| the capture of BJB smacks of us actually having time to look at ooc players and the doc being well advised.
hope this is the sign of things to come
One very happy red!

There's some tries there. Pelissier from Catalans seems to be the other Twitter rumour, assuming my Hull to English dictionary is right.

Even if he plays wing, he gives you excellent cover for FB. A good signing for Salford.
I'm sorry to see him leave the Rhinos.

Not heard the Pellisier one myself but would be an improvement on Lee, was hoping that Tomkins might become a full time move. Said somewhere else wouldn't mind getting hold of Caton-Brown from London as he seems to have something about him.

| Got to say I'm really happy with BJB signing. Just what we need. Back line for next season is shaping up nicely. Still need a quality hooker, although I wouldn't be disappointed if Tomkins came on board permanently as one of two.

| As for BJB it's a real step in the right direction, signing young British talent isn't easy but in BJB we have signed a back of real quality. Does make me wonder who on earth is being released at the end of the season as can't see Locke or BJB being on peanuts.

| Certainly the age of Iestyn Harris signings ( Loan & 2015 squad )
Logan Tomkins 21
Greg Eden 23
Kevin Locke 25
Ben Jones-Bishop 25
all younger & quicker,
If only Platt hadn't joined my reasoning would be watertight ...

An even more interesting volte-face by League Freak.
Not surprised.Dr K has played yet another blinder. We lost at home to Widnes - a few days later Kevin Locke signing is announced to lift the spirits.Miserable day, weather, performance, result, attendance on Saturday, then he makes this announcement.Everyone must be on an upper.
Quality player - quality character ! Found this little link where he also suggests an appreciation of our coach - the one in charge for these quality signings [url=http://www.express.co.uk/sport/rugbyleague/350154/Ben-Jones-Bishop-caps-recoverySTORY[/url

I know a lot of fans of both our Club and others constantly seem to wave the 'Cap flag' whenever we do anything. With every signing there's always at least a handful of people mentioning the 'C' word. I was thinking about this the other day and people don't seem to allow common sense to seep into their reasoning, or simply don't actually give it genuine thought.
This is not a go at anyone, by the way, just an observation.
You have a team like Leeds who we've just signed BJB off, or Wigan with Hansen for example. Teams that are considerably better, successful, and more expensive than ours. We recruit a few better players into a 'lower standard' side, yet people constantly bring up cap this and that. Even though they are not privvy to anyones or organisations finances. I find it strange that fans from teams that include current Internationals scattered liberally throughout not only their first choices but reserves too, don't question how their team can manage not to raise the question of cap space. Yet when a 'lower' team with about half the quality of players signs a couple of decent players, we must be over the cap.
That is not a go at Leeds or Wigan, I was just using them as an example because we've signed players off them.
I also get the feeling that people's guesses at wages of RL players would be considerably higher than they are in actuality. I'd hope that as a Club we will be surfing close to the cap ceiling come the start of next season. If we have the money we should spend it.
I guess that most people jump to conclusions based on very little

can't have been on big money .
BJB had 7 seasons at Leeds ,(re) joined at 18 so would have been on academy money , since 2008 he's accumulated 73 sl appearances , his best season tally being 23 in 2012.
He's never been 1st on the team sheet material + he's had two serious injuries ( skull fracture 2010 - Blood Clot on lung 2013 )

Good Point Butcher. I've been saying this for years. The Likes of Warrington, Leeds and until recently Wigan have had top class internationals but no-one bats an eyelid. Woe betide little old Salford to sign a few class players and we "Must be Breaking the Cap".
Again, not a go at the likes of Warrington, Leeds or Wigan just an observation of fans opinions!

I've been banging the same drum about him. That would be a great a signing after this year's hooking debacle. Gets through the defensive work expected of all hookers and is top notch going forward which is where we are hugely lacking. Howarth, Lee and Tomkins can all be shipped out for me.
The best part of being Salford fan is signings excitement. The actual rugby league bit is crap.

I don't think you're cheating the cap (at least not yet ) - I do think teams are getting more for their cap than Salford though
Logic becomes a lot easier this year, since according to koukash you're spending up to the cap this year - so incoming players should marry up to outgoing players.
Of course, it gets tricky as salaries aren't published. People can only use guesstimates. Some can be figured out through other rumours (like Kevin Locke rejected the bulldogs offer of $400k so it can be a safe(ish) bet that any Salford deal will be in that region), and some are left to guessing (like bjb, I'd say £75k but, I'm literally pulling a number out of the air) - now, there is at least 3 more to come apparently, so there's quite a bit of cap space movement to be considered (far more than is usually seen by the "top" teams (who prefer more settled teams) which is why imo people call foul)
Depending on who goes will depend on whether I cry foul

You sum up my thoughts entirely. It feels like a waiting game until we eventually click, realise our potential and progress as a team on the field. Right now our performances are not a great deal better than last year. If anything it's much more disappointing considering all the extra investment.

| Warrington, Wigan and Leeds all have "top class internationals" because they all pull well over 10K paying supporters in at home games. If the Dr is making up the short-fall he is losing a fortune.

| Were probably only 3 players from being a top top side! Id say a centre, hooker(although i would take tomkins with Owen coming off the bench) & a prop! And if i was being picky probably a natural loose forward!

I can't argue with much of that.
You do highlight the fact that when a team ships in/out a lot of players people call foul, which is still to my mind, not thinking. I'd hazard a guess, and a guess it is, that older players will cost you more salary wise as they sign shorter contracts. Younger players may sign more for stability than sheer wage power. There's a lot of factors involved. We always assume that if a 'big name' moves Clubs it's for more money. It may be. It may be for Stability. It may be for personal reasons. That goes for all players. We just don't know, which is my point really.
We can guess and speculate, but I think the main reason it's ever brought up is a thinly disguised pop at another team.
