| Take with a pinch of salt because it's in the M.E.N but apparently we are closing in on centre Blake Ayshford and also looking at S/O Robert Lui and Mark Flanagan from Saints.

| Yes doesn't look good for Chase, but this Lui character seems to have a bit of a troubled past thought we'd be steering away from that.
Such a shame we can't keep Taylor the man has been colossus for us this season, a true professional and a credit to himself.

I'd be tempted to see if Hull would swap Taylor for Chase, agree though he for me has been the best forward by a mile, every effort should be made too sort out what the issue is with Patterson also. I wouldn't be overly bothered if HH went, good player but no better than plenty of other players we could replace him with who would earn much less.

| In a playing sense I agree but if players like HH,who's been no trouble at any time during his long career, feel the need to move on then it's a sad state of affairs.
It could be that MK is looking to move him on,I suppose, but it'd be a shame.
Or maybe none of its true and he'll stay !

Other than the Barker's guessing where have you heard that. Not implying that you are wrong, just interested to know, because it seems highly unlikely Dobson, Chase and Lui will all be playing for Salford next season.
Could be another major overhaul next season, but hopefully we can keep some of our better players on the books and add a little quality, mainly Paterson. Like most I would really like to see a couple of quality props added to the squad and Ayshford looks a quality player.

| If Chase is going that would appear to be the last of the larger than life characters gone, Sheens now to bring in people who have a team ethic who are solid grafters.

| Agreed.
The biggest signing would be Sheens himself.
If the Australian national coach can't sort this mess out................

I'm not connected at the club, but wanted to know if there was something more solid than Barker's rambling. Chase may well be on his way out or just as easy Lui isn't coming to Salford, then there is the distinct possibility Dobson's body isn't able to do another season.
Thanks for the advice though.

| Ok,a bit harsh. Apologies.
Chase's situation follows a clear trend.
Whatever the rights and wrongs of his French holiday, the trend is clearly that the big earners,as a group, are seen to have failed to produce the required success for the master plan.
So,it's Plan B. No,I don't know,either.
As regards Lui,no idea. I know I'll be hammered for saying this but Barker is right more often than not.

Being a poor journalist doesn't make Barker wrong.
From what I've seen of Ayshford and Lui, if they are signed together then it's possible the duo could bring more to the team than just chase trying too hard to do it all himself. Not that I dislike Chase as a player. That said, the players still aren't a team and something needs to be done about that problem.
When you look at smaller clubs who have seen some success, ie. Cas and hudds, they haven't gone out and bought the big names, rather it's been a steady building process. What we needed when koukash took over was a team of players hungry to work for each other, like 2006. I think Taylor was the perfect example and like others I'd rather we kept him, but it isn't to be.

Still, whatever happens, I would like (no, demand) Chase in the teams playing away at Widnes and t'Robins.

Would be an amazing signing but I think there will be other Clubs knocking on the door before us. Who knows? If Sheens stays on I reckon his pull with NRL players would be quite strong. Would be incredibly happy if we got him though...

Would he complement the one that Mario, sorry Neil Barker is tipping us to be considering in today's MEN the Warrington captain Michael Monaghan?

Oh come on, let's ignore every lesson from the Kevin Locke saga and recruit another crock?
Direct quote from the article "Stewart has missed large chunks of the last two seasons through injury but still has two years left on his contract with the Rabbitohs." Yet clearly they are trying to ditch him - I wonder why?

| Well I seem to be in a Minority of 1 as I believe Rangi may well stay.
All comes down to Finance doesnt it? Which of the top 8 could afford his £200k pa and maybe £100k transfer fee? His Disciplinary record is poor so clubs will factor in maybe a 20% loss via Suspensions & Injuries - so Mr Accountant will be telling the CEO that Rangi in effect will be on maybe £10k per home match. Not a good return is it?
Which clubs would be interested given the economics of the deal?
Saints maybe, Catalans but Carney & Myler look to be their choice, Huddersfield (Would give RC a chance to throw the book at Baloo) - so no chance there - Leeds possibles as McGuire ageing & Sinfield gone - Warrington - well Moran could afford it but they have a top Aussie coming so maybe not - Cas ? Doubt it both Financially or suitabilty (Powell has sound work ethics) - so that would leave Hull FC - so maybe with Pryce a doubt fitness wise Hull could be the club - they can afford or maybe we could land Westerman in a deal.
So all in all I just dont think its cut and dried.
