| Hindsight is wonderful. Smith is a different type of player but a good player with the correct players around him. Noble must think a great deal of Sneyd to play him at full back last year & then loan him out for the season, Can we get him back?

| I can't see him wanting to come back really. Regular place at Cas and smashing it. Why come back to Salford and be a second or third choice. A big mistake letting him go and thought so at the time. He was one of our best attacking players last year. Yes, he made mistakes but having said that he was heavily involved all over the pitch.

| I think it could actually prove to be a decent move in the long run. If he was still here he would be playing second fiddle (because Noble seems to prefer Smith, Chase, Theo at the moment) and not improving as a player, so he gets a year of regular first team appearances and then we get him back a much better player (I'm hoping that will be the case).
It would be like adding a new signing to a team that will have had time to gel, plus by the end of this season all our current players will have had enough time to prove themselves and we will know who is not good enough and needs replacing.

| The loan move made perfect sense. Look at the kid, he's playing week in week out and putting in some class performances by all accounts. What would he have been doing at Salford? He wouldn't have got in ahead of either Theo, Chase or Smith. He might have got a spot on the bench if he was lucky.
Nobody would envisage how good a start he would have, but id much rather him be pulling trees up at Cas knowing he's under contract and back at Salford next season rather than us released him.
We should have enough quality in three half backs we have for this loan deal not to affect us this season.

| If he's good enough to start for Cas (5 wins from 5) then it's a bit rich for our fans to be saying he'd be lucky to get a bench spot for us. You could argue that we'd be better off if we'd shown some faith in him and used the money saved to sign a decent hooker.
Early days yet though and the wheel could turn back in our favour when Chase returns. Wouldn't bank on Sneyd returning to Salford, although will Cas be able to afford to sign him? Every good performance he puts in will see his value increase.

And every player who turns marwans head will put it back down again, as Salford "need the cap space" ...

| I set up a Marc sneyd thread on here 3 week ago, he's just getting better all the time. Can't see his valuation being too huge because won't he only have a year on his contract? Plus how does smith chase fages sneyd fit into 4?

Fages and Sneyd are both having game time.

But Sneyd would have been lucky to get a bench spot with us this season, hence why the club made the correct decision and loaned him out. Before a ball was kicked I guarantee you not one Salford fan would have put Sneyd in our starting 17 ahead of either Rangi Chase or Tim Smith. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I doubt anyone would have envisaged Sneyd playing as well as he has and Cas winning 5 out of 5.
I see no reason why, if Sneyd keeps improving and putting in good performances he won’t be back at Salford next season.

| Agreed MR but in this make or break season it really is barmy to allow him to play against Salford. Very poorly constructed contract it seems.

| Marc is turning into a real crowd favourite at Cas Tigers and he's loving it here. He is the perfect fit for us. It wouldn't surprize me if we are not trying to get him signed over on a permanant long-term contract. He won us that game yesterday with his goal kicks alone.

Obviously we're only 5 games in and are still waiting to see if the Rangi/Smith combination will work but if Sneyd keeps this level of performance up there is no chance he will be allowed to leave Salford.
I'm just pleased for the lad that he's doing so well.

We desperately need another hooker in my view. If Sneyd is wanted permenently by Cas could we not do a swap deal for Clark? Or has he already agreed a deal with Warrington?

Many could see his potential, although strangely the majority were fans of other clubs. Hopefully Smith/Chase will hit it off starting on Sunday. If they don't, bringing in 2 big money players in a position we already had cover, whilst leaving ourselves severely lacking in other areas, is not going to look too clever.

| If Marc Sneyd is loving it at Cas and Salford want him back what will happen? (That is if he doesn't want to go back to Salford). Yes he will be under contract but why keep a player that doesn't want to play for your club.

I'm a big fan of Sneyd (I got into a very big argument with Salford fans on vt over smith vs Sneyd (and various other things) and I'm so far been right ) but this suggestion is somewhat over egging his value! Clarke is one of the hottest properties in sl imo, and I'd be very happy if saints got him for £250k-£300k owing to 4 years still to run in his contract, being 21 and looking the part (and without any more detailed insight, settled and not looking to get away) - Sneyd with a year to run, potentially wanting a move away, and a definite sense of "surplus to requirements" at Salford, would probably make him little more than a sweetener for any potential Clarke deal!
(That's not to say I wouldn't want saints to make Sneyd an offer either! Depends how much we have left in the transfer kitty after Clarke I suppose )

And here was me thinking that Saints were all about organic growth and promoting from within.

| I think you'll find Warrington tied Daz Clark up last year, We needed the money at the time. We'd do anything to reverse the sale atm. We're more stable financially and he's easily the best hooker in the league on form.
As for Sneyd. An agreement may need to be arranged should he not want to return. But that's a long way off. I can't imagine the sense in keeping 4 top hb's in the same squad. Only 2 can play each week.
