| Neil Barker has said in todays' M.E.N that Rangi Chase is coming on board for next year. Does this mean it's a done-deal or are one of the bigger clubs going to swipe him from under our red noses? I personally think that signing Chase would be a massive turning point, if we can get him then who knows who we might be able to sign in the future!
It also says in another article that we are signing a couple of young lads who've been going well at Batley, sounds like a decent move.

| I must admit I read the article too and couldn't work out whether it was a done deal or merely speculation.
I think he'd be a great signing and will give us the creativity that we've been desperately lacking this season. I remember when we played Cas at home a few months ago, he completely run the show and pretty much won the game on his own.

Yeah he won it for us by giving an interception away
On a serious note IF we do sign him, it will be the greatest signing we've made in my lifetime

| Then your obviously too young to remeber a Mr Paul Carige!!! By far and a way the most entertaining player i have ever, and I mean EVER! seen in a Salford shirt. Chase isn't fir enough to lace his boots for pure entertainment!

| Rangi chase would certainly be a great signing needs big forwards to run off him tho that's the important thing imo

If we sign Chase I would say that it would arguably be Salford biggest signing since Steve Nash joined us in the summer of 1975 for a world record transfer fee. Yes we have had some big high profile names over the past 38 years but with respect they were all past their peak.

I wasn't his biggest fan I preferred Gibbo's unpredictability and elusiveness with ball in hand for entertainment. A class player but I don't think we saw him play to his full potential in an average at best Salford team.

Signing Gary Jack after he won the Golden Boot wants some beating.

It certainly does. The best player in the World in his pomp. But, it was always a short-term deal and that way it was easier for us to pull in big names: Neil Baker, Geoff Selby etc.

| I’m too young to remember Garry Jack, so I would have to say Gavin Clinch (at the time what with relegation was a cracking signing) and Andrew Dunneman is certainly up there. Shows how tough we’ve had it that we’re scraping the barrel with these names though.
I am shocked nobody has mentioned Kevin McGuiness....yet!

I know I'm boring as I always say it but when he half killed Critchely playing for Keighley it was worth whatever Wilky paid for him.

I do agree with chase being a magician but without runners to distract the defenders he would get snotted on a regular basis
Currently our support play for our pivots are pedestrian at best imo with perhaps 1 runner. to get the best out of chase you would need runners both outside and inside him and big mobile which are going to drag the defence in and create space for chase to exploit
Hopefully the dr will continue to invest to get the best out of chase

| I'm excited at the prospect of seeing Chase in a red shirt more than I have been at seeing any potential new player in longer than I can remember.
My only reservation is who will play in the halves with him, Theo is extremely talented but I wonder if both are too similar in their off the cuff approach.
A position I have too admit I'm happy to contemplate and one I didn't ever expect to see at the turn of the year.

| Pmsl and you believe all this. Apart from the visa issues how is kook going to get Chase to opt for Salford when thrre are at least seven other bigger clubs after him .
Truth is , it just aint happening . Rangi is much too young for your pre retirement club

This!
On your original point. I actually think young Theo would be a good foil for Rangi at first receiver and will benefit greatly from a dominant pack.

The M.E.N have Bobbie Goulding giving his views on who Salford should sign to partner Chase, I'm sure even barker wouldn't run two story's basically saying Chase is a cert to sign, he must have had assurances to interview Ian millward firstly and now bobbie goulding on how the player will fair in a salford shirt.
