| They were about to announce some 'exciting news' this afternoon but have delayed it till tomorrow now as there is another announcement, Ben Murdoch-Misila and another new signing perhaps?

| You're better off staggering them, surely a big name and the details of the season tickets for next year and then drip feeding others too keep up the publicity.

| I think that's a bit stupid of the Doc, he has in reality released 4 very valuable assets for nothing, for me at the very least any club interested should have been asked about possible swap deals for first teamers or good younger prospects.

I think he's probably viewing it as a 'Get things sorted quickly so we can all get on with rebuilding' decision. Essentially writing off his own losses rather than have a few moody players darkening the atmosphere, and I can't say I blame him after the fiasco's this year. Besides, they're only valuable if they're happy and not being replaced with similar or better players.

| Full credit to HH and Paterson for their performances in the crucial Widnes game.
Shows the tremendous character that we'll be losing.
On to the next chapter in the MK soap opera.
Excited by the future,as I was last year and the one before that !

I suspect certain players spat dummies out , and certain players were offered another way:- providing they played their part in keeping us in the SL - we can all work out who's who . and as we know there's another way of getting gold past a Tiger Tank ..
-- Holding onto highly paid players under contract who no longer want to play for Salford is just throwing good money after bad. and has proved liable to involve the club in more controversy & litigation. if you add up these players that's a big chunk of wages off the clubs books.
lets aim to be more rugby club , less soap opera for next season .

| Compensation agreed with Theo now, this one saddens me the most, brilliant prospect and with Chase going he would have been a starting half back for a good long while. You suspect he's had some incredibly bad advice.

| He's obviously made some big loses recently, but there's no way on earth he was going to get fees near what he paid. So he may have weighed what it's going to cost over the next 1-2 years and decided to cut his loses and get all these on silly contracts off the books.
This allows Sheens / Watson to bring in their own targets to fit into how they see the team and tactics going forward.
TBH the team we had put together was a bit like avengers assemble and that failed miserably.
I really think you will see a completely new club going forward.

| similar to Ratchford's departure, it will nag seeing him play elsewhere after believing he would be a one-club player with a captain's-armband & a club testimonial to be earned.
the most interesting part of this will be where he end up .

Yep MK thought he'd 'financed ' an epic packed with super-heroes , what we got was the "league of very-ordinary gentlemen".. which of course bombed .

| So, all the rumours that different people told me have turned out to be true.
Why would so many players be unsettled ? Could it be that the other rumours I heard, from the same people be true. Yes, the contract monies are paid on time but other promises have not been kept

Who knows?
It may be down to individuals as the fact remains that not everyone was unsettled. In fact the majority haven't been.
You'll always have unsettled players in every team. Look at Scott Taylor at Wigan, then look at him for us. I think people love the speculation around Salford more than others because people want to see MK fail. It gets regurgitated more in the press because of it, and talked about that little bit longer by other fans. You have to remember that every Club goes through periods where certain players are not happy for whatever reason.
I'm not looking further than Salford's episode this season being one of those, and hopefully we'll move on to a quiet stable season next year. Players come. Players go. The days of players for life are pretty much coming to an end anyway.

He'll probably end up at Saints. I know we're fans and super loyal to our clubs but careers are very short in rugby league and so are opportunities to win trophies. No disrespect but I can't see the prospect of that happening too soon at Salford, so to leave for the SL champs and team currently in the top 4 from a team that's had to scrap for survival...well, that's not bad advice at all.

| All the players left / leaving have had issues with the owner prior to Tim Sheens arrival, maybe Patterson jumped the gun??
From the tone of Koukashs tweet, he isn't being given a choice to rescind "we agreed to release him from 1st Oct whether leigh were in SL or not, I hope he honours it as the club have, we are not interested in keeping him".
If the rumours for Fages of 22k + Flanagan are true I'd be happy with that, Flanagan slots into Patterson / HH role.
Forgot to add hope the first announcement is Sheens is staying long term.

Thought Flanagan was ooc and saints not renewing so he is not part of an actual deal per se.

But if the deal for Flanagan is true separate or not I will be more than happy.

| Flanagan is out of contract and isn't part of any deal that will see Theo announced as a Saints player shortly.
With regards to others, Paterson made his bed when he agreed to join Leigh back in July. Super League looked a cert for the Leythers at the time, since then the wheels have well and truly fell off Beaumont and Rowleys wagon and consequently Paterson tried to renege on his Leigh deal only for Tim Sheens to tell him to stick it.
The others as has been mentioned on here is all to do with brown envelopes and money. Hansen and Chase thought they were invincible and used this to their advantage, the club are better off without either of them here in my opinion. All part of the same clique, I hope it is the last time we see such a high influx on Kiwi/Samoan players in the dressing room at any one time.

Much as I'm gutted to lose Paterson (I think he is on his day as good as any 2nd row in the league) it shows the new attitude from the club and it's an attitude I think everyone of us has been looking for.
What about Sa'u and Hauraki? are they not part of it? I'd be surprised if Sa'u was as he always seems like a family man who away from the club steers clear of any nonsense. Hauraki I worry about as we know how close to Chase he is, I wonder if he will still have the ex clique chirping in his ear about what has now thankfully passed.

| I agree, similarly with the Dave Taylor signing, all seemed done and dusted until Tim Sheens arrived and insisted he isn't the type of character we need in the dressing room. I have really enjoyed watching Paterson this season, but another year on, consistent knee troubles, I don't think he will prove to be a great loss.
Sa'u was told he could find another club if he wishes, nothing to do with any clique but just more down to Sheens not rating him. When he heard we'd offered him a new two-year deal (a panic move to appease fans by Marwan and Vickers on the back of the Theo debacle) he wasn't happy. We saw at Widnes what Sa'u can do when he is up for it and in the mood, but for me he just doesn't have enough of those days, particularly against the better teams in the league.
Weller has another year left and as far as I know he's staying put.

| Well, it seems to me now that MK has finally had some proper RL advise. Tim Sheens is the best signing he has or is ever likely to make. Now I think, finally, that MK's dreams of building Salford into a top contending team within SL can start. Much the same as us with Powell, you now have somebody who you can trust to take the club forward on the playing side and build a cohesive squad rather than a team of individuals. Sheens doesn't take prisoners, but knows the game better than anybody I could mention currently involved in the sport. I've never had a lot of time for MK and his way of doing things, but anybody that can put their hand up, admits to their mistakes and takes advise to put them right deserves a bit of respect. I am hoping to see him put some more of his money into youth development, and I shall be watching the progress with interest. That was a difficult post to write for me looking back on some of the soap opera episodes coming out of Salford over the last 2 years, but I like to give credit where credit is due and I think you are now starting on the correct path. Oh, how do you fancy a straight swap Carney for BJB??

Nice post.
I can only speak personally but I'm quietly hoping that this is the case. I don't want to jinx things by shouting it from the rooftops you see . I see next season as the first 'proper' season after getting our bender out of the way and settling down to how things should be done. Sheens is definitely the man for the job, whatever that job is in the Club. Even MK seems to have matured in his role since Sheens came in, admittedly helped by the rise of King of the Bell-ends, Derek Beaumont snatching the mantle. All I can say is Fingers crossed for us that this is the case.
As for Carney and BJB? I'd be happy with that swap, not that BJB has done much wrong, I just see Carney as the type of player Sheens would prefer out wide rather than BJB and I'd agree with him.
