| no, but if you read the Tory leader in Salford Karen Greedio's letter in the advertiser she appears to think that the average person in Salford is thick and don't see news outside of Salford, so if she or the really thick Norman Owen go power in Salford the money would be pulled, Normans against any spending unless it is on him. Beware the liberals in Eccles they will say anything to get what they want wether it be lies or not.

| Kersal and Broughton are no longer "IN SALFORD", below is the proof, we are now under manchester! so maybe we need to lobby Graham Stringer although he's probably not even aware that Salford City Reds exist.
"[iCurrently the Kersal and Broughton Wards fall within the Salford Constituency. However, at the dissolvement of Parliament these two wards will fall within the Blackley & Broughton Constituency, which will be under the jurisdiction of Manchester City Council.[/i"

Pev which politician called the stadium in for a public enquiry? a move which cost us 9/12 months in time and 400/500k in money.
Without the "calling in" the stadium would have been finished.
A clue he has two Jags and claimed for a couple of mock tudor columns for the front of his mansion,sorry house, in Hull.

self interest on his part no just that Manchester put an objection in because we wouldn't move to Maine road and solve a problem for them, without that it would not have been called in, but would it have been built yet now that is a good question?

Pev I stand correcting if anyone knows any different but the objection from Manchester Council was I understand dropped prior to the enquiry.
On the occasions that I attended the enquiry and I was there most of the time I cannot recollect any representative from Manchester being in attendance and on the first day the inspector actually said that it was the first enquiry that he had chaired where there appeared to be no objectors present.
A nice little earner for a few people wouldn't you say?

IMO I still say we should have built at West One before the shops and all the rest went up, but the council said no.

Pev all these parliamentary points will get us thrown off this forum but just a few points from your post.
We do live in a democracy which when I went to school in Brindle Heath taught me that people had different ideas and voted for different people and parties based on what they thought were the correct policies,some people also watched Swinton at Station Road.
On your point on the banks are you saying that the banks are all sweetness and light?Many people that I know would really regulate them.
Boris Johnson was democratically elected as mayor of London because he didn't always toe the party line.
The sleaze in Westminster has been disgraceful and it should be eliminated as quickly as possible in all parties and in both houses to include the staff in the two houses also.
No group of people should fear any political party although once again all people have their own views on many things and legislation will not alter their views if they are convinced that the legislators have got it wrong.
I know people who have a policy of not allowing religious groups to knock on their doors or post leaflets, is that fair? should it be reported?I will speak to anyone and like you try and point out where I feel that they are going wrong.
With regards General Dannat being appointed as a Military Adviser once he left his army career, who better to have? would you prefer a Business Secretary who has never run a business before and who had £300/400k paid into a bank account that he forgot all about?
It is the same as the former Admiral Lord West who is now in the House of Lords
as a security adviser to the government.
Whatever happens on May 6th we will both be watching the Reds,having our moans and groans,discussing the new stadium,where we will stand or sit and possibly giving the newly elected government some gip.

| Fair points Original Salford City Red
all I was pointing out was what Cameron has said or done and somebody in his party has stated the opposite, and the Dannat thing was just so funny because the chap from the BBC let Grayling go on and on about the negatives of the appointment before they pointed out who had done what.
I am sure somebody will come on and could do the same for Labour or the Lib Dems.
I totally agree the banks should be regulated and a limit set on Bonuses, I remember when to get a mortgage you had to walk over glass and had to show proof of earnings and letters from your employer stating job was safe. Unfortunately we copied the Yanks and allowed people to self declare their earnings to get the house of their dreams without thinking how to pay it back, if lending is more regulated then the bonuses would not be as big.

Can't get hold of my mum for specific details but the key points here are;
Due to ill health, mum had to retire just 2 years before dad left. Being a retired single parent of three children, with a mortgage wasn't a great start under any governement. Certainly worse pre '97.
=#0000BF
1990, interest rates reach 15% (Her mortgage, as many were in the era, was a flexible-rate endowment mortgage.) Ouch. Repayments went through the roof.
Inflation peaked at over 10% effecting those with the least wealth the most as the cost of living, in relation to little income became tougher than ever.
=#FF0000
Post '97.
Interest rates have averaged at 5%, the lowest since the boom times of the 1960's saving my mum around £900 a year. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids.
Inflation has been reduced to the lowest in the EU up until 2008 meaning it doesn't cost the earth for day to day essentials in relation to her income. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids.
My mums incapacity benefit increased under Labour. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids.
My mum was in receipt of the Labour concept of child tax credit. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids.
My mum received discounts on her council tax under labour. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids. (And even, on special occasions, a trip to the supermarket cafe! Oh yes, the good time rolled!!!
)
She's now all but paid up on the mortgage so has arguably become a beneficiary of the increased degree of social-mobility in society that Labour was keen to implement.
Hell, she even gets free travel on public transport under Labour. (There's probably more I could write but like I say, can't get hold of her at the moment. She's probably doing her voluntary work. Yet another Labour initiative!)
Mate, it could be a hell of a lot better, but my word, it WAS and would surely again be MUCH worse under the Conservatives.

[size=150Well anyone can artificially set interest rate levels can't they, all part of the banks beign allowed to regulate themselves. Look at the national debt and debt per capita. highest in recorded history.[/size
Inflation has been reduced to the lowest in the EU up until 2008 meaning it doesn't cost the earth for day to day essentials in relation to her income. Meaning my mum could afford the mortgage as well as weekly food shopping for her kids.
[size=150You need to realise that Labour has actually changed the method of calculation. There's the RPI and CPI now. You will find that inflation is much higher than you are told, and that prices are through the roof. Utility prices have hit record highs, fuel prices record highs to name but a couple.[/size
[size=150Was this a Labour thing?[/size

[size=150Concessions were available under the Tories.[/size
She's now all but paid up on the mortgage so has arguably become a beneficiary of the increased degree of social-mobility in society that Labour was keen to implement.
[size=150Given that mortgages are usually taken over 25 years, she will have had the pleasure of ownership granted to her during a Tory regime. Home ownership grew massively under the Tories.[/size
Hell, she even gets free travel on public transport under Labour. (There's probably more I could write but like I say, can't get hold of her at the moment. She's probably doing her voluntary work. Yet another Labour initiative!)

| Scanners. I feel you may have questioned my mum's integrity within your reply. I sincerely hope not. With-this-in-mind, this debate could easily descend to a nasty, accuasatory level. Please leave the dirty stuff to the politicians if you will.
Fact 1. My mum is probably the most honest person I know. She would never lie, fib or mislead anyone so far as I'm aware. (And even if she was, she did a pretty smart job in hiding the supposed wealth she had under the tories.)
Fact 2. I remember what life was like for our family from 1990'ish when I was just 5 to 1997 when I was 12. It was tough. Really tough. I also noticed the drastic change in our quality of life from '97 until now. It is significantly better.
Now, considering my mum's integrity, why is this? And why do I hear the same from countless other families in the same boat?
You strike me as a decent person who is passionate about their politics. I'd love to hear your opinion.
However, I don't believe either party has the answers to the current economic plight of the country. Such is the unsustainable nature of monetarism per se. (Different debate.)
