| Sorry but really not happy that Murphy is still getting a shot, the tackle on Caro on Sunday was good but the rest was average and the missed high ball where he got clattered was as bad an attempt at a catch as I've ever seen. He looks like if he dropped down a division for the experience he'd get his confidence back which sadly for him is very evidently lacking.
With Sneyd likely to play it's not like we need his kicking so sorry but got to give Evalds a crack at it.

| I wonder if the loan deal for Murphy included some kind of guarantee of 1'st team football?

They said it was a one month loan which surely has elapsed? Not being disrespectful to him (or any of the loanees) but he just doesn't look good enough and a decent championship team would know before the game to bombard him with high balls and he'll more than fluff his lines.
Can anyone honestly say that Evalds wouldn't be just as good defensively at full back and would offer a great deal more offensively.

I asked the same question to Ed Farish , says there is definately no guarantee of selection involved in any of our loan deals . It's Purely Veivers picking him
Rhys Williams , was hoping to have him back some time in the future
Niall Evalds , said that Niall would get some ' significant ' game time this season

mmm - makes you wonder then if there is some less formal "gentleman's agreement", otherwise what's the incentive for a club to send a player out on loan if they're not going to get game time?

Shame for Gibson - he took his tries well and made a couple of vital tackles in the second half against KR but don't think his defence is strong enough for centre and Broughton and Williams are better wingers, good man to have in the squad though

| It will be McGoldrick and Foran at half back. Gibson will play in the centre, with Sneyd and Gledhill or James missing out. Shame for Sneyd, but I just don't think PV will play him, he has a habbit of dropping youngsters who have performed.

| I'd play McGoldrick at FB with Gibbo in the centres. Thought Boyle went well and think he'll keep his place. Mauro could replace Jewitt? We'll see but I'd expect us to beat London whichever combination we use. I have to admit being slightly worried playing Foran straight away. SH is the key position and he'll probably have a bit of jet lag still and have had 1 maybe 2 training sessions before the game to work on combinations. Only a slight concern but as I say I expect us to win whichever combination we use.

Youngsters to have to be nurtured very carefully because they do 'burn out' or [url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21601682lose their zip[/url
Playing Murphy against Wigan was wise as he had been on their warm weather training trip to Florida [url=http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/salford-reds-must-play-waiting-698241LINK[/urland would, presumably, know more about them than anyone else.It wasn't the best debut he could possibly have but it did leave PV in a quandary. With his own position under the microscope he chose,as a former full back and father of a son of similar age and playing experience to Murphy,to continue playing him not only away against Cats and Leeds but at home in front of a crowd which fortunately on Sunday night was out of this world in its continual vocal encouragement.
I think it demonstrates the measure of the man with regard to Phil Veivers and also that Jack Murphy can recover from probably the worst debut it was possible to have to slowly rebuild his confidence to be part of a winning side against a team featuring the 'next' 'English' Billy Slater or however Nathan Brown described Greg Eden.
There is no one going to steal a ball from Jack Murphy.Even the best make mistakes.
We need to win this game as it appears Wakefield are inury depleted [url=http://www1.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/12208/8527627/Wakefield-s-Danny-Kirmond-has-had-an-operation-and-could-be-out-for-a-monthlink[/urlbefore they play the French

I agree to extent, but if a youngster is performing (like Evalds) why drop him? Surely that sends the wrong message out to them? The message PV is giving out at the moment seems to me, to say - "If you've come through Salfords ranks you’re obviously not good enough so I’ll pick someone who has come through a better academy system even though they’ve not been performing!!”
And as for Sneyd he’s 22 now so I think he’s past the nurturing stage surely? (Not old I know, but as a pro sports person 22 is the age when players need to start making a name for themselves otherwise they never will or should I say players rarely do as there are exceptions )He played well last week so IMO should keep his place this week, I just don’t think he will. Hope Phil proves me wrong!!!

Without being part of the management team we have no idea the real reasons for things. PV might have had an encouraging word with Evalds and offered reassurance. Or maybe he's carrying a little knock and wants to rest him. Or maybe he's not trained to the satisfaction of PV and Longy. At the end of the day we don't know the real reasons, but rest assured, there will be valid reasons.
Sometimes, what can seem like a baffling decision to fans is nothing but the right decision behind the scenes.
Just playing Devil's advocate.

| Maybe Veivers adopts a fergie-esque approach to talented youngsters...tries to keep them slightly grounded and doesn't overplay them too much too early?
Where's all this Veivers bashing coming from too? Wilky/Tarry/Simms have left so I suppose someone has to be in for it dont they?

| I think McGoldrick will be a good choice at fullback. So far this season he seems to have done the majority of the talking/organising on the pitch, he's also played there for Cas in the past. I'd glady sacrifice a bit of pace in the fullback position for someone who can organise the defence, which is a bit more important in out current state I'd say?
Also where have people got this idea that Mcgoldrick is especially slow? Have you seen him full sprint or even 80%? Or do people presume because carries a bit of muscle and is 30+ that it automatically means he's slow. Even if he isn't a whippet, I'd say speed is about the 3rd or 4th most important quality in a fullback behind safe under a bomb, organising skills, one on one defence etc..

Couldn’t have put it better myself. After two matches hes the new Stuart Littler! I say leave him in the reserves now until the cup matches, same with Theo, there is no rush to have them in the first team. Slowly ease them in and let them learn in time.
