I am getting p1ssed off with the negative vibes ... yet on Friday night I heard some good and positive suggestions.

Needed a forum ([uin or parallel to Forever Reds[/u) where the fans suggest to the club ways of
-increasing numbers at games
-overcoming the college/hotel collapses so we have some form of stadium that meets the next franchise bid
-ways of marketing the club, the game, and the whole ethos of Salford
-getting together with the club so we can survive NOT getting a stadium, NOT getting a franchise, and LOSING players : so Salford RLFC still exists in 2020.

There must be bags of potential out in our fans - solicitors, business leaders, accountants, persons in sales, persons in property, etc.
We need to get involved now so the club and its fans can meet the issues we are arguing about.

Please NO it's XXX's fault. We haven't the time for that luxury.

this sounds a very good idea.

Forever reds do this, but we are only small in number, all we ask for membership is £10, we don't ask anything of you, it is up to you if you attend the meetings and meet and ask the players club officials questions. We organise socials to raise money for the club we might ask why not come along and enjoy yourself.

But for £10 meet fellow fans who share your concerns, as a special offer the person who is the 3000th to join will get free membership.

but we need to do this much more formally - literally a standing body that pushes ideas at the club every month and reports back the responses.

We need to work from the question and answer basis to a much more proactive front that has the aim of survival if possible in SL (even if we have to play at .... City [I would have to really gulp down a lot of pride then) or in NL as a good community entity like Halifax, Leigh or Whitehaven/Workington.

Otherwise we will be respectful but dead.

What I never want to see again are players promising at meetings but doing otherwise.

If you remember HR it was our refusal to play at Maine road that lead to Manchester Council objecting to our Ground proposals with retail.

Lets get the positives back in Salford Rugby club, we have all taken too many negitives just lately.

I was a member of Forever Reds back in the early days, coud anybody post what is happening with them lately, etc wot the money is spent on etc i would gladly join again dont think forever redss is promoted enough

Forever Reds could be the perfect vehicle for people to get involved, for the supporters to actually make an effort towards doing something for the good of the club. The problem is, people out there are either too apathetic and happy to just sit back and moan about those who currently run the club or they see Forever Reds as something bad. Quite how they've come to the last conclusion, I don't know.

If we could grow FR enough then we'd have the perfect supporters trust to enable the club will still be alive in 5, 10, 15, 20 years time and beyond. It can be done, people just need to get involved.

We help the Academy/foundation/scholarship side of the club. we liase with Alan Hunte as to what they need, i.e. in the past we have donated supplements, also a % to the money required to get all those young lads playing kit,as those lads had on who were presented to the crowd at the game Friday night.
We are also in conversation with Alan to purchase a De-fib machine to have available at all times.
A suggestion is also being followed up to have a memorial trophy to present at the annual awards night in Leon Walkers name to some one involved with Alans youngsters set up.
Forever Reds have also donated machines to the Physio dept to help with the improvement in players injuries.
At the game next week, we are donating a sum of money to the Cheerleaders group to help with their travel expenses to competitions, which also profile Salford City Reds R.L.
A couple of seasons back, we donated monies to a couple of our local amatuer sides towards their travel expenses to play games in France.
That is just a few of the things we have managed to do with limited support from our fans.
If more joined Forever Reds, we could do a lot more, & as already quoted, Swinton have more members than we have in their supporters trust, which is really bad in my mind.

Always willing to pay more as my saying goes "you don't buy a raffle ticket and expect to win the raffle" its all money for the club, I have been in the lifeline/golden gamble since 1978 £2 a week and won exactly £85 in 31 years.
As for publicity we ask that Paul McNally mentions us in each game, but due to the lack of home matches thats not very good, dates of meetings are in the Advertiser. Plus Jordan Turner scored on Friday and he is sponsored by Forever Reds, but I can't remember if this was mentioned when he scored.

I think it needs to be advertised more than at matchday and the advertiser, perhaps further afield and attendance wise I think putting an ad in the MUFC/MCFC programs would be money well spent. Now that the footy season has come to a close we should target footy fans with no football to look forward to at weekends and maybe we could keep hold of a couple when the footy restarts

Some of Trish's best ideas came from Forever reds she just didn't give us the credit but it helped the club.

All ideas from the meeting are passed to the board and then Shirl reports back to the meeting.

I heard that the Leigh fans (LISA) have a business arm, local business people are putting in a set amount each week/month which will be used to fund first team players.


Forever Reds have sponsored Jordan Turner for the last couple of years and everytime he scores FR get a name check. £10 isn't much to find annually.

All are welcome at meetings to give ideas there are people who will help you organise an event if you have a good idea.

If we actually got enough members we would be in a strong position to make suggestions to the Board.

Interesting - always a good motivator to get people really involved offer them a piece of the action. A fixed salary is a fixed cost regardless of results!

Now here's an idea - why don't we do that with the players - you get paid if we win, nowt if we loose or have we moved on from those days?

very true. I hear alot about it but i never see people at the games trying to sell it to fans? When i went through the gates on friday i was greeted with littler's testimonial fund. why dont forever reds do this? And also what does the money go towards?
