If the answer to that isn't obvious then you really are just a simple minded creature.
Quote ="Shark J"Bit sad to see all this hostility so early on. I know I'm doing myself no favours here by posting but it is a shame.
As for the person who's rolling their eyes at us coaching at schools in Salford - you really can't win there, can you?
If 5 years down the line we did nothing in the eyes of Salford fans we'd be accused of playing in the ground, trying to take your fans and doing nothing for the area.
If we're trying to get active in the area, then we'll be accused of trying to brainwash your kids into becoming Union fans.
One of the things we got slated for at Edgeley Park was apparently putting no investment into the stadium or trying to get the locals involved.'"
Nonsense. If you haven't noticed, Salford fans don't want to share the stadium we put so much effort into with anyone, yet alone a Union club. We'd be quite happy for you to stick to Sale and Cheshire for your community work.
As for "apparently" putting no investment into Edgeley Park, ha. There's a reason the ground's gone to rack and ruin.

| GT...Please explain where you get that your club put much time and effort into getting that stadium.
Fact is your club failed and the stadium was only built when a joint venture between Salford Council and Peel Holdings came to the rescue.
At that point Salford City Reds lost all rights to dictate anything about how the ground is used nor for that matter who uses it.
Indeed Sale have done Salford a big favour in coming to play there since it has allowed your club a sizeable rent reduction, perhaps therefore a little more cordiallity wouldn't go a miss.

I agree on the last sentence, but are you taking the p*ss with the rest? You obviously missed everything that went on prior to RCD going belly up.
Quote ="Marshy1"Indeed Sale have done Salford a big favour in coming to play there since it has allowed your club a sizeable rent reduction'"
That's hardly Sale doing us a favour, any other side coming in would have been a good case for us getting our rent reduced. I believe there were also a lot of people on the sidelines fighting our corner in order for a rental reduction to be agreed, even after Sale came in.
Quote ="Marshy1"perhaps therefore a little more cordiallity wouldn't go a miss.'"
Not a chance. Anyway, I was trawling for info on Agecroft the other day after reading about the recent meeting on Twitter. Looking through threads on Swinton's TotalRL forum I came across this nugget from yourself on a thread about us playing at the LSV:
Quote Fantastic news. just confirms who is the puppet master now down at the City of Salford Stadium.'"
No wonder you want "cordiallity" towards Sale seeing as you enjoyed seeing us get shafted over that episode.

Wouldnt worry too much Karlos. We've got plenty of little porkers in our schools who'll be in perfect condition to walk straight into any Union.team! The athletic schoolkids will continue to play football & RL.

The only reason you are 'getting involved' in Salford is to ensure you stay in the councils good books in regards to future priority use of stadium. Sale are now aiming to be a north west super club meaning you have the whole north west are to 'get involved' in schools etc, whereas our main catchment area is mainly Salford/Manchester. Would have more time for Sale if they stuck to coaching the Cheshire parrotheads rugger leaving the Salford area to us.

| Bottom of the league playing even more boring rugby than the standard RU fare.
Do you honestly think the people of Salford will turn up to watch that ?

Your above critisism resembles the same reasons we have been witnessing for decades at Salford. So you're quite right, the people of Salford won't turn up for Sale matches.
Well at least they're getting off their backsides and marketing their product unlike us.

| lost again, I feel ashamed that we are linked with such a bunch of losers, they are giving Salford a bad name, hopefully people reading the BBC site won't realise that they don't play in Stockport anymore. Perhaps Sale's poor play is all about solving the traffic congestion problem?

| Still managed to pull in over 8000 though according to the BBC website. That said, we all know about the different attendances being announced.

| I went to the Sale game tonight with some free tickets from my daughters school... There was a good crowd on there and I actually thought it looked more the 8,000 announced.... The tickets we had were in the west stand... in block W02... which is about level with the 10 yard line... and were priced at £33 each. How people can pay that much and more to watch that is seriously beyond me. I've never been so frustrated in all my life... and the thing is... when I'm throwing my arms up in the air at yet another pointless kick... they actually think it's a good thing... and there was even a sin binning for a knock on... and they think that's right and fair. A very odd sport.

| I stumbled across the match on Sky last night. I'd agree that there were a good 8000 in attendance, though why they pay to watch that sport is beyond me. In the few minutes I watched I saw numerous knock ons missed, too many blokes the wrong side of 20 stone and one point I think the ball may have emerged from under a pile of bodies. And don't get me started on the number of penalties. Well done Loyal Fan, you deserve a medal for endurance...

| Keeping up an impressive one try per game average. Would it be un-neighbourly for Salford to base their new season marketing activity (stop laughing) around the theme of seeing proper rugby entertainment in Salford.

I would imagine "sponsor a try" wouldn't raise very much at Sale
Salford's new strapline "See more tries in a match than a Sale season"

| I watched about 10 minutes and then my eyes started to bleed
At one stage in the game there were 16 phases and they had moved about 5 metres.
OUR ground however looked very good on telly with the East stand full.
There were around 8K there looking from the TV but my son who works in the ticket office said the scanners had it as 6K

A question to which the answer is difficult to find but could be very powerful in marketing terms.
My guess is it's cultural. That crowd will be mostly male, employed, lower-middle class, who have been involved with RU all their lives at clubs, university etc. They go because they can watch the highest (bar international) standard of the game fairly locally but above all its a social thing. There's just a rugby-union 'type' of person isn't there and not many top-level clubs around up here for them to follow.

Really, anybody who as supported Salford in the past would be interested, why would any youngster from Sale Alrincham or even our own city be interested in a club like ours,it as nothing to offer.Miles out of the heart of the city,an unatmospheric concrete smelly craphole that produces performances off the field that stinks like the farm close by.Don`t look at it now look in 5 10 years time, what Salford kids are going to be attracted to that dump to support this team. Its a complete and utter balls up created by MR Salford and mugs like you and me for letting it happen.

I dated someone from Sale once who's sister often took her kids to the Willows and know that other youngsters from the school attended games so there is obviously interest in that area. I've often thought that if someone looked at Wythenshaw there would be interest, it's not the wealthiest area so a cheaper friendlier alternative to football might appeal.
