salford team I've watched in many years and there's a long way to go in the season yet. We're certainly not going to be treading water at the bottom of the league come the split.

| I concur redgunner, it's easy to be despondent when we lost the game in the way we did but there are far more positives and this should be embraced going forward.
We will only improve and with the addition of a couple of key players we will be a very difficult team to beat.

| As a Wire fan I have to say I think you look impressive, and playing like a team for the first time in an age. Genuinely think you are building for the future on very solid foundations. Good to see GoB go well, I always had a soft spot for him.

Fwiw the pen count at ht was 6-4 Salford I think, ft 12-10 Salford.

| It's tough to take that loss after being in such a strong position, but if this was the same team as last season Warrington would have been out of sight before half time. Plenty of positives to take from that performance despite the loss.
We've been unlucky to lose 2 out of 3 games and the league table doesn't reflect how well we've played. With Hauraki and Vidot due back this team is heading in the right direction.

| The best I've seen from Salford in a very long time and we certainly got out of jail. All in all I think a draw would have been fair, and that is what you would have got if (I think it was) Evalds had caught Sandows missed penalty with less than a minute to go rather than tamely watching it go out meaning we got the ball back.
As for discipline, I think Hicks was as much to blame as any of the players with some baffling decisions. If ruffling an opposition players hair is worthy of a yellow card then we may as well all give up and go home!

| I think you guys were really unlucky last night and on the end of some very harsh penalties. What really frustrated me being a neutral for this one was the fact that you had two drop goal attempts, and especially on the second one (I think) Warrington were a mile offside! They then march down the field and they get a penalty for Dobson being offside. Fair enough he missed the conversion but had you been given the penalty at their end, then I am sure you would of nailed the Penalty and come away with two points.

| The drop goal attempts from Dobson and Lui were ridiculous. Granted, the weather conditions weren't ideal but Sandow managed a pearler from 40m out. We should have nailed at least one of them.

| Gutted. Couldn't sleep. Felt really sorry for the players.
To get so close to the top 2 teams in consecutive weeks shows what strides have been made.
A really entertaining game.
Each of the last 3 matches has been a game of two halves.
When we play for the 80 every match we'll know we've arrived.
A big thank you to the players and everybody. A team really worth supporting

| I wondered if more of an effort could've been made to keep the ball in play after the missed Sandow penalty. The two players in goal had plenty of time to track the line of the ball, or are they not allowed to move?
That said, was a good performance from Salford and they didn't deserve to lose.

| quick question, i know its early in the season, but whats the thoughts on masilla's cardio, he's a big bloke, probably uses a lot of energy in attack, and i'm pretty sure he wasn't subbed last night, is he likely a target for opposing teams when it gets warmer?

Definitely the post of a magnanimous loser. When all else fails blame the ref.

But we'll conveniently miss that the attempted block of Sandow's successful drop goal came from one of the three markers at the play the ball.

| Poor discipline, but game management was to blame to me. Those 2 rushed drop goals, first one there was still plenty of time to go. Just play out the set, get a decent kick in, try to get repeat set.
Going for goal at 28-12 when we were still on top, easy with hindsight but I thought should keep going for the try.
Could see wire getting on a roll, and they did.
Gutted, absolutely hurt like hell. Positives there to be seen, but I just worry we have 2 tough away games, we MUST win at least one of those now.

| People saying a draw was a fair result.
Me being an honest chap thought that even a draw wasn't a fair result, Salford were by far the better team on the night.
What happened is, (i agree witht the topic) ill discipline.
Hicks was consistently poor last night, i can take that a little because he didn't really favour any side.
I 'get' why he binned Currie, he was nipping it in the bud before it got worse and in hindsight it makes sense, the incident itself was soft but the context behind it was spot on. Carney was an idiot, that drew in other players to the mêlée.
Murdoch-Masila was drawn in too, he was obviously picked out as the key man and was niggled in almost if not all the plays he was involved in.
Salford were cruising and composed until then, then you lost it mentally.
Should have battered us but beat yourself.
A draw wasn't a fair result, a win for us certainly wasn't, that was a smash and grab at its finest for us.
Unlucky guys, love your new side, very good balance throughout and playing GOB at fb is a masterstroke, it gives him time on the ball which he needs, his kicking game was fantastic last night and he should have been your go to man for the 1 pointer.
Hope the Doc fights the SC issue that came out today too, he has a passion for this sport and is trying his best at a considerable personal cost to move it forward.
Good luck guys, love the new attitude and your playing style is very easy on the eye too.

| Poor defence from both teams.Salford had the chance to close the game out with a healthy lead but didn't. Still it's a big difference from last year, all you can ask is your team competes the whole game and Salford did just that.

| Main problems for me last night was once again putting a back on the bench. Jordan Walne got injured and didn't play second half meaning we only had 1 interchange forward on the bench. In tough conditions like that it would take it out of any pack and it did. The pack looked knackered at the end and Warrington got on a roll.
What time did Evalds come on the pitch, 70th min? then what a complete waste of a bench spot!! Surely 3 forwards and a hooker would have made more sense last night.
I know Tim Sheens has forgot more about rugby than I know, but this one really confounds me and seems to have cost us the game.

| One thing tonight demonstrated clearly was the need for another big prop, Sims and hill were immense imo along with Dodds. Our props just aren't big enough imo. The sooner we find another one the better (if we can). Just my view. Oh and I thought the ref was crap.

| I thought our pack held there own, we were just short on numbers for replacements.
Think wiser pack management is key.
Have to admit though I though Chris Hill was immense.
Ref wasn't that bad and seemed to get most decisions right. He blew a fair bit, but then its down to the playing staff to listen and learn from what he is telling them instead of keep doing it.
