| No idea what marwan paid for him but a poster on the wigan site reckons he paid 200k , is this anywhere near the truth .

| I think people have an inflated idea about transfer fees in RL. Every Cas fan was quoting silly figures for Chase, but the actual figure was considerably less than any of them thought.
My guess would be that it's the case with the Hock valuation. The real figure is probably a lot less.

| 1. How does the poster know that?
2. How does A$250,000 become £200,000 when the exchange rate is about A$1 = 55p?
3. How do we know Parramatta were offering that much?
4. How do we know Wigan wouldn't accept less when the Parramatta deal fell through but they still wanted him off the wage bill?
5. When will we realise that "people in the know" usually aren't?

Think you're right on the money. If you pardon the pun.

' undisclosed fee '
Fee's were paid for Chase , Smith & Hock.
I doubt the speculative amounts bandied about on the inter-web bare any relation to the factual amounts actually agreed .
their departing clubs fans would not want to imagine them leaving for reasonable amounts.

sorry i got my calculations as i was converting from dollars to dirhams and then pounds with out thinking properly.
it was well known that we was getting 500k for both mossop and hock.
it was also well known that we would loan him out again as wigan were happy to keep his registration unless an appropriate fee was bid. He was an international and one of the best game breakers in super league.
i never claim to be in the know far from it being out here.
No way would wigan have accepted anything less than a 100k for hock.

Looking forward to Wigan paying tax on the income stream from all these massive transfer fees. Bet the clubs accountants are loving all this money they will be asked to account for by the tax man.
The most important part of your post is the word was as you know things change like a players value and players agreeing to a contract that states he will not speak to other sports and NRL clubs for a set period but things do change

Well that's me convinced. Has it never occurred to you that people who know how much money changes hands in such deals don't spend their time on internet forums grand standing about it?
You, like the rest of us, know nothing.

You'd hope most of us knew slightly more!
I mean the truely educated know we got Hock from Wigan for the price of a packet of Spangles and the Docs award winning 25er conker.

| "Although Parramatta have formally signed the 29-year-old,( Hock ) they are yet to pay Wigan the agreed transfer fee, believed to be around $250,000.Aus"
That's £137,000 to an NRL side ,who didn't pay , then Hock reneged can see us Dr. K paying more , most likely less.

Something being "well known" doesn't mean it's true. It's well known that lemmings throw themselves off cliffs in acts of mass suicide. It isn't true.
Neither you nor I (nor anyone else on this forum, I suspect) know what was paid for Gareth Hock. Your £200,000 (now down to £100,000) is just speculation, and no more valid than me claiming Salford paid £1 for him.

| They sent him away from the club for an entire year (to Widnes). Hardly the act of a company managing a prize asset.
I would imagine the fee would have been nominal. The biggest win for Wigan would have been the freeing up of money from the salary cap (Tomkins was a marquee and I think that meant his wages had some kind of exemption (correct me if I am wrong please)).
I think it is best if the likes of Dubai don't confuse the issue by thinking a rich Aussie club bidding 18 months ago is the same as a Brit club in today's climate.
At least Wigan can say with some confidence that they now have a chance at the fair play award!!
;(

| Some of the figures quoted on here are a joke, it reminds me of the time when many were throwing £250k price tags for Rangi Chase. As discussed before, the sum would have been nomimal and nowhere near the £100k region.
