| You'd take the word of the police over the protesters? You've not had many dealings with them, then, particularly the GMP. They'll do anything to put protests down, ask anyone involved in the anti-Glazer protests.
As for the rest of your badly made point, you've now realised there's no charge for anyone on a non-match day. As strange as that may seem (to some, anyway) it doesn't back up the idea that people are getting special dispensation to park there. So this whole thread, beyond the OP being told the price of Salford match day parking, has been a waste of time based on inaccuracies.
Par for the course on here, I suppose.

You don't think there's the *tiniest* possibility that the chief constable of the GMP might be trying to deflect away the bad press the GMP is getting due to a video of a GMP officer clearly trying to stitch up a member of the public? Really?

| I'd believe a police officer over protestor yes.
My point being there are two sides too this.
Would the person in question if he won donate the money to help cover the costs incurred by the policing of illegal practices such as those being commited by the protestors.
Read somewhere earlier there have been 16 complaints (5/6 from one individual alone) hardly strong arm tactics if you ask me.

Someone who prides himself on his dishonesty,to the detriment of working class people, uses a link from a 'Class Warfare' heading on a website.
I detect a certain level of irony.
Perhaps you can judge people,or a police service,by the quality of the(ir) enemy/ies.
Even the women at Greenham Common didn't whinge as much as 'men' at this protest.
They didn't change anything either.
I don't mind an exchange of views but the thread is about Car Parking Charges.

It must be nice living in such a black and white bubble. You've clearly never dealt with GMP much, neither. They're known for being untrustworthy. To put IR politely.

Well obviously as I say both sides have a point yes it must be nice living here.
Earlier in all this you mentioned the police and anti Glazer supporters, would these be the whiter than white anti Glazer types who openly threatened my American ex wife on the tram because she was in their words one of them Americans?.
I have had dealings with the police and in the main they have upmost respect for doing a very hard job under challenging circumstances. If you get hom next Sunday and GT towers has been violated will you forgo contact8ng the Police out of mistrust? I take it you'll be popping up the Bat Signal for that numpty who runs around in Swinton in his undies playing at being a vigilante?
As I say there are pros and cons to both arguments, though it is without a shadow of a doubt the protestors who are habitually breaking the law, though I might have missed the new law allowing you to chain your neck to a window frame, glue yourself to the floor or to prevent people in gainful employment doing what they are paid too do.

Though as the venerable Sherlocks on here have pointed out I don't drive on game day (and would get free parking due to my gym membership) but can't see a 25% levy on match tickets to park is going to entice people along.
Bite the bullet and put on a free park and ride from the Trafford Centre over flow car park until the new road opens next season.

| Park and ride from west one would be much better as I would think a majority of fans come from that direction and less busy than Trafford centre..

I thought the MEN was a comic that can't be trusted? Seems odd therefore you'd quote one of their stories as reliable.

As odd as you reading my posts really, isn't it a strange old world.
Would you like me to change the source of my quote, or would that be hard to read wirh your head constantly deviating between being firmly up your and buried deep in the sand?.

| As I'm actually interested in the transport issues and the massive baring on how they will effect things next weekend and throughout the season is there any news on how last night went?

| Anyone got any previous quotes from MR regarding the MEN? Gotta be some good uns.
Apparently the traffic light system at the roundabout is now working well after the initial chaos.

| Looking like a bit of a pain getting to the ground on Sunday, no trains to Patricroft, trains from town to Eccles replaced by a bus service. Thankfully there's the Metrolink which is only 45 minutes from town and drops you 2 miles away!

| Iam thinking about using Barton airport for parking this season, or at least till things sorted out at the ground.
Couple of questions,
1. How much ???? does anybody know ???? and can you book in advance, if so has anybody got a contact number please.
2. Whats the best time to get there??? was thinking maybe 1.30 for the first match, or would that be a little bit too late????
thanks in advance for the info.

| It was £5 last season , not seen anything to say otherwise for this year . From past experience your arrival time wold be fine .The only sticking point is the new traffic lights on Peel Green roundabout which at the moment can cause chaos at any given moment .

Is that the case? not been able to attend the gym since they have been turned on and am curious as to what impact they have.
Not seen any feedback from the Sale game on Friday regards them either.

In my opinion the new traffic signals at the Peel Green roundabout are a vast improvement compared with the previous system.
Admittedly I have only used them on an evening at 16.30 going towards and past the stadium and at 19.30 coming back towards the Peel Green roundabout but it is much safer and you have a better chance of negotiating the roundabout than before and it must be also safer for pedestrians who are trying to get around the area to the stadium.
Once people get used to the traffic lights things will improve even more.
I would park at Eccles ARLFC rather than the Airport though.

| Don't have a problem with the lights Things have settled down somewhat since the lights were switched on but apparently the technology that runs them predicts traffic flow for example they know what`s going on in the rush hour. and act accordingly . The match day traffic may or may not be a shock to the lights system . No doubt we will find out on Sunday.
