I thought Salford Faithful was Louise or Red City Girl and that she'd had a spat with the Doc?

Brilliant idea, I just hope the people who are chosen don't start any infighting.

I actually have a bad feeling about this. I think its a great idea on paper but in practice I doubt it will work. Its basically going to be perceived as those *enter offensive word* who run SalfordFaithful versus us "The Scarlet Turkey Crew". Now don't get me wrong, I dont agree with those generalised groupings but I feel as if Its the way it will be viewed. Also, can anyone actually see Marwan not losing his sanity if hes sat in a boardroom with some of our fans? Like I say, Im for this in principle but I have a feeling it will dissolve and be forgotten about as the fans on the board will have no real authority.

It's a great idea if the right people are chosen. Pick the wrong people and it will be like one flew over the cuckoos nest...

There lies the crux, I do honestly think it's a brilliant idea but I worry what sort of an informed opinion you can make on someone's one paragraph submission.

What worries me slightly is that there are a lot of great, honest, and worthy fans to fill those spots. But as we all know, these people are the type of people who wouldn't dream of applying.

It really needs to be a good cross section of support, and lets hope it is.

The rest of us need to give this a chance. There's no point labelling people attention seekers or botherers before the group has even been announced or met - I dare say good people haven't applied precisely because they didn't want that label.

At this stage all we know is that this group will be choosing the new kit - we don't know if that will be starting with a blank canvas or asking them to chose between 2 or 3 options. Beyond that we haven't heard anything about what they will do - whether they will be a sounding board for ideas, whether they will be asked to consult and come up with ideas, or whther they would actually have any decision making remit in any area.

I've always been an advocate of fan involvement in the running of sports clubs so we'll see how its done. I hope they sort out clear terms of reference so everybody knows how it is supposed to work. The main thing that could affect credibility is that "supporters reps" have been chosen by the club and not the supporters.

The only sensible way forward,is for the club to select the " board "
You really would have problems if done otherwise.
Faction A would accuse faction B of being aloof,and perhaps only favouring their agendas.
Faction C would accuse faction D of engineering a particular person onto the " board "
Faction E would be thought to not attending meetings,and so it may well go on.
I suspect whilst in principal it is a good idea reality may well be different.

I think this has been handled the right way.
As Lou Kate rightly opines, any other system of choosing would be fraught with difficulty.
It's been said that a one page email is no way to select. It's as good as any.
I suspect it will be a cross section so it won't upset or please everybody.
The really good news is that there will be 12 people with a better insight into what's going on than ever before,and who will have an opportunity to put forward their ideas.
It's impossible to run anything by committee ,though,so there will still only be one decision maker and I'm happy with that.

Well done to those that haven’t been chosen. I don’t know anybody who has been, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was those who bombard Koukash and Vickers on Twitter.

Hopefully as has been mentioned above, it’s a mixture of fans across a range of ages and backgrounds.

As Iain has stated I think that the terms of reference need to be clear. I am not an expert on company law, but I would want assurances, in writing, that if I was to be involved in any decision making I would not be classed as a Shadow Director, or De Facto Director, and all the implications that go with it.

I got an e-mail to say I'd been successful - looking forward to it, and helping take Salford forward.

I got turned down. Their loss

It’s a good idea in principle but the 12 members will have no authority to ultimately determine a decision. There could be a situation where the 12 members are 100% in agreement but if the Doc or Mr Vickers aren’t they will be powerless to act. (Which may not be a bad thing)



My view is the club are looking for a dozen unpaid foot soldiers (with too much spare time on their hands) to help with the promotion, administration and communication within the club. I'd imagine some of the work will involve door-to-door leaflet posting and promoting the club in local shopping centres. It could potentially be a real help assuming the right people have been selected.

Anything to report from the first meeting yesterday? Not heard anything.

The silence is deafening on this, I'd have thought that we'd have had lots of publicity surrounding such a novel idea.
